Is Jadon Sancho really worth the 100 plus million fee?

He`ll cost closer to 70m in my opinion but I can defo see us starting off with an offer around 50m to test the waters. No chance he costs close to 100m. I`m still gobsmacked they rejected 80m UP FRONT plus 15m add ons

We desperately need a RW. Sancho can play left and right, he'd give us great options, and maybe Diallo will be everything he's made out to be. It'd be great for us. We need to sign him up.

Perfect player for us. If we can get him much cheaper then that’s some kind of silver lining out of the pandemic. I reckon what’ll happen is we will smugly lowball them “monitoring the situation” all summer and then he’ll sign a new deal. His form will pick up again and he’ll end up going to Bayern Real or Liverpool for a lot more than we were offering as the supposed only show in town. This transfer has been going on for 2 summers and now into the 3rd but fans are seeing it as some kind of victory that we might get 20/30 million off. We paid Sanchez and Jose about 40 million between them just to go and work somewhere else for free for context and yet we still don’t have a right winger... priorities.

He`s desperate to leave his chances of signing a new deal are as likely as Donald Trump being a Pope. Even if his form picks up it would have to be something SPECTACULAR for it to push his fee close to 100m and with how BVB`s season is going and how their finances have taken a massive massive hit thats unlikely either. As for other clubs Bayern with Gnabry, Sane and Coman have ZERO need for Sancho(plus BVB would rather sell abroad), LFC have to sell one of Mane/Salah and they`ll need EXTREMELY good luck in finding a buyer willing to splash a huge fee and wages on 29yr old wingers in this market when Barca are facing the prospect of bankruptcy and Madrid giving players wage cuts while having Mbappe as a priority. Very little will change this summer in terms of competition Utd are still heavy favorites(provided we get CL football) we had agreed personal terms and agent fees that hasnt changed and yeah we made mistakes in the past but if we do get Sancho cheaper this summer it kind of compensates for our past mistakes

Good. In a worsened econonic state coupled with a year later into his contract, I can see it not being too far off this. Especially with seemingly little competition for his signature.
No bullshit 120m by August you arrogant English plebs, the market will have magically recovered by next summer nonsense this time

Really not a fan of spending this money on Sancho when we are so bad defensively and don't have a prolific goal scorer.

If we want him we'll get him for a reasonable price, however most of the noise seems to be along the lines of yeah the Sancho ship has sailed. Around this time last year the noise was very much the opposite. Plenty of time for that to change, and it might just be a tactic.

Noise from the media last night and today suggests a CB is a priority and one of Axel/Bailly will leave so a defender will come in and if Pogba goes a DM is likely to come in too I dont think Sancho`s pursuit affects things that much anyway especially if his price will be heavily discounted

I guess if they feel there is money from last summer to spend then yeah it makes sense and I'm all for it. I'm not sure if I'd rather him or Grealish though.

Even though Grealish is probably the better player Sancho has more potential, more adept on either wing(Grealish best off through the middle or LW the last positions we need a signing) and cheaper. He`s still the better option. Not to mention Sancho and Diallo means Greenwood exclusively plays as a ST his best position

With Sancho possibly being available for 70m, it could also mean we could perhaps try and get Grealish as well given Pogba gets sold for 50m+. I honestly think VDB doesn't fit our style of play and without Bruno, we look toothless. I'd be willing to move VDB on and get Sabitzer (press machine) and Declan Rice or Zakaria to replace Matic.

I think Sancho would replace Martial in the squad.

Cavani will stay another year and we’ll look for a striker in 2022. I wouldn’t be surprised if we got someone like Ings in to cover Cavani.

The smug audacity of Dortmund last summer makes this all the sweeter. They played hard ball and got well and truly fecked.

Seems like a dead cert to end up back in England and just seems a perfect fit all round for United.

It makes too much sense so it won't happen, he'll end up at Chelsea or something.

Dortmund was obliged to give up a player under a contract, but they clearly didn't follow the well known and well accepted rules.

Yeah because now he is hitting the prime years of his career that has been hampered by injury, he's going to come here and play second fiddle to a near 34, not.

So unless we are going all out for a first team striker, I don't see sancho replacing Tony and ings coming in to play second fiddle.

They where not. But if they had half an IQ they would have sold for 80 million plus with add ons.

