Is it time to burst “Rashy’s” bubble?

Honestly he's always been a decent player who's hugely overrated. His actual skill is very average and he often looks like he's tangled in his own legs, or has no idea what to do next. I don't think he'd be in the first team for other top 6 teams.

I think it's incredibly frustrating that his decision making (and attitude) seems to regress.
Would be a great option to rotate with an accomplished goal scorer, but not good enough to start week in
and week out, especially against parked buses where his weaknesses are exposed.

I think there's a theme with our current squad, that we give players roles that are too big for them to fill, for example with regards to Rashford, Lingard, McTominay, James etc.

In a more healthy, stronger squad that many inconsistent players would never play simultaneously.

The was one occasion when we could of launched an attack and he just shot from 35 yards where the ball just trickled to the keeper. We were chasing the game and had players in attacking positions and I thought "this dude greedy as hell"

EDIT: that was the clip

With the right experienced support, he'd be great. He has a partner who looks half arsed and tries when he wants.

Too big a responsibility on his shoulders hence the expectancy when there shouldn't be. What I'd give to have Zlatan up top with him supporting

Waddle made a good point on radio 5 live. This is the first year he is being called into the starting XI every game. Previously he was called on 2 or 3 out of every 4 or 5 games, so his inclusion wasnt consistent. Now he is in every week so his form is inconsistent. Waddle reckons it can take a player a bit of time to find consistency. Im happy to wait for it to come but if it goes on for too long he needs to be dropped. Problem then is, for who?

Palace also had 7 players back, yes he could and should have passed but I don't fault him for taking responsibility. He must have been as frustrated as any one else.

We just don't have the quality in attacking positions. Lingard has had it and we lack quality alongside Pogba. What an opportunity missed to even try Gomes

You answered your own question there.

Martial injured? Lukaku off, Sanchez looking to be off loaded. Where does this leave us?

What a fecking policy to know this was happening but not put in a plan to get a forward. Let's just keep 6 defenders we don't need...fecking hell!

Not bothered about him. The problem lies in the creativity and quality of buildup play. I still believe in him and Martial.

Thats why you call them rhethorical questions

Third match of the season and we are turning on everyone. There was hope that we might be better than last season but it is not going to be. Let us try and support the lads. Potentially we might have won at wolves and got something yesterday(Even though the performance was bad).

I am just hoping that things will click into place and we will get a little bit of luck. Anyway I think Rashford will become top class forward at United. We just have to steel ourselves for a tide of bad results coming our way before the ship is steadied under Ole. Vermin Glazers are to be blamed for this mess too.

Waddle is talking bollocks. Rashford has been basically first choice under Ole as long as he's fit.

He's just not that good and if he weren't English, the media would be after his blood by now.

Rashford is an exceptionally good young talent but we are putting a lot of pressure on him and martial this season. If they can raise the bar and bang in 15-20 goals each it will be a career defining season for each of them.

It's a lot of pressure though and if they don't convert we have nobody to help them out in the squad. We sold Lukaku, Sanchez is the forgotten man. No other top team would have gone for such inexperience in their front line. Aguero, Kane, Aubameyang, Mane,Salah, Firmino are guaranteed 20 goals /assists a season strikers (barring injuries). they are backed up with players like Jesus, Lacazette, Pepe, Moura, Son who will all probably hit 10 goals and more this year.

We have martial and Rashford and if they don't score who is going to take the pressure off?

There was a really good chance for him to score in the early part of the first half but he somehow just left the ball behind or misdribbled.

We sometimes forget how young he is and that strikers of his age are prone to inconsistencies.

It also doesn't help that he is played out of position on the left flank. I still think Martial is better out wide with Rashford through the centre. Rashford is incapable of putting in a good cross or pass from the flanks. Its just not in his skillset yet especially against teams double teaming him and sitting back.

Yet I suppose OGS wants to hide Martial up top because his work rate isn't up to par on the left flank?

We need to start playing our players in their best positions. Although it seems Dan James is now looking like our best left winger. So that leaves Rashford as the odd man out again? Back to the right wing he goes?
How can you say that when Martial is a better finisher, the most clinical player at the club, has better hold up play and can actually bring players into play. He can also fashion chances for himself.

There is really no justification to switch them especially when we already struggle to create chances as it is and it would be better to at least have a striker who can create for himself when starved of services.

Exactly this. Our senior players are poor, meaning we over rely on young players and dross like Lingard. Lukaku, Pogba, Sanchez, Mikhtaryan, Fred, have let the side down. These guys were supposed to carry the burden of creativity and goalscoring and they let us down. Pogba and Lukaku less so, the other 3 majorly.

I thought maybe English wasnt your first language. If it wasnt then you probably wouldnt know about rhethorical questions.

It isn't. I speak 3 languages though.

But I'll wager I know more about grammar, spelling punctuation and features of language.

