Isco

Heard someone saying that Oliver Torres of Atletico Madid was going to be better than Isco. Anyone seen or heard of him?

I've read stories linking us to him over the last year or so, and I've only seen clips. From the little I've seen, doesn't look Isco level to me.

Seen him in the u19s this summer, he's a completely different player so it make it difficult to compare. Jese Rodriguez is possibly the most similar player to Ico from that u19 team. Was named player of the tournament. Torres played centre mid and really dictated things but he didn't show anything like the creativity or skill of Isco. Was probably their best performer throughout the tournament though. Looked a notably better player than Suso to give you some idea of where he's at. Plays a bit like Ander Herrera and I desperately hope we're looking at these types of players. So bright and aware, really mature too. Don't know if he's better than Isco but he looks plenty good enough to go be playing midfield for us right now.

Good as he is, I wouldn't be happy with him as a Nani replacement, if it came to that. He's the sort of player a big club should be adding to their ranks and challenging to force his way in, not replacing a key figure with.

Still want, though. Obviously.

Just from those clips if we replaced the kit and the name, we wouldn't be able to tell if it was him or Hazard. Have we ever seriously been in for him?

Well just so everybody is on the same page, Hazard is miles faster. Isco is not that fast, whether thats an issue with the idea of him playing on the left and being overlapped by Evra is up to opinion. I think the reality is that even though Young is twice as fast, you never actually see it because he's just passing the ball to Evra or a central midfielder. So maybe speed wouldnt be missed out there.

And anyway Young's sprint speed without the ball has very little to do with how fast he is with it. His limited ball control (compared to someone like Nani or Isco) means he runs pretty slowly with the ball.

Silva
Mata
Jordi Alba
Isco

Forged in the same fire

Imagine how Valencia's team would look if they never had any debt issues and you added Villa to the above list of produced players

Isco would trigger a wank fest on the caf, the likes that have not been seen since we signed RVP....BUT......I dont think Cleverley, Kagawa and Powell would be too pleased if we bought Isco as it appears Isco plays best through the middle!! I think Fergie would prefer to go for someone like Zaha for the left wing. I cant see Fergie going for another playmaker but he did try to sign Lucas from Sao Paulo and that kid is going to be a phenomenon. He has been in frighteneing form for Sao Paulo lately. But a more defensive minded passing midfielder seems to be more a priority here but maybe were all wrong with that one.

Lucas Moura and Hazard who we went after are more pacy ball carrying players who can play as out and out wingers if required like Nani, rather than playmakers or false wingers the kind of which Isco is.

Id probably prefer Willian (not to be mixed up with the bloke from the black eyes peas) of Shakhtar to Isco to be honest if Fergie feels he needs another attack minded midfielder

I watched the first half of the Malaga game last night and Isco seemed to have a free role, comfortable on either flank or through the middle in a pretty fluid system. He's also an entertainer, just great to watch and I think his speed with the ball makes up for any jet like pace he may lack overall.

If his buyout really is only £16M I can't see why we wouldn't try to get him.

JAMES Rodriguez for me, though he'll cost a bomb probably.

Scored another goal for Porto today.

I dont agree with Hazard. He specifically said he wanted to go to a club where he can make his place in the hole and he tries to play those key passes through the middle. He made a load of them last season in France.

Lucas Moura maybe, although he was originally thought of as a central attacking midfielder (aka. also in the hole)

They are both definitely a fair bit faster, dont think the rest applies

We could have signed him in the summer, for a decent fee. He's the shining light in the Malaga team now, and he has taken the champions league by storm.

We went for Kagawa and Isco has more experience playing wide.

Fergie will convert Kagawa into a winger or central midfielder - as we dont play 433 or 4231 often enough its 442 all the way.

Still doesnt change the fact Isco has far more experience playing wide and we're yet to see how we set up in the knockout stages of the champions league

Aren't Malaga loaded with money now? Don't think they will see a need to sell one of their star players to balance their bank books like Valencia or Alt Madrid do, unless the player himself throws a strop

They were but then their sugardaddy got pissed off with the City and refused to put anymore money into the club. They owe money to clubs for players they already bought, they sold Cazorla who was their best player last season and theres been no new investment into the team. I heard something about the owner saying he isnt done yet and more money might be available, but until he actually proves it by doing something, things arent rosy financially thats for sure. Selling your best player puts out a pretty alarming signal

Seems like Iniesta in waiting - so barca will be his final stop - I suppose an interim club will take him and then he will end up at Barca.

But doesnt mean he is best out wide. Isco is better playing as part of a three so he can roam across the pitch - how often have you seen Isco cross the ball? As to Kagawa - that is a project in progress - Fergie probably sees that Kagawa has a good engine and can possibly be converted. We tried the same with Anderson and we will try again with Kagawa.

Kagawa may not be best out wide either. And Evra crosses the ball more than our left winger no matter who it is. Incidently Young crosses the ball accurately 0.7 times a match this season including set pieces when he takes them. Kagawa 0.3

Isco crosses the ball accurately 0.5 times a game even though he's playing centrally but once again includes set pieces as far as I'm aware. I dont think thats the issue

I thought that apparently they bought Malaga as they wanted to put a number of their hotels their, so by buying the club and contributing to the local community the local council would let them build the hotels. But the council refused so the owner got pissed off. Can't remember where I read that, but I'm pretty sure that's what happened.

@Commadus Silva signed a new 5 year deal at City instead of continuing the link with Real Madrid, so don't be so sure that the Spanish giants can lure away every one of their national talents.

I wish I had the power to put this purchase in Fergie's mind

But I cant see a winter move anyways. Malaga qualified for the CL and I dont think Malaga need the money urgently

I love that clip posted above. Such elegance, those first touches, and a huge awareness of his surroundings. Ticks a lot of boxes for potential greatness. What a wonderful footballer.

Wherever he goes from here, I hope he isn't limited on any way on what he'll be allowed to do.
