2 tests and 3 ODIs.

I think it'll end 1-1, with us winning at Mohali and Australia squaring it in Bangalore. I was thinking Australia might win it 1-0 but they have a problem with their bowling. Poor spinners and their seamers present a problem. Bollinger would've just landed in India after playing T20 in the Champions League, Johnson seems to have regressed in the past 12-16 months and Hilfenhaus is pretty ordinary for an Australian quick.

Would've backed them if they had Siddle, but he's still not fit enough to play test cricket.

The first test starts on Friday..

I think India will win this 1-0 as they have home advantage, but I haven't seen/followed an Indian test match in a long time so I'm probably wrong. Sehwag vs. Mitchell Johnson will be a good battle, Johnson will look to bounce him and Sehwag will look to hit him back to Australia.

The Hilf is a bit like Antonio Valencia, so predictable what he's going to do (outswinger, outswinger, outswinger and then the inswinger/ball doesn't swing) but he's very effective at it. I'll be interested in seeing how Hauritz goes, is Steve Smith in the Aussie squad?

Australia will probably focus their bowling attack on using short balls against the Indian Batsmen.

Er, no way. Indians are bad at playing the short ball, but none of them are in the test team except Raina.

And a short ball's a rubbish weapon on Indian pitches, anyway.

Yea, he is. Got carted around in the warm-up match.. as was Hauritz.

We might win a test match as our bowling looks decent for a change, A fit Zaheer Khan really changes our whole bowling line up. Key man is Sehwag for the series, also I think this is the series where Raina shows his talent to the whole world.

However considering how my prediction for the Pakistan-England series(predicted Pakistan to win :( ), I'm not predicting too much this time.

Zaheer's not 100%, though. I have a good feeling about Ishant this series, I don't know why.

And yes, 100% with you on the Raina thing. If this series tells us nothing else, it will at least make or break Raina's credentials to some extent. Fingers crossed.

Yeah Zaheer was rusty in the Champions League(You must be delighted with the outcome of that :D) but hopefully now that he has got his match fitness, he'll be back at his best. Really Really hope that Ishant sort himself out for this series, seriously with the talent that he has got, he is a potential world class bowler in our hands. Sreesanth is again talented, but is too inconsistent for my liking, however when he is at his best, he is a genuine wicket taker.

Raina looked good on that Lankan Pitches, let's hope he can do well on these pitches.

I hope we don't play Mishra, he is never been that impressive apart from his debut series and also no Ojha who is primarily a ODI Bowler. I would rather play three seamer(Zaheer, Ishant and Sreesanth) and Harbhajan and give Sehwag and Raina 10 overs to bowl each to compensate for the second spinner.

Very happy with the result, yes.. shame they're breaking the team up for the next season.

And as for Mishra.. I don't remember which one his debut series was.. was it the last one against the Aussies? He was very impressive in that, but hasn't found his niche after that. He seems to run out of ideas while bowling. He's got all the variations, but he just doesn't seem to use them effective.

I can't stand Ojha. I think he's just a decent ODI bowler. I hope Harbhajan's fit. As shit as he has been recently, he's our best bowler against the Aussies.

Ishant Sharma you fecking idiot, bowling 4 no balls in an over, got Ponting out but he overstepped.

Fuming today, we should've got three wickets, instead we're stuck with only one.

Ishant Sharma has not progressed at all, do you remember his debut series against Australia? He looked like he was going to be the future of Indian fast bowling, only 19, and bowled with pace and bounce.

But since then, he hasn't pushed on, still the same bowler, does not have a clue about changing his approach to suit different tracks etc etc.

He has been unlucky today though...

No he hasn't been unlucky mate, he has been plain stupid. I mean, bowling 5 noballs in a over is amazingly amateurish , I'm maybe harsh on him but this guy had the world at his feet when he debuted against Australia, but looks like he has thrown it away. Seriously, Fuming after the way we've handed australia the initiative today, Ponting and Watson were both out until our stupidity cost us.

Clarke out
174-3

Our Bowling has been good today, just a shame we haven't taken many chances.

Zaheer has been incredible today, we've got the aussies on the backfoot now, let's hope we take some initiative tommorow although we've an habit of letting tail enders make some easy runs, let's hope we can get some quick wickets in the first session.

Special Mention to Ojha who I thought showed very good consistency in his line and length and also to our awful awful catching. Aussies could've been 6 or 7 down and really Watson should've been sent back to pavilion, let's hope our fielding is better tommorow. Dhoni uncharacteristically having a pretty awful day behind the wickets didn't helped matters either.

Does anyone else here dislike Watson's batting? He's effective, but ugly player to watch..

Yeah, can't quite put my finger on it because usually he's very free scoring, he's just so mechanical.

Draw or Aussie win. Aussies have been very boring. Took them 400 balls to get from 200 to 300..

I figured I'd get a bit of sleep at 418 for 8... :\

Well Sehwag's put a little bit of life into a game that the Aussies were uncharacteristically dragging on. Its either an Aussie win or draw from here though. Can't see the Indians winning.

People said the same in that match at Kolkatta.

A decade in australia and a home in Canberra means, after Bangladesh, my allegiances most definitely line up behind the aussie cricket team.

Though the two batting for India are hard to root against, one a perfect gentlemen, and another, well, almost the perfect batsmen.

cause he supports the aussies.

was confused because I knew he's from Bangladesh..

I think this could've been a good test match if the Aussies had batted a bit faster. We were pretty slow this morning, but having the night watchman in contributed to that.

Heading to a draw as it is, unless we get some quick runs over the next couple of sessions.

Oh okay. He has an Australian connection.

We will look to take up a nominal lead today so as to set the pace for tomorrow..

Yeah folks are from Bangladesh, I'd spent almost no time at all here, minus vacations, till last year, I'm planning to live here for a couple of years, before I head back again, when it's time to do the whole, have children, settle down bit.

India haven't been that slow, RR - 3.8, Australia simply let Ojha and Harbhajan dictate the pace of the match.

Also just noticed Dravid is ~2000 runs behind Tendulkar, I know they will retire around the same stage, so this is not about catching him. But for a man with a reputation of being defensively stoic, and not a lot of flair, 11000+ runs is a great great career.

Lacking the grace of Tendulkar, I always identified more with Dravid, someone who worked very hard everyday to maximize his talents.

I find Dravid every bit as graceful as anyone else. Perfect technique. Not as much flair as Sachin, though. I've thought Dravid should be spoken right near Sachin as an all-time great. Technically, there's no reason why he shouldn't be. If not for ODIs, I think more people would speak of him in the same line as Sachin.

For the past few days I've had this huge mystifying urge to go watch one of these matches and sing 'Mitchell, my belle' to Mitchell Johnson.

I think it's probably hit that cricket loving part of my brain, which has been shrinking ever so rapidly over the years, that I'll probably never watch Dravid and Sachin facing the Aussies in India again. I think I'll try and go for the Bangalore test.

Didn't look out to me. Thought it bounced.

Big turn-around. Aussies rather lucky with the injury to Laxman and the Dhoni dismissal.

Thought Dhoni would get the benefit of the doubt. Would be interesting to see how the rest of the test pans out; hopefully Australia will come out assertively and make it an interesting two days.

Looking like a draw, in spite of this aggressive start. They'll get a lead of around 300. I don't think they'll declare with that because of Sehwag..

Katich was very lucky with that lbw non-decision though.

Yea, that decision was just outright bad.

Switched off, went out and came back.. 3 wickets, from Ishant.. wow.
