India Tour of South Africa

If Elgar and Amla stay in until they need 150, South Africa are a decent chance of winning this as long as they get this done and dusted by the time the 2nd new ball is due.

Not a single ball has been threatening (dangerous). Still enough seam movement - India havent bowled well.

Just started watching today. Have they done something to the pitch to calm it down?

No India bowled rubbish in the 1st session, ball kicking again on a fuller length now and it's looking very difficult again.

Fancying South Africa to win this now. Another good partnership will see them home i reckon.

There have been unconfirmed reports of the groundsman burning a set of bails in the outfield as a sacrifice to appease the cricket gods and chase the demons out of the pitch

They get knocked a lot in the shorter formats but in tests South Africa have a real knack of facing down seemingly impossible final innings situations. Still time for it to go awry mind.

Amla out caught Pandya bowled Sharma. Fine effort by Amla whose 52 will probably contribute to a South African win.

On this type of pitch a collapse is never out of the picture. It's on the set batsmen to take the team through. Never easy for the new batter.

With Amla gone India has a chance now. Need to keep the score in check and get a couple more before the new ball is due. Then it's about making use of the new ball to trigger a collapse.

India still favorites, imo.

If they can get 5 wickets before the second new ball, they should easily be able to get the rest 5, considering SA are scoring very slowly

RSA four down requiring less than 97 to win. A close test is on its way.

India should fancy themselves now. QdK is woefully out of form. Nearly 100 runs on this pitch is a mountain. 2nd new ball due in 18 overs as well.

Philander out bowled - chopped on in fact off the bowling of Shami for 10. SA now 157/6 still needing 84.

I still believe had we won those mini battles in the first and second test we could have won the series. Some easy catch drops, some silly running by Pandya, our tail failing to add on in the first innings of second test, dropping Bhuvi for no good reason, letting De cock and Philander to score quick runs in the first innings of first test and not capitalising after SA were 12-3 in the first test. India must be disappointed with not winning this series.

Yup. Considering how much they were preparing for this and looking forward to this, the execution wasn't up to the mark.

Lack of match practice is one more reason. You never go to SA or ENG or AUS and not have any warm ups. Poor planning by BCCI

Some telling mistakes. But lets not forget that winning in South Africa is as hard as it gets. This will be a massive confidence boost for the team going into the tours of England ans Australia. The bowlers, in particular, have been brilliant. Kohli has shown that hes the best batsmen around.

Disappointing to have lost the series, but a huge test match win proves our worth as the number 1 test team.

I understand but this was a great chance to win and we screwed it. Surely this tour would not be an outright failure by any means but considering how we lost those mini-battles and made some silly selection, we have to blame ourselves.

I genuinely that sticking to the basics, especially in team selection, would have got us close to winning the series.

Our bowlers have been hugely impressive. Taking all 60 wickets in 3 away test matches is mighty impressive. Don't think this has been done often, if at all.

Stole the words out of my mouth.

I would like to hear @zing's take on the super dangerous pitch? Barely threatened to hurt anyone today. Ironic that the man who got hit yesterday is doing absolutely fine and barely taken a hit.

100% agree.
