Can we sack him now and replace him for the next game?
Thanks
Thanks
One match closer to him being gone
They're top of their group and have the mighty Qatar next. I think they're probably finishing first. No, he’s smart. He want to keep his options open. If France wins group D and Netherland doesn’t win group B, it might be better to finish second…
Nar, he’ll draw it. Get lucky in next round and the FA will be delighted with him.
Center backs are extremely average, starting full backs are just ok.
There is definitely an argument that he is doing what should be done in tournament football. Frustrating cautious, but lose tonight and pressure is on.
I still think England fans have the wrong perspective about their team too. Overrating the quality of players in the extreme.
Center backs are extremely average, starting full backs are just ok, and the midfield, while tenacious, is light years behind the likes of Spain in terms of technical ability.
His tournament results up to this point have been very good and if he makes a semi-final again, he will be the English manager with the best overall record.
I understand the frustration at so much caution, but that is tournament football. Add to that the fact that he simply doesn’t have the team that the fans seem to think he has.
It's a shame a golden generation of talent wasted under this timid coach. I won't call him shit buthe definitely is not a good coach.
They are playing the USA, though, not Spain. This team should have control in a match like this, but fail to do so because they do not press nor do they push up the pitch. This is a major reason why the midfield cannot control possession because they are too far back. This creates a large distance between the central midfielders and forward line, which, in turn, forces Kane to drop deeper to get possession.
He also does not play the players who are in better form: both Foden and Rashford should be getting in over Sterling and Mount.
As i said in the other thread I think Southgate has had some very good luck in the draws and it seems cruel to say that but it's true. His best results were against Germany and Denmark (and with all due respect, man for man, Denmark are not England's class). I think if they meet France, Spain or Brazil or a really good side they get beat.Well, he got them to semi-final in 2018 which is England's best result apart from winning the WC back in 1966. Also last year went all the way to final of Euros and only lost on penalties, which is England's best result in that competition ever. I get why fans are frustrated but one day Southgate will leave his role and be proud of how he done. Especially if England can go far again on this tournament.
Who is over rating the team? The defense has never been poorer in the last 20 years. The midfield lacks depth and we have some of the most inconsistent wide players in World football. There is definitely an argument that he is doing what should be done in tournament football. Frustrating cautious, but lose tonight and pressure is on.

One centre half is Guardiola’s first choice defender, as for the full backs, Trent is just an afterthought, a player voted in the UEFA team of the year for 2019 and CL team of the season in 2022.
The team looks average because Southgate picks an average team.
Agree on that, don't fancy England to beat any of those if they were to play against them.As i said in the other thread I think Southgate has had some very good luck in the draws and it seems cruel to say that but it's true.
