Is Fred the worst regular starter for United in living memory?

High up in an online poll? Well that’s proved me wrong. Somebody had to be high up in the poll for the Watford game. Does that mean they were exceptional?

It's either the entirety of the Caf / people voting on the official Utd channel are idiots or you're wrong. The simpler explanation is usually the right one.

Their midfielder runs behind our midfield for a free shot at the edge of our box. What is Fred doing? Watching the ball. As always.
We win the ball high up the pitch and create an opportunity. Who wins the ball? Fred, as always.

Or to be in the top 3 of a poll you have to be one of the least shit players. It’s not rocket science.

Mctominay is far worse than Fred.

Both are nowhere near the quality we need but atleast Fred has endeavour and tries to play a forward pass. There is nothing in Mctominay's game that is redeemable, just a pundit favourite cause he is a Scottish lad from the academy.

You guys need to have a look at your biases then. He was fairly high up in the MoTM poll after the Chelsea game and I think the majority opinion was that he has been great.
You have no right to talk about bias if you truly believe Fred was "exceptional" in that game.

Some posters are looking proper cnuts right now.

Best and worst of him tonight. But he’s clearly very useful.

Fred wins a penalty after assisting. As always.

He's been good and he's been bad, but he's far from the worst. The worst might be Falcao.

Has to foul him on the half way line there too, Ralf will be making sure he does in future.

He seems to play it physical and fair. He doesn’t leave the foot in at in. If he doesn’t get the ball he doesn’t often take the man. He just tries again instead. Weird player but seriously likeable on the effort front. Makes a change from so many players who’ve gone through the club in the last 9 years

He should learn to tactical foul though

The cult of Fred could rival marital FC that's for sure.

We've become accustomed to mediocrity, the bare minimum standard and we call it exceptional now. Wow.

Said it for a year, he’s a very good player. And I’ll keep saying it even if he has a bad game next time out.

So true. It’s always the same frustrating people shouting like their opinion is gospel too despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Over and over. Lack of effort, aggression and heart has been and is a huge miss in our team. Id go as far as to say we are shite without Fred unless we sign some new players with similar workrate and skills. Who? He’s been massive in anything good we’ve done when it comes to pressing and winning the ball high up. He has helped us attack and win and compete so much more than we would have without him otherwise but blinkered posters wont admit to it because it doesn’t back their original agenda so they double down every game, looking like fools tonight. One of the first names on the teamsheet since he came through his rocky start. Glad Ralf was there to see this. Get someone who can dictate in beside him and we will win the midfield most of the time. Sick of saying it.

Some players lack consistency from game to game, some lack from half to half. Fred is basically phase of play to phase of play

he’ll do something batshit stupid then something amazing

Was trying hard to make us lose then probably won us the game

Fabulous post.

He had an excellent game against Chelsea, and you can see so many posters couldn't wait to attack him after that. Any small error was exasperated, and positive was gleaned over. He's so important to this team. Having a system that suits him will only see him get better. Significantly better.

Did excellently tonight. Had some scrappy moments but he was a difference maker. Lovely feet for the assist and worked incredibly hard to win the ball. The fact he's out best midfielder shouldn't be in doubt at this stage.

After a really rough start to the match, he was great tonight. If you can't recognize that he did a lot more good than bad tonight, then you're a hater.

Contender for MOTM tonight. Two impressive performances in a row but a comical Fred Moment in both of them for the haters.

The cult of Fred are a group of fans that think he isn’t as shit as some of you lot say. He has some fantastic games and some shockers. He’s somewhere in between, but in a system where he’s only got a specific role he could be a very tidy player.

He was our best player today.

Exactly. Top player when he's more advanced, awful when he's deep

This. The only doubt in my mind is if he can find the right pass when his pressure inevitably succeeds under Rangnick in the attacking 3rd. He did against Villareal. Didn't against Chelsea.

He does everything at 100 miles an hour - which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Further up the pitch it's a huge asset. We've seen that over the last two games.
