Is Jadon Sancho really worth the 100 plus million fee?

Still don’t want him at 100 million. Much rather spread that kind of money around on quality prospects instead. If his drop in form makes Dort rethink their asking price, he might be worth another run in the summer. But the price has to come down significantly.

At this point he’s no worth more than 60m or 70m max. They’ve lost there chance to make a lot of money. Now I looks like united are taking a risk, if buying him.
Cheap? They aren't going to give him away. It'll still be a big transfer for big money. I'd rather we go all in for Grealish at this point.

As others have said, Grealish offers much more of a guarantee and is far more flexible as a player. We've been victims of buying players from the Bundesliga who excelled in a particular system but really struggled/failed outside of it. Someone posted Sancho's numbers detailing his lack of defensive contribution which was also concerning.
Dont think many are writing him off. However it does make you question the price tag of 120M . I dont think they will get anything near that with the Global Pandemic , fans not in the stadium and Dip in form

Yeah, +100m was always nuts, even before the pandemic. They might accept a bid for 60-70m in the summer i guess. Should still be on our radar imo.
I’d happily sell Pogba, Lingard, Mata, James, Matic, Jones, Rojo, Romero and Chong just to bring in Sancho AND Grealish which for me would leave us only a pure out and out defensive midfielder away from the title.
Dalot and Pereira are on the wage books too, plenty of deadwood to axe still, Ole has done a tremendous job rebuilding!

The only real loss is match-day revenue which is obviously a significant loss, but United have a lot of commercial partners which means they aren't as worse off as other clubs.

If United don't sign him at £100M they face either losing him to another team, or when there are max vaccinations (most western countries will be vaccinated by around September) if Sancho goes on to have a brilliant end of season, he could be worth even more post-covid.
Again yes Match Day loss is significant, but United can still go deep into the transfer market, the issues are other factors such as the Glazers taking dividends out the club last year.
At no point should the likes of Sancho be allowed to go to a rival.
Even if we manage to sell all those players we won’t get more than 60-65 million anyway. Sancho and Grealish would cost around 200 million. We don’t have that kind of money at the moment, plus this would still not solve our DM issue.
Exactly no one is going to be paying 100m or more for him, Dortmund weren’t being realistic and will probably struggle to sell him for 80m this summer even if he gets back to his best.

You talk about it like this is a dead cert. There's every chance that Sancho could end up being another player who looks much better by playing in the Bundesliga. Unless they have proved it consistently with good performances including the Champions League for more than 3 seasons atleast we shouldn't pay more than 60-70mil ever for a Bundesliga prospect. It is an inferior league by far and should be treated more like Ligue 1. We've seen far too many big money flops from Bundesliga players here in the Prem to be that confident of dropping 100mil on him.
Realistically he has only had 2 or 3 good games anyway so its a pretty knee jerk suggestion
There are always 'flops' as you said, and there is always a risk with any transfer, that's up to the scouts and Ole to decide though

Always had my doubts. He rarely performed outside the Bundesliga. Fully behind going for Grealish over him now.

I would love grealish but i dont think we should try to sign him. First of all he would cost close to what bvb were asking for sancho given his importance to villa. He also plays in attacking midfield or left forward where we have bruno and rashford. Given we have so many other areas of the team in need of improvement spending all of our transfer budget on a position of relative strength doesnt seem to make sense

Overhyped player for some random reasons. We've seen first hands plenty of players running the show in the Bundesliga playing for Dortmund to then turn into almost nothing players as soon as they moved away.

Unless Diallo turns into a world class prodigy, Sancho is still a no brainer signing. Yeah not a great half season, it happens. He'll be fine. He's a quality winger who both scores and creates in crazy amounts, is a great dribbler and an excellent passer. Hes also 5 years younger than Grealish, and a natural on either the right or the left, whereas Grealish is only a natural on the left or as a 10, which happen to be our 2 best positions already where he wouldn't even be an upgrade. Sancho every day would still be the perfect signing for our attack. Would help out Wan Bissaka loads as well, as evidenced by him doing better when Rashford is in front vs the usual nobody hanging out wide.
Hes 20 years old and has already had 2 seasons in the league where he got roughly 15 goals and 15 assists. He's a brilliant young player. Don't be ridiculous. He's being disgustingly underrated now on the back of a slow start to the season after he didn't get the move he wanted. It happens.

Personally I think 12 months is optimistic. Nevertheless it would be stupid for United to pay £100m for a player that other clubs won't go that high for. Chelsea, PSG and City are the only clubs that could afford that evaluation. Chelsea, given their current level of investment, are unlikely to pursue him. Dortmund stuck with their evaluation last summer but I think that was foolish as they wont see that money for him this season. Fans wont be back this season and clubs are suffering because of it. More so Dortmund than us. Paying £100m for a player when you're the only ones in for him and when the selling club isn't in a great financial position is ridiculous. If the club decides to back out of this one i won't blame them - £100m for any player is a lot, especially on a young player where you're buying potential. There have been lots of examples of young players going for big money and failing to live up to the hype (Refer to Demebelle, Pullic or Kai)
I'd rather go for Grealish and Upamecano for that money (and Rice when Pogba goes) before going straight in for Sancho
