It is really sad to hear everyone’s feelings on this, and it appears we all feel the same level of helplessness and disillusionment.

However, I do feel that the past 18 months have awakened a renewed push for Palestinian freedom and there are way more people around the world now who are aware of what is happening and the history of this than ever before. That in itself is a huge step forward in my opinion. Ignorance is the main initial obstacle usually.

I also feel that the Zionists want this. They want us to be despondent and brow beaten so they can continue with their plan to ethnically cleanse the Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank, and furthermore, come out of it with the same level of standing in the world. This cannot be the case and will not be the case.

I was political to a degree before October 7th but since then I have become even more politically active than ever before, and even got involved in local government as a result.

I just felt I needed to do something, and help in any way I can as I was sick of seeing the wrong types of people in power in national and local governments who were controlling the discourse and narrative.

What has dawned on me is the level of racism in western societies towards Muslims and the apathy to dead brown kids.

I do feel we need to keep going and protesting, talking about Palestine and tryino to get into positions where we can make a difference however small. It’s going to be a long road still from this point but there is no turning back for most of us now. I might not see a free Palestine in my lifetime but I have told my kids about it and will continue to educate them on this as the fight needs to be continued by the next generation.

I agree with you 100% - I’m not saying we should stop doing any of the things we are doing. Just sharing my own personal feelings on the matter. I still give whatever charity I can to support Pali voices and causes, and do what I can across social media and wider to amplify Palestine. And to be honest I’ll never stop. But my own feeling is one of deep despair. More than peace I want justice. Justice for the 100,000 brutally murdered and the scores more for the bodies they’re still recovering.

When I first saw desperate Palestinians say - when asked what they wanted from the outside world - they just wanted the world to keep talking about them, I thought it sounded naive and pointless and completely insufficient. Then as time went by I kept seeing them say it, then I saw videos of the joy and relief lighting up the faces of people in Gaza, when hearing about Columbia, or watching footage of the Jewish Voice for Peace demos, or when a recognised figure makes a statement, or when shown a local protest.

It's all so fecking despairing and no ones getting out of this scot free. Speaking up is not enough but it is the bear minimum, and it is essential, for those that suffer and for those that are witness to the suffering.

To have someone bear witness is fundamental and I never even thought about it but it makes so much sense.

From Hossam's final message:
"I ask you now: Do not stop speaking about Gaza. Do not let the world look away. Keep fighting, keep telling our stories—until Palestine is free.”

This pretty much sums it up for me as well. The past couple of weeks have made me beyond deflated. I'll never give up and I will always do what I can, but these next four years are going to be so, so tough.

I also feel pretty defeated and hopeless, more so when its pretty much been confirmed that these Isr**li cnuts pretty much have carte blanche to commit any war crimes - up to and including genocide. I was hoping there'd be some more voices of concern, particularly from Europe especially after watching the response to Putin's invasion of Ukraine, but alas it feels like Europe doesn't care for a particular group of people being subjected to the most abhorrent treatment. That or they're completely politically compromised.

The only thing thats changed for me is I've fully cut off family and friends who still find ways to justify Isr**l's Nazi-esque campaign of dehumanisation and displacement. Its become a conclusive litmus test for how I judge someone's morality.

Couldn’t agree more. This is a litmus test for anyone’s humanity. I have cut myself off from any friends or family who either defend Israel’s actions or who are silent or apathetic about the whole thing.

I’ve given up trying to make people care. You either have it that sort of humanity in yourself or you don’t.

They bombed a mosque full of worshippers who were praying in the middle of the night, in Ramadan.

I think Israel behaves like the neighborhood bully, but it should be pointed out that there has been rocket fire from Lebanon this morning, for the second time in a week.

I think Israel behaves like the Nazi's, but worse.

It's been very disheartening (and terrifying) to learn how many people simply don't. It's honestly altered my perspective on humanity as a whole.

Oh God forbid anyone fires back at you.

Why hit Beirut though? Did Hezbollah even claim responsibility for the attack?

If I had to guess, Israel was either using this as an excuse to attack Beirut, or sent a message to the Lebanon government and military who are in charge of preventing attacks toward Israel from their territory.

Or, not least, it's Bibi sending a message to his base: Look, I reacted in a brutal way, I'm a strong leader.

I'm also pretty sure Hezbollah did not fire those rockets (or the six rockets a week back) as it wants to keep the ceasefire.

Is there any point in this kind of sentence at all?
Because Israel behave exactly like the Nazi? Why can't that be pointed out?

Most people are comfortable calling the likes of Bannon and Musk a Nazi even though they haven't murdered anyone. Why can't we called a nation who have committed genocide, Nazi?

I'm not making excuses here, but might as well put all the facts on the table. It's not been one-sided.
You guys have fighter jets, tanks, and a whole lot of weapons from US, not to mention nuclear warheads. The other side have self made rockets. It's as one sided as it gets

Because they haven’t behaved exactly like the nazis? Or worse as the initial poster said?

The nazi term isn’t used to just describe every single shitty thing happening in the world. Nobody calls the Hutu Nazis or the Turks in the 1910s or king Leopold or Al-Bashir or Assad or Pol Pot. Nor do we call them mongols or imperial Japanese.

It’s such an inaccurate, pointless comparison borne of ignorance.

Israel is a bully, a brutal occupier, ethnic cleanser and currently committing genocide. Humans have been doing variations of that since we existed. Most of them have not been nazis.

It’s completely pointless.

Israel is doing what Nazi's did, just slower. It has the same goals, based on the same supremacy bullshit masked by national security, also the same reason that Nazi use.
If I can't called Israel Nazi because they haven't killed 6 million Palestinians, that would be pointless because there's only 2 million Palestinian in Gaza and West Bank.

Calling it Nazi would have a point because Israel always come back to what Nazi did to the Jews in Europe to justify the ethnic cleansing to the Palestinians. If they're doing the same thing then their reasoning will become pointless

Again, no they’re not. You really need to educate yourself on what the nazis actually did. Not everything wrong and evil is nazi.

There are not only 2 million Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. There are about 5 million on those 2 regions. Another 1.2 million who live in Israel itself. And around another 3 million who live as formally registered refugees in surrounding countries. Then others scattered around the world.

I didn’t even mention 6 million Jews, you did. You don’t have to kill 6 million people to be a nazi.

Needless to say, Israel have been breaching the ceasefire in Lebanon since early on.

Correct. Obviously a person can disagree as to whether the comparison is fair or valid, but the rhetorical point is clear. Just as the rhetorical point is clear when people call such-and-such 'fascists' or 'hamas supporters' and whatnot.
