That's schoolboy stuff from Uthappa. Single handedly lost them the game. Should have bowled rajpoot for the 16th and narine with the 19th. I know pollard was in but they also needed 63 from 5 and even a 20 run over could have been salvaged later by Narine

Manrekar while creaming his pants over the MI win got carried away a little and said Pollard didn't have the brains to bat at 3.
Wasn't the right thing to say on air.

They can insinuate racism but it definitely didn't seem the case while watching it live.
Just a typical Manjrekar brain fart.
 
I'd say Pollard doesn't have the brains or the ability to bat anywhere never mind 3. All he said iirc was that Pollard a final 6/7 overs player which I thought was quite generous.
 
As usual KP and Manjrekar making a needless comment on air and doing it without thinking.
 
He's absolute right about Pollard tbf. One the most overrated cricketers to play the game right now. Can't bowl and bat.
 
I was watching and I'm not at all convinced Manjrekar said what Tino Best said he did.

The 'no brains' line is loaded with negative racial stereotypes, and I can see why Pollard's upset about it, but that was inferred by Best rather than said by Manjrekar.

At any rate what Manjrekar should have said is 'Pollard is shit and shouldn't be batting anywhere' so all in all I think he was quite kind to him.
 
The whole brainless thing is dumb and poor commentary anyway. At least say poor decision making/situational judgement.
 
When I look at Pollard, I look at him as more a six-seven-overs-left-in-the-innings batsman. Whether he will be able to bat at No 3 and whether he has the versatility to pick up the singles if the boundaries are not coming, does he have the range as a batsman? I don’t think so. My view is, maybe six or seven overs left in the innings is the perfect time for Pollard to come in.

Unless you've misheaed 'range' as 'brains' I can't see how Best has interpreted what was said how he did.
 
It's not racist but it's really stupid from Manjrekar. Pollard is shit but that doesn't mean calling him brainless is warranted. I would even understand it if someone like Sunil Gavaskar called him that but this is a guy who was booed off the pitch once for his batting.

He did say brainless. I am pretty sure I heard him say it. Plus he compared pollard being asked to play up the order as similar to Dhoni being asked to play up the order. That right there is a crime in itself and Dhoni should sue his shit right there

Yeah this is what I remember as well. It was after Pietersen brought up him playing further up the order.
 
Pollard is an absolute liability but will be glad if this escalates and ends up in Manjrekar getting fired, one of many stealing a living at BCCI.

Saw this live and thought Manjerekar said the right thing. He's a commentator and isn't that his job?

We often criticize the BCCI for gagging commentators but I see nothing wrong in what he said. This was in response to a question as well.

I find Manjerekar one of the more straightforward Indian commentators on air and find it refreshing to hear him.

AB has to be the best run scorer ever, he just scores from anything and all around the wicket. Absolutely devastating.
