ISIS in Iraq and Syria

Do you see him in the photo?

Nope. Precisely my point. Your rants against Sunni leaders have zero legitimacy given your support for a WMD on his own population using dictator. Zero. Until you reconcile this, nothing you say about the people in the photo will be taken seriously.

The photo was from Kerry's recent meeting with Arab leaders, hence the contextual relevance.

You're the one who's trying to spin everything into a sectarian argument.

I have no idea what you're on about (unsurprisingly). Anyhoo....off to board a flight. Don't spam things up with Chomskyite babble until I land. :)

Word of mouth on Edgware Road.

lol

I've raised the fact that I have been on that road twice in the past few months. Those are the only two times I have been there recently.

That Green valley place do some nice food.

Turkey refuses to allow use of their air bases for attacks on ISIS.

Look at the scum in that photo. Despotic monarchs, dictators, rapists and bigots. Half of them have probably sanctioned the funding of ISIS and are probably gleefully rubbing their hands now that there's further authorisation to arm 'moderate' rebels.

You're being liberal there! I'd say majority of them if not all.

Turkey refuses to allow use of their air bases for attacks on ISIS.

They provided a safe haven to these lot, they need them to fight against syrian govt and kurds so dont hold your breath!

British captive reportedly executed due to the decision to arm the Peshmerga.

Alan Henning is "next".

Edit: Just watched the video so I guess it's confirmed.

Dreadful. Father of two who had gone out there as an aid worker.

It seems odd but the editing of this one seemed a lot more erratic than previous...hopefully these sick bastards are on the run and it'll be just a matter of time.

They are getting a bit nervous with the US preparing airstrikes in Syria and are clutching at straws with the only hand they feel will make a difference - decapitating westerners.

It's as though they're trying to provoke us into making air strikes in Syria, and arming the Peshmerga is just an excuse.

They're surely alienating more people than they're recruiting judging by responses from around the world, Arab countries included. I read that Iran are sending troops in - has that been confirmed?

I think so.

That was my first thought too.

Of course they're trying to provoke airstrikes. They see it as a way to galvanise more support for their cause, and as a result their 'moderate rebel' mates get rewarded with more weapons as a result, which they get handed over along with western journalists to decapitate.

I think it's very likely that's exactly what they're trying to do

That's why it's frustrating when the PM quotes are posted on twitter all these internet warriors come out throwing abuse and saying 'why aren't you doing anything then?' as though there is a simple solution. I wish we could unite on issues such as this, when such atrocities are happening we should set aside our differences domestically.

So when are the RAF going to start bombing the hell out of these lot?

Offensive on Tel Hamis has begun. YPG have liberated villages in the last day or so and will aim to hit the town soon imo.

Tel Hamis is a town that acts as a major ISIS base with strong local support. Removing ISIS from it would cut off a supply line to Mosul via Syria.

It seems that Kurdish forces on both sides of the border have attempted to strangle Mosul. Rabiah has been liberated (town on border), offensive on Tel Hamis, offensive on Shingal (Sinjar) and the liberation of villages SW of Makhmur by PKK and Pesh forces.

Al Jazeera has learned that Kurdish militias have stormed the towns of Tel Khalil and Tel Hamis in the Qamishli countryside, killing 42 civilians including 12 children.

I'm not planning on watching he videos. Is there a chance that these poor people are killed quickly/painlessly and the bodies decapitated after death? Would be a small mercy

YPG aren't in Tel Hamis yet, that's complete bullshit.

The last operation on Tel Hamis saw it take one week for YPG to get into the town. This offensive began last night, YPG are not supermen. Several villages have been captured but that's about it so far.
