Is Cristiano Ronaldo a United Legend?

I've always been put off him but even I can acknowledge him as a United legend. He was arguably the most important player during one of the most successful periods in United's history.

He is.
But we are a club with many legendary players.
Ronaldo is well down the list.
He could have been at the very top.

In Ronaldo’s mind, United is a Ronaldo Legend.

Great player, but even greater ego.

No. Yes. Kinda. He's basically our Alcibiades.

We'll hate him again for awhile and then probably forgive him

Yes he is.
Loved seeing him score for United again. And hope he stays.

He played like a legendary player and he is a legendary player in the history of football. However, even as a Manchester United fan i think of Real Madrid when i think of Ronaldo. He is more a Real Madrid legend than a Manchester United legend. How many other players are considered legends of two elite highest level clubs?

He is. Won more than Cantona here. Catalyst for one of our most successful periods.

and I think he’s in the Top15 of our all time best goal scorers

Dude has been so good for so long he's a legend for two blueblood football clubs. He's also a legendary footballer from Sporting, yet he never reached the pinnacle of the sport for Sporting and they regard him a legend.

Dunno why bump, we had bigger discussion about it this time last year, now might not be fair because there is negative wave about news of him leaving, Said years ago, last year too, he never gonna be a legend for me, plenty disagreed, still remember lines like "what if he wins us a title next season or season after, would be then" funny shit looking now.

Anybody who calls him a legend is more Cristiano FC fan than United fan.
Prick gave us two good seasons, requested a transfer, spent best years in other club, came back at end of his career and wants to leave again.

It helped having the best team in most positions in SAF's whole United career though.

Also we had never won the league in 25 years until Cantona arrived, he had an enormous influence on the team, especially towards the younger players.

This. Mercenary. Amazing player though.

Cantona is and always will be a bigger legend at United

Being a 'Legend' is more than just playing well, Ronaldo gave us 3 years of his Prime, after the second he complained about being a 'slave' because we didn't let him go to Real Madrid, despite everything that Fergie and the club invested in him.

He was willing to go to City last year. His agent offered him to Chelsea for next year. He has no affection really for this club. His affection was for Sir Alex.

Ive enjoyed watching him over the years but i don't particularly buy into this 'loves the club' he used us a stepping stone to get to madrid.

Of course he is not. He is first and foremost a Real legend. Then you can twist and turn to find arguments to label your idol as United legend, but that fact remains that he is a 'United legend' and left us once we made him and now when things get tough. He loves Sir Alex more than United, and that is why he came back, just saying.

Of course he is

Signed at 18, developed into a Balon D’or winning attacker in a season when he won a League/UCL double and broke goal scoring records.

He’s got legendary status at this club no question about it.

He doesn't represent what the club stand for, he's all about himself and united players aren't known for that, Giggs, Scholes, Neville, Rio, Ole put the club first, even Rooney despite threatening to leave twice stayed giving the club his best years.
Ronaldo only play for one team team Ronaldo.

Arguably one of our best ever players (for two or three seasons) but I honestly wouldn't class him as a legend.

For me, a legend has to be more than a fantastic player on the pitch. Longevity, commitment, attitude, club appearances, to name but a few are just as important.

When Ronaldo retires he will undoubtedly go down as a Real Madrid legend who also played for 'insert clubs'
Manchester United will get a mention but the main focus will be on his time at Madrid.

If we are being honest he has never treated the club well.
He claimed he was a slave when United refused to bend over for Madrid. He used the club time and time again to get a better deal. Both while he was at Madrid and then Juventus.
He even used the threat of signing for City to get a better payday from us.

Ronaldo is a United legend without a shadow of a doubt. But no one is bigger than the club, not even Sir Matt or Fergie.

We should try to convince him to stay (despite his age he still has plenty to offer) and I think he'll stay, but if he wants to leave let him go. There is absolutely no point in having players who don't want to be at the club regardless of legendary status.

You're implying that he's a bigger legend than Cantona. Is he feck.

I didn’t. That’s either poor reading comprehension or you just trampolining to random conclusions.

What I said was pretty straightforward.

He is not. He leaved when he was at his peak and now leaves when we are rebuilding. He just cares for himself anyway.

Depends on what your own individual definition of a legend is. He is by no means up there with the true royalty of Manchester United. A tier below perhaps, but if you aren't in the very top tier, can you be classed as a legend?

A person who hails from the Iberian Peninsula wants to play for the biggest team in Madrid, shock horror

Are Schmeichel, Andy Cole and Denis Law legends, then?

If he does feck off rather than help out then it does kinda tarnish his status a little in my eyes.

As an outsider I'd still class him as a Man United legend but if he goes, he's not "statue outside the ground" worthy.
