India's tour of England

This is the sort of pitch thats going to kill Test Cricket in this country.

Strange pitch but we've done well regardless. Very surprised we went with 6 batsmen and the one to miss out was Rohit Sharma.

I would open with Gambhir ahead of Vijay
He's done pretty well I think, despite it being a slow innings on a slow track. Disappointed with Kohli and Pujara. They need to do better.

It was a very good innings. There was a massive collapse on the card when Kohli and Pujara went out within 2-3 overs, but he helped India get through that.

Good knock by Dhoni as well.

If Dhoni makes X runs in England/Australia/NZ/SA, team needs 10X runs to get a draw.

What's wrong with the pitch? Did we bring one from india and replace the actual one overnight? It's so weird for an English pitch.

Probably this...
Dobell I think, recently wrote an article on Cricinfo about high chances of pitches being batting friendly because many grounds in England are in debt and they want matches to last 5 days.

As someone who's often had a go at similar subcontinent pitches, I am positively ashamed of this one. It's the single worst pitch I've ever seen produced in England. And I don't see how England in their current incarnation can beat India on an Indian pitch. Just a totally bizarre surface and quite frankly, the people who produced this should get the fecking sack.

Does this pitch deteriorate like our Indian pitches that by the 5th day there would be massive turn? England don't even have a good spinner in their ranks now,so this pitch defies logic.. Our weakest link is playing swing,Anderson would have run through our line up if they offered a nice swinging pitch.. Good for us i suppose..

Well looking at the pitch, our own selection of Binny is baffling, given that Ashwin himself is more than competent a batsman himself.

There hasn't been a draw at Trent Bridge for 12 years. I guess it was overdue.

It might deteriorate a little bit, but really not a lot in all probability. For anyone who saw either of the 5th say pitches in the Sri Lanka series it'll be similar to those but moreso, at least thats the likeliest probability

Anderson is bit of a gobshite.

I haven't seen much of the match till now, just caught 5-6 overs yesterday. There is absolutely nothing in the pitch! No way it looks like a England pitch. Murali Vijay making century itself is proof enough that pitch is a batting pitch. The sad part is, statistically it will be put on same levels to the ones made by better batsmen in more challenging conditions in years gone by.
Cricket is becoming such a dull game to watch with pitches everywhere slowly converging to one same type.

Wow.

Also, I think this happened when we went to South Africa last as well, where I couldn't believe it was a South African pitch.

Sort yourself out, cricket.

Yes. Sure our young players played well and all but those South African test pitches were as good as batting pitches. If not for the best bowler in the world, it would have ended in draw. Instead of making batsmen develop skills to handle different type of pitches, boards are trying to make same pitches everywhere so that matches last 5 days.

Idiots on Talkshite were saying this morning that this was going to be a draw, how you can say that after 1 day of a 5 day Test Match god only knows. I can see these last 2 putting on 50, just to piss us off though.

When Cook comes in and hits a daddy hundred, we'll see about that draw. Oh wait...:nervous:

Cook has had a good test so far, but I'm worried that 'his' waves of inspiration came just after breaks.

New drainage systems are too effective, coupled with the fact that a 5 day test is ideal for the money men.

FFS this match is slipping away from us with every run! 4 wickets for 40 runs, massive boost and we've undone all the good work by being unable to remove the last man!

The 11th man syndrome AGAIN. I'm done. I'm a Germany Cricket team fan now, they must have one somewhere.

If India reach 500 which is unlikely, I believe they will win this test match.

I've been out of touch from Test Cricket, that I don't even know 3-4 players from either team. Gotta do my research.

OK,so not the greatest of surnames to have..

I'll ask a mate and tell you what it means.

Not really. It's just a crazy dead pitch and the bowlers are unsurprisingly absolutely shattered, and the spinners keep getting tonked. What else should they be doing here?
