India politics thread

Just came back from the polling booth, took a total of 10 mins to vote.

The fake news factory has really gone crazy with their fanfiction writing. First they got that Imam chap arrested and now this.
This site constantly peddles BJPs nonesense agenda. A website version of Sudhir Chaudhary if you will.

the only concern is that exit polls were taken at 5pm and there was heavy voting after that. but the voteshare in the polls was about 50% for aap and it will be tough for bjp to make up a 10+% margin even if later votes favour them.

That’s what. He knew about the election dates before they were announced, was aware of the shooter before the cops announced and now has confidently proclaimed 48 seats.
Maybe it's good for Delhi that their new CM is an actual prophet

Late surge in voting is actually spooky. Unless there's a genuine reason for it?

AAP was always going to win. Also stop with EVM conspiracy BS. BJP would not have lost states like MP, Rajasthan and performed poorly in some others in state elections if they could fix EVMs. I talked to several working class folks in Delhi over past 2 weeks and Kejriwal's freebies are a massive hit with them. Most of them by the way don't care zilch about CAA and are decidedly against the Shaheen Bagh protest but want AAP to continue because of the benefits that are helping with their daily or monthly expenses.

What new theory is this ? Its not like magically all the bjp voters coordinated amongst themselves that they'll sleep throughout the day and run for the polling booth moments before the deadline.

More or less the general percentage of voters voting for different parties would be quite similar regardless of the time of the day they vote. If anything the poor labour class who dont usually get leave would be the last ones to enter the polling booth and from what i've seen most of them would be voting for aap.

Development, the AAP's main poll plank, topped the list of issues for 37 per cent of the respondents followed by price rise (17 per cent) and unemployment (14 per cent).

The issues that the BJP sought to raise didn't resonate much with the Delhi voters as the data showed only one per cent supporting the CAA and the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir's special status.

The BJP's national-security plank found favour with six per cent of the respondents.

it's one person (top row, 3rd from left) who's doing most of the talking and shouting and pointing and demanding answers.

You are conflating an issue being decisive being one for the polls with approval for the same. Overwhelming majority in Delhi favoured the Kashmir decision and as per opinion polls most seem to be in favor of CAA as well. Both the issues are not relevant for state elections though and electorate seems smart enough to not mix national issues with state ones.

imagine your ideology is the ruling ideology and the popular ideology, you are close to the PM, and crying this much about losing one state which anyway agrees with you

Son Locks Up Father At Home To Prevent Him From Voting For BJP During Delhi Elections

In Delhi’s Munirka area, a man locked up his father in the house to prevent him from going to the polling booth and voting for BJP.

The man in his 20s, locked up his father in a room while the polling was on on February 8, to prevent him from casting his vote. He was certain that his father would vote for BJP.

He said he was inspired from his friend who lives in Delhi’s Palam area, who pulled off the same stunt with his parents.

They masturbated at us: Delhi's Gargi College students say group of men broke in, groped and harassed girls

A large group of men barged into the Gargi College during a college event. Students at the girls' college were groped, molested and harassed by the group of drunken men who were outsiders.

Students of Delhi's Gargi College have alleged that a large group of "drunken men" barged into their college premises on February 6 during a college festival and molested and harassed the women students.

The students have said that the men, who were outsiders, broke into the college and groped the students, locked them in washrooms and misbehaved with them.

The incident took place during the 3-day college festival 'Reverie'. The students have alleged that the outsiders who barged into the college were participating in a pro-CAA rally nearby when they entered the college and harassed the students.

In a social media post that has now gone viral, the students of Gargi College have said, "There were drunk, middle-aged men harassing us, molesting us and masturbating at us... I was groped thrice by a group of men inside that crowd and when I screamed they laughed...".

Speaking to IndiaToday.in, a Gargi College student said on condition of anonymity, "The men came in trucks and entered the campus around 4:30 pm during the fest. They continued to harass the girls for several hours and the ordeal continued till around 9 pm."

In another social media post it has been said, "Girls were groped, locked in washrooms, stalked to the nearby Green Park metro, cat-called, eve-teased and misbehaved with during the festival."
