India v Australia 2013

We will see a Tendulkar special today.

I'm interested to hear how Pattinson got 3 wickets straight bowled whilst going for over 4 an over.

Was at the match. Sachin. Pretty awesome. Especially the way he started.

Planning to go again tomorrow, at least for the first session. The tickets are super cheap.

Nope. Not even comparable. Daily tickets for test matches are as low as 50 rupees. For 125 rupees you can sit at one of the bowling ends. The same end is priced at 2500 for limited overs matches. IPL matches are priced at 500 more than Indian limited overs matches for most stands.

The reason you see empty stands is that a lot of tickets are given off as passes and a lot of them don't turn up. I know peo

I know people who were in the queue for five hours and went away without tickets, but I was at the match and the ground was 30% empty. Demand is very high, queues start as early as 5 in the morning but the whole ticket process is terribly managed.

I'm on the way right now. In the train. I am extremely late but have some friends waiting in the queue..

This is a good battle between two teams in transition (read mediocre). Lucky for us that Pattinson can only bowl in short bursts. He has looked the most dangerous Aussie bowler.

We need at least a 30-40 run first innings lead. The pitch is not going to be fun to bat in the second innings.

Superb counter attack by Dhoni. Excellent century by Kohli. Glad to see him back in runs.

India have been superb during their innings despite the fact Sehwag, and Ashwin got out in freak circumstances.

To think some idiots were wanting Dhoni out of the team.

This is incredible.

Scored runs, and shielded Kumar.

A lot of credit must also go to Kumar. Unlike Bhajji he has batted with responsibility.

Superb day of cricket...Dhoni was absolutely astounding.

Must say I'm a bit surprised at the lack of quality in this Aussie side. None of the famed killer instinct on show.

Envious of zing, what a great day he must be having.

Dhoni wow!

To think some idiots were wanting Dhoni out of the team.

No one's questioned his home performance. His record away from the sub-continent is what people have issues with and it's still an issue.

But no doubt, tremendous innings.

He was very, very good to watch live.

BTW, I don't really enjoy Dhoni's batting.

I enjoy watching technically correct players. It is the majestic drives, flicks, etc that make the price of admission worth it for me. The crowd goes nuts when he bats and the way he simply scored those shots is pretty incredible, but it doesn't make me happy in the way a cover drive does.

I've seen a lot of innings that I have enjoyed more personally.

Tbf some of the shots he hit on the second new ball were technically very good.

Also there is some sort of agenda over Harbhajan from the commentators. Was quite surprising to see commentators criticising Dhoni over his use of Bhajji's bowling. He was awful, Dhoni had no choice.

To think some idiots were wanting Dhoni out of the team.

His batting and keeping were never in doubt. Only the captaincy.

Only the English and one wannbe English (with extremely poor diction) have questioned it previously.

In the domestic circuit he his reputed as an all rounder.

I have to admit i was amongst the ones who wanted him out. In my defence though, he did have quite a long run of some really poor performances.
He had changed his batting style some what. Had become very defensive. Seems to be back to his attacking best for the last few months or so. Its really good to see him back in form.

The no DRS things has really fecked us up in this test match. Clarke should've been given out twice in two overs now.

Thats 6 down now and the danger man Clarke is gone. Not looking good for Australia. Hopefully we can wrap it up today with 24 overs still to go.

Complete and utter garbage. Honestly if I was the touring captain and I rocked up to that strip on the first day and watched an offie take 7 wickets and spinners take 10 over all in just over a day, I'd pack up and go home and tell them to go and get fecked.

Granted hardly any of our flat track bullies that have grown up on the back stool clubbing just short of a length true deliveries can play spin. But that is complete and utter rubbish.

'Stick it up your arse India you wankers' kind of thing.

Oh and Nathan Lyon you're a good bloke and clearly a very very very unlucky cricketer and I feel sorry for you having to be put up as the spearhead Aussie spinner. It's an absolute shame that he is going to be scapegoated and dragged through the dirt. He's not complete shite but he's not top tier test standard, in fact he is very far from it and should have never been there in the first place. At least not in the vanguard expected to take wickets bowling invariable arcy loop offies. (I've met the bloke and he's a top top bloke, so I feel sorry for him.)

I know - I read it back and as bitter as it sounds I don't really care all that much. It's a product of our intake and blooding system. None of these batsman can play spin bar Clarke.

I've played on some absolute toilets playing grade here in Sydney and been KO'd plenty of times going forward on a good length. Sometimes being downright dangerous but you soldier on.

Being a batsman I have a personal gripe with pitches that don't offer at least SOMETHING to the batting team. As fair as it needs to be I don't want to see roads and 600 from each team, of course in the first inning but that pitch was downright ludicrous. My mate sent me a text on the first morning and said 'jesus christ have a go at the state of this pitch on the first morning..' I turned it on thinking oh yeah he's having a laugh and instantly let out 'That's ridiculous...'

Anyway - can't see this being much more than a whitewash considering the guaranteed banker is to prepare a raging bunsen burner dustbowl and playing 4 spinners. Which India would be stupid not to.

Well I'm not sure what your gripe is, with this pitch. The first two innings of the match saw the batsmen of both the innings score more than 860 runs, so your claim that it doesn't have anything for batters is absolutely wrong. Furthermore this is not a new occurrence, the likes of Matthew Hayden used to absolutely clobber Anil Kumble(who was sensational on these type of pitches) and Harbhajan Singh(when he wasn't shit) on the similar kind of pitches.

Even in this Australian innings, only the Clarke and Hughes dismissals could be called as freak and due to the pitch, the rest of them were pretty straightforward and were due to Aussies's inability to play spin.

Anyway Henriques looks good, so there's your positive from this match.

Fair play I'm just having a good old moan.

I played against Henriques a couple of times. Always thought he was garbage. Then again when I was a 15 yo I was clouting Dougy Bollinger in the Grantham High nets (not true he was rapid as feck to me as a 15yo and I was scared shitless).

Everyone I know now just moans about how shit Henriques is and shouldn't be there so i've developed an underdog love for him. Glad he's taking his chance with both hands.

Hopefully we get the wicket early tomorrow. I'm afraid if they get some sort of momentum, it could go till lunch, and a lead of around 100 or so. Still, we should be able to win this without problems.

There is absolutely no way we could defend any less than 200. That is highly unrealistic, would be a record 10th wicket partnership.

This always happens. You get plenty of pitches in Eng, SA, Aus and NZ which are very difficult bat on from day 1 due the extreme assistance they give to seam or pace bowlers. No body bats an eyelid when teams bundle out for low scores on such pitches with at times matches finishing within 3 days. But you get a turning pitch on subcontinent and people start crying.

Yeah, bit off. England showed that if you bring along a couple of good spinners the advantage to India is taken away, same pitch for both sides.