Nah, instead they tried to hold out for a ridiculous fee, took to social media to make sly digs at the club, kept an unhappy player who has subsequently underperformed, found themselves absolutely hammered by Covid, their form has fallen off a cliff, and now they'll be forced to sell that same player for significantly less than what was originally offered... And breath.

They sure showed us!

If we lose Pogba, we will only have one or two creative players Bruno or (Shaw) to create chances/assists for us. So it makes sense if Pogba’s money is used for Sancho to replace the losing creativity in the team. We can improve our defense with whatever budget we have this summer pre Pogba’s sale and stick another season with Cavani.

Wouldn't a creative midfielder a better replacement than Sancho? Someone who can create and is better defensively than Pogba would be perfect for us. RB and CB should also be our priority.

And who is this creative midfielder who can create and better defensively?

If we are able to sell Pogba and buy Sancho for +10m, we should go all in.

Either Grealish or Sancho should be signed if possible. Sancho may not be having the best of seasons but he has craft and guile in abundance and would be a very exciting signing for us. We need more players in our team who have high creativity against the low block with added close control and driibbling in confined spaces. Either Grealish or Sancho could be that player for us, which would really help us to unhinge opposition defensive structures which would create openings for the team at a much higher than level we're seeing currently IMO.

I dont think our current setup really works with a creative CM. We play best with good pressers in the pivot positions with the creativity left to Fernandes. Sancho on the right would provide another creative outlet making us less predictable.

Ed and co would start with 25m + adds on, and spend the entire summer to get to 50m + adds on offer.

This is a bit of a football manager question -

Can we keep Rashford, Haaland, Greenwood, Sancho, Amad and Grealish happy (maybe add a player like pellestri/another RW if we have to).

Some of these players are versatile for example Greenwood can play striker or RW, Grealish can play LW, LAM, CAM possibly LCM, Sancho is LW,RW and maybe even CAM or cover CF, Rashford is CF,LW, RW etc

Is it realistic we can pull a city type squad and keep everyone happy?

The question should be are the players keeping the club happy. The players get paid to perform.
There's the door if you're unhappy

After all the drama of last season and us looking like mugs at the end of it, we could end up doing an amazing bit of business if Dortmund miss out on top four and have to sell him for a cut price. Though they'll probably start a bidding war with another English club to try and drive the price up.

Players like Rashford, Sancho, Haaland and Grealish will not be up for being rotated often so then you get in the way of developing Amad and Greenwood. I mean I think if you brought in a proper Fernandinho style CDM you could play Bruno and Grealish. So then you have Rashford, Sancho, Haaland, Amad, and Greenwood all vying for 3 positions. Which would be amazing as a squad, but you can’t see any of them being happy. The issue is they’re just all so young, it’s not like having Cavani now with Greenwood thinking he’ll take the CF role soon enough.

It was the genius of Guardiola which made it work for City Fenandinho wasn't even a CDM he was box to box and to put him with Two Attacking Midfielders in Silva and De Bruyne and Excel with that I don't think any other manager would pull it off .
Having all these players could work for couple of years at best because Amad and Greenwood are youngster's but beyond that it would be a problem if they progress as expected .

We didn't look like mugs not spending 120m euros.

It was a covid hit year and it wasn't going away for those who have a bit of sense. Dortmund had this silly public very short set date and then went around producing video interviews of their players talking about Sancho staying. Also reports of Dortmund confident they'll get even more next year. Same reports now saying it's dropped to 100m euro, still way off though.

It's actually very good we didn't just easily give in to such prissy demands for future deals. We're quoted 90m for Morata but then they sell him to someone with more money than us for 60m. We have to change this.

Excellent point!
This Man Utd "tax" needs to be dealt with and I am glad we are starting to hold our ground on deals, and that goes both ways. Buying and Selling.

Nice finish from him just now to put Dortmund 1-0 up. Dortmund defending is absolutely woeful, allowed Bebou through 1v1 twice now, luckily his finishing is just as woeful.

His finishing is one of his best asset as well as his decision making in the penalty box.

Cant post links so pasting this tweet:

Jadon Sancho has turned it around in the Bundesliga

Before Jan 1: 11 games, 5 assist Since Jan 1: 8 games, 4 goals, 4 assists
