If he continues at this level for the next ten years then it's possible he will be the best french player ever for sure.

I don't think he needs to but a player of his caliber should imo be playing week in week out in the very best league (s) on the planet. Imagine Messi and Ronaldo spending those peak years in the French league. It's a respectable league of course it is - a very good one. But you want the best to be playing every week among the best at the highest possible standard.
He'll improve on the international stage even more when zidane takes over the national team and builds a system to get the best out of him.

You don't play against the best every weeks in the PL or La Liga. In reality you play against the same caliber of players than you do in Ligue 1, Serie A or Bundesliga.The teams that you face week in week out are full of literal former average Ligue 1 players. The only difference is that you will get 4 to 6 more games against top teams in the league which isn't much when it essentially represents the equivalent of 1 or 2 more CL rounds.

Winning it with Madrid whilst being their best player is a much bigger step than winning it with PSG on a Saturday then playing Angers Sco and Ajjacio in his next 2 league games.
There's more pride to winning a CL for his hometown for the first time ever, anybody else in his shoes would do the same. There's nothing better than that on a personal level. Mbappe's clearly shown he doesn't give a damn what other people think, and I respect that.
It's not just the top 4-6 opponents. The PL for example is just consistent stronger than league 1 almost top to bottom. It's an overall higher level of football. Those teams might sign French league talent but it tends to be the more impressive part of that poop leaving a weaker pool behind

La Liga is dross from like 7th to 20th place. "Weekly" here means derbies with Barca and Atletico (assuming he moves to RM), and what, away game to Seville? That's 5 games out of 38. It's not the NBA. Every league in Europe has cannon fodder teams; Spain more so than most due to the financial disparity that had RM and Barca practically corpse camping the rest of the league for decades.
