Last summer we offered around a 100M if I remember correctly but they wanted 120M, do you think we should have spent 120M on him?People said that last year and we wasted an entire window

This insisting on certain numbers is so silly. We don't know the accounts, the details, the budget.Last summer we offered around a 100M if I remember correctly but they wanted 120M, do you think we should have spent 120M on him?

Its not my money but it affects the club’s budged to sign other players, not only on the current window but for future ones. This insisting on certain numbers is so silly. We don't know the accounts, the details, the budget.
If you want to sign a player, you have to pay what it takes to buy him. What else is there to say about it?
And if your club can afford it, why the hell not? What do you care? And if it can't, it's not an option.
As for the whole "worth it" back and forth, again, don't you feel it's silly for fans to claim 'player x is worth 100m, but NO WAY he's worth 120m'?
Where did I say that? I said we wasted the summer.
Which we did as we done next to nothing to improve our first 11 for the current season.
No use chasing a player not getting him and then wanting credit for that too.
Sure could pretend to go for a top player every year if that gets the owners credit.
The second Sancho wasn't being bought we should have spent that money elsewhere on someone who could help us this season
Because buying Partey and Jota did wonders in improving the league position of the clubs buying them ehIf we’d spent the Sancho or even VDB/Amad money on Partey and Jota we’d have won the league or come very close. Fine fine margins

It is of course valid but I think it's silly if we as fans get too hung up on the numbers, because we're not in an informed position to judge these. Its not my money but it affects the club’s budged to sign other players, not only on the current window but for future ones.
We as a club have been ripped before, hence way we are one of the biggest spenders in the world without actually having a worldclass squad, so I think the “its/its nor worth it” debate is interesting and valid.
For many different reasons I'd prefer Sancho over Haaland this summer. Haaland is a final piece in the puzzle signing with his daft fees and how he plays.I might be the only one on the forum who prefers Sancho to Erling this summer. Get Jadon in first and if possible, get Haaland in 2022. In any case, I don’t believe the latter will be going anywhere this window

It's a lot of hindsight though. I for one am very, very surprised at how the VDB thing has gone, I would have expected him to surely be of use to you.I know what you mean but they’ve both been injured. Both were available for around VDB money. Whose to say that they wouldn’t have stayed fit if they came here? Jota has been waiting for the step up for a while and he’s been really bright when he’s been fit. Perfect rotation all across the front 3 instead of running Rashford into the ground. I thought what Partey did against us was far more impressive than Rice Kante Fabiniho etc and then he got injured.
It’s not such a wild take. Both players were clearly available and ready to move but we signed Amad and VDB instead who haven’t helped us at all?

Amad is a kid, only joined in January too, so it doesn't make much sense to regard him as a 'summer signing' meant to help the season's performance.
I think the point about goals from counter attacks and getting lots space could be said about many players. Wouldn't you say the same applies to Rashford for instance? People have this idea that the best players score all these really difficult goals, when in reality it's more often some defender messing up, a player being afforded too much space, counterattacks and scrappy goals in a crowded penalty area. I think this idea that Sancho, or other players you don't watch regularly, gets way more space is magnified by people watching goal compilations or highlight reels. Look at goal compilations from wingers in the premier league and you'll see there's plenty of goals just like that.Anything above £60m is a gamble for me
- A lot of his goals this season have been easy counter-attwcks with lots of space, he wouldnt get those in the PL
- Didn't look that great in the CL last couple of seasons
- Dortmund won't make top 4 which should drive price down
- If we wait until next summer he has 1 year left on his contract
- Less relevant but we've been burnt before with Kagawa and Mikhi who had very similar numbers to Sancho.
He'd improve us definitely but he's closer to the level of buying someone like Pepe than he is to Mbappe/Neymar

Absolute no brainer this one for me. With him on the right, Marcus on the left and Bruno through the middle we have a fluid, dynamic forward line that would rival any in world football. Add to that he’s still very young and appears to actually want to come here (speculating) I think we need to go all out again for this this summer.
A much younger Pepe but agree with the sentiment of the post.
£60m + Diallo on loan for 2 years (with reasonable clauses to bring him back if he is not played) would be the best we should offer.
If we go for Raphinha we can overspend on Haaland. It makes sense for this summer. Ship has sailed on Sancho. Plus sanho is more suited to LW than rashford. Personally i like Sancho Haaland and Raphinha leading our line next year.
He cant cost more than 50 million and believe me thats a fair price. He is a very similar profile to sancho with a natural left foot and already plays here in the league. He also plays on the right. This is economically the best transfer for us if we also want to pursue Haaland. Sancho is a right footed play that prefers the left hand side. Ship has sailed. Id rather use the money for haaland raphinha and a deeplying playmaker to replace fred. Thats how we win the league next year.Doesn't seem like it at all though. We'd be ripped off for Raphinha, so it's not like we'd be saving a lot. They've only just bought him.
People need to get real with the Haaland thing.

You won't. Neither of us are DoFs.I would love to sit on a negotiation table with you on the other side.

Still not convinced he’s worth a big fee. Would be a massive gamble.
I think if Cavani stays, we will prioritise Sancho as our main target
I think if Cavani leaves, we will prioritise Haaland/Kane