Now, shall we continue the discussion about football or do you wish to patronise me further?

Im not trying to patronise you. I dont even own a shop (joke)... but I wasnt. But back to the rhethorical question. Sometimes on here when people state obvious questions, people answer. If you go around trying to answer rhethorical questions on here youll go insane.

But yes, if we have to drop someone, particularly a forward, due to form, we're in trouble. Our whole season hinges on Martial and Rashford staying fit for the whole year. Its a dangerous situation.

Let's start with getting him off free kick duties. The original version of Ronaldo is absolute shit at them never mind a ali express like copy artist.

I dislike him, to be honest. He seems big-headed and has a hugely inflated opinion of his own talents. He acts like Ronaldo yet lacks any of the trickery and skill of that man - he's a glorified kick-and-run merchant, all he has is admittedly great acceleration and the ability to burst past a defender. His finishing is so-so, his set pieces are fecking abysmal and he doesnt have any actual skill. He gets past players through pace, not skill. Once that pace diminishes, he'll be a busted flush - I expect that to be around 29-30, like Sanchez.

So he'll have 8 years more of top level football?

Sure he won't complain:lol:

I like him but I don’t think he was ready to become the main man at a side like United.

I think he tries too hard to do everything, and tries to be Roy of the Rovers.

We could really of done with a experienced top quality player off the right and at #10 to take the pressure off Rashford, Martial etc.

Couldn't have said it any better myself, look fantastic in his first 3-4 months but really didn't kick off from there, feel like we have been stuck in a time warp believing there is more to come like Danny Welbeck.

Mutton dressed as lamb.

He has no competition and is far too comfortable in his position. Freekicks are abysmal, finishing so so, has no tricks only pace, decision making is the thing I’d drop him for until he learns it’s a team game.

Billy big boots needs his balloon bursting, hopefully He will learn from that and not cry like a baby. Will Ole do it? No chance he is upsetting ‘rashy’

Edit: needs somebody to chew him out every time he does his greedy thing, I’m looking at you Harry!!!

I feel like that tends to be a often trend at United recently as well as some of the other English clubs.

When a young academy player break through they are automatically “world class” potential and massively over hyped. Then when there real quality is shown they tend to be average.

Adnan, Rashford, Welbeck, Macheda, James Wilson the list goes on and on. The same thing is happening now with Gomes, Chong, and Greenwood. Since they are academy players they get overhyped.

Granted out of all of them I do like Greenwood’s chances the best. But if he gets thrown to the pit to soon he will undoubtedly suffer the same fate.

As for Rashford he truly is just an average player he is Everton level at his absolute best. If he was bought by the club OR if he played for any other club the opinion on the CAF would be the exact same and no one would think twice to sign a player like Rashford.

It's weird how much leeway other players get, especially when they're young, but Rashford gets none of it.

We do need a better front line, that much is obvious. Rashford can be a part of it all, probably as a squad option/competition. Next summer we need a RW and a LW, and at least one CM. So I suspect we'll get one of those and be here again next season, wondering when or if we'll ever have a team we're somewhat happy with, nevermind a squad.

His biggest problem is he can't dribble. Great shot , has pace, that is it. A good player can move with the ball while protecting it and pass it to a player in a better position. Something he doesn't seem to do.

His dribbling reminds me of Danny Welbeck. Will constantly leave the ball behind his legs. Welbeck has better link up play as well.

Name me any other young United players is on Rashford's salary, and has had as many appearances as him?

I've always believed that he is our Welbeck (without those injuries). I think that we are putting too much weight on his shoulder and he can't really handle it. He is good player, don't get me wrong. But he is not that good as 90% of our fans think. He complicates lots of time and should by playing to his strenght, speed, pace, directly play. As soon he stops he doesn't really know what to do.

Rushford issue is mental. I don't think we can see even improvement in 2019 or beyond. You need a coach to teach you how to play and Ole isn't that coach. Rushford has got good pace, good technique and a powerful shot but in real game, he cannot put it together. When to shoot, when to take on the defender, when to pass is all over the place. Looks the Sterling, Pep manage to really improve him as a footballer. Rushford would need a coach to improve.

Rashy is squad player at best. Its not his fault that this poor United side is relying on him as if he was Eric Cantona.

Rashford’s problem is that he’s a decent prospect with good ability, thrust into leading striker at club and international level, being paid like a superstar, with expectations now at a level his experience and talent can’t live up to and the free kick performance would suggest his ego too.

I’ve thought for his talents, he’s not ever going to be ‘superstar’ like some do.

Patient build up and maturity? Does Sterling just crack a shot because he is angry. Wait for your team mates to join or do we not work on attacking moves in training?

I've stated before that we don't do the simple things well enough.

City have got it down to near perfection and Pep would be giving Rashford pelters for not passing. Then again, this would have been worked at with Pep.
