Is Mbappe the best french player ever?

No disrespect to Ligue 1 but he needs to leave.

I say nah, he's doing just fine. If he brings CL to Paris it's a feat far more impressive than anything he can do with RM. Winning it with PSG would look like borderline exorcism, given how haunted that club is. From what we can hear/read, he's not keen on PL and in La Liga he'll get what, 6 competitive games out of 38?

If he continues at this level for the next ten years then it's possible he will be the best french player ever for sure.

Unreal player.

If only Modern Football (sheil-money) hadnt existed, he’d be playing in a good league for a good (non oil team) making his accomplishments far greater. Hopefully he leaves and proves himself in another league.

"Proves himself"

Are we really saying a man who just scored a hat-trick in a WC final needs to prove himself?

He doesn't need to prove himself.

I don't get this obsession of seeing play outside of France. It hasn't hindered his development as a footballer. His CL and WC records are a proof of that

bullshite again, staying in PSG doesn't stop him to already be one of the 2/3 best playersin the world and to score 4 goals in his first two WC finals

It's not bullshit is it he can score 50 goals this season for PSG but there will always be that 'well it's only the French league' argument

Doing it on the World stage is fantastic but he should be winning CL's and major honours in Spain/England

He really needs to leave psg at this point. He’s got two years on his contract and I’m pretty sure psg will happily keep hold of him and let him leave for nothing before they sell him elsewhere. When the time comes that his contract is over, expect them to come in with a ridiculous offer that he can’t refuse again. Maybe only Real Madrid could tempt him but he chose the money last time..

Yeah it’s stupid, France is a top 5 world league probably. He’s French, he’s from Paris, he’s playing in Paris too. If it’s important that every player plays in 2 leagues only then we might as well just go on with the super league

ehh, yes.. of course a man of his talent does? Or should he just play in a small league and only prove himself in internationals?

Ridiculous nitpicking of words from you :wenger: my post even starts by calling him unreal, of course I rate him very highly

The Spanish league is on a downward spiral (despite Real Madrid winning the CL) and the PL is completely dominated by Man City.

He's proved himself in the CL as well. He doesn't need to play in the Premier League or La Liga.

But both leagues are much stronger than the French he'd be playing better opposition on a weekly basis

Certainly has to be one of the best already. He's probably going to surpass all of them by the time he hangs his boots. Phenomenal player.

He doesn't need to tbh. He is already easily one of the best players in the world. The rest is just pandering to fans who would wanna see him play elsewhere.

Put it this way he wont be considered a great if he stays at PSG in that joke league for the majority of his career.

He could literally equal Ronaldo's record and score 40 goals a season for the next 10 years and there would still be question marks.

He's done the hard bit and proven himself on the world stage he could easily move to a bigger league and win real honours to end the doubters nobody is questioning his talent

He is a terrific player and is definitely one of the best players in the world, however he is absolutely wasted in France.

He is already considered a great player. What are you talking about ? I make a difference between needing to do it elsewhere and the possibility of doing it.

I don't think he needs to but a player of his caliber should imo be playing week in week out in the very best league (s) on the planet. Imagine Messi and Ronaldo spending those peak years in the French league. It's a respectable league of course it is - a very good one. But you want the best to be playing every week among the best at the highest possible standard.

He'll improve on the international stage even more when zidane takes over the national team and builds a system to get the best out of him.

Deschamp i think has never seen Escape to Victory. Give the ball to Mbappe.

Great player sure nobody is arguing that but if he want's to be mentioned among the best, and he's on that level to do so then a move will need to be made.

Should have ignored if you weren't going to respond with something besides a childish emoji.

The argument that he has prove himself in a better league is stupid.

It'd be more of a legacy boost winning a CL with PSG than to win 1 with Real Madrid.

Wouldn't you have considered him just that if he won the final tonight ? I get your point and maybe he will move one day, I am just saying there is no obligation

You don't play against the best every weeks in the PL or La Liga. In reality you play against the same caliber of players than you do in Ligue 1, Serie A or Bundesliga. The teams that you face week in week out are full of literal former average Ligue 1 players. The only difference is that you will get 4 to 6 more games against top teams in the league which isn't much when it essentially represents the equivalent of 1 or 2 more CL rounds.

No chance

Winning it with Madrid whilst being their best player is a much bigger step than winning it with PSG on a Saturday then playing Angers Sco and Ajjacio in his next 2 league games.

There's more pride to winning a CL for his hometown for the first time ever, anybody else in his shoes would do the same. There's nothing better than that on a personal level. Mbappe's clearly shown he doesn't give a damn what other people think, and I respect that.

It's not just the top 4-6 opponents. The PL for example is just consistent stronger than league 1 almost top to bottom. It's an overall higher level of football. Those teams might sign French league talent but it tends to be the more impressive part of that poop leaving a weaker pool behind

I mean there's 3 million reasons a week why he thinks that....

I simply cant argue with stupid views like the ones you put forward in your previous post.

Mbappe would have made more money than he or his children will ever need regardless of where he went, anybody who thinks he stayed just for the money is just looking for excuses why he didn't pick their team.

La Liga is dross from like 7th to 20th place. "Weekly" here means derbies with Barca and Atletico (assuming he moves to RM), and what, away game to Seville? That's 5 games out of 38. It's not the NBA. Every league in Europe has cannon fodder teams; Spain more so than most due to the financial disparity that had RM and Barca practically corpse camping the rest of the league for decades.

Instead of this tiresome drivel that "he must move", the average football fan should maybe find enough resolve to I dunno, tune in for a match or two of Ligue 1 before parroting the usual r/soccer garbage? But asking someone to actually form their own opinion seems like a strech nowadays.

Disagree.

Winning the CL with PSG is not damaging his legacy at all which is what some are implying in this thread.

I don't get why a player has to play for Real Madrid/Barcelona or in the Premier League. It's a nonsensical argument.

Oh come on now. He had pictures of real madrid players all over his walls as a kid lets not pretend he's at PSG because he loves the club he was all but signed for Madrid until the oil money was thrown at him.

It is only the top 4. There is this very strange phenomenon where a player has the same level of performances in other leagues but it is somehow interpreted as better when he sets foot in the PL.
