India politics thread

I'm referring to Modi's beard which has been the subject of a lot of discussions on our media channels in the past year.

Apparently, Pakistan is scared to Modi's beard, if that makes any sense

Ah, I was thinking about the top of his head. The beard is impressive.

Wonder what they make of the recent "standoff " involving China

Enough whatsapp forwards on how India came out on top and China was shown their place. They believe India didn't lose a single inch but showed China that we are not a country to be messed up with. In the same messages you will also have how Nehru and Congress gave away a million sq miles of area to China and how good we have it with the BJP in power.

What are there views on "anti-national" congress merging the kingdom of sikkim as a state in the the union of India in 1975 ?

Under nehru, India fought and lost that territory. Under modi, India looked the other way when china occupied our territory and then lied to its citizens that no incursions happened. I want to see treason trials held in India some time in the future where all these liars are tried and convicted and hanged in the lawns of India Gate on live tv.

'Denied Hospital Bed, Was Not Given Food, Water': BJP MLA Struggles To Get Treatment For Wife In UP
"If an MLA's wife cannot be given proper care, what will the common man do?," said BJP MLA Ram Gopal Pappu Lodhi

A two-minute video of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA expressing disappointment over the lack of medical infrastructure and apathetic attitude of the hospital management in Uttar Pradesh has been doing the rounds on social media. BJP MLA from Jasrana in Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh, Ramgopal Pappu Lodhi, shared his ordeal and said that he was not able to arrange a hospital bed for his wife Sandhya Lohi who tested positive for coronavirus.

His wife was denied a bed at one of the hospitals in Agra, reported Scroll. The city, like other parts of the state, has been reeling under a shortage of hospital beds, reported India Today.

"Whatever they happened with us, I pray to God that this does not happen to anyone else. If an MLA's wife cannot be given proper care, what will the common man do?," said the MLA.

Despite Highest Number of Daily Cases, India Does Not Label Itself in Community Transmission Category

WHO report says India is yet to label itself in the category of community transmission (CT), opting instead for the lower, less serious classification called ‘cluster of cases’.

Countries such as the United States, Brazil, United Kingdom, France have labelled themselves as being in ‘community transmission’.

India, since the beginning of the pandemic, has never marked itself as being in community transmission.

Facts don't matter to these people. Every pro-Congress stuff is considered propoganda by them. They have been radicalised completely.

My Uncle (Dad's brother) said yesterday that 25 years later people will look back and say how lucky we were to have Modi as a Prime Minister. In the middle of the worst crisis in the nation since the partition, in which our government is the worst performing government in the world when it comes to handling Covid he actually really feels lucky to have Modi as a PM (put in the fact that we have had two deaths in our home from Covid in April). And this is not isolated, a lot of people are in an alternate reality where they believe no one else could have done any better.

Every time I come to this thread I wonder how those of you who are in India aren't losing your shit completely over what's going on in India. Modi is still by far the favourite to win the 2024 elections and if he does I have no doubt our days as a democracy will swiftly come to an end even if we continue living in denial about it.

How does the Indian govermment work in terms of the different languages within India? Is there 1 language spoken in meetings etc?

We have more than 20 official languages. The languages spoken at Govt level are 3: English, Hindi and One/ Two regional language native to the place of the Govt

People don't realise it but the reputation of us Hindus and Hinduism as a whole is slowly being degraded and dragged through the mud under the guise of upliftment.

Cant see the tweet. What is it about? Proud Hindu supporting Israel?

Tweet from israeli pm with flags of all countries supporting them. No Indian flag.
Reply from a bhakt: "no mention of us, but we love you anyway". any crumb from a white man's table and they'll jump for it.

Bhakts don't care a s**t about Hindus or Hinduism. All they care about is a perceived superiority in their heads and a perceived threat from other religions to it's existence

Delhi Police as bad as UP police.

The Indian Express had first reported on Friday that the Delhi police have registered FIRs against the people who had pasted the posters across the city. The posters read: “Modi ji hamare bachon ki vaccine videsh kyon bhej diya (Why did you send our children’s vaccines abroad?)”.

So far, at least 25 people have been arrested by Delhi Police regarding the matter. Most of those arrested are daily wage workers or rickshaw drivers. Police had earlier said that they were probing the role of Kalyanpuri AAP councillor Dhirendra Kumar in commissioning these posters.

‘I drink cow urine every day. That is why I do not have coronavirus right now’: BJP MP Pragya Thakur

Pragya Singh Thakur, the BJP MP from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, has said that drinking cow urine protects from lung infection and can also be beneficial against coronavirus. A video of Thakur speaking to a gathering has been widely circulated on social media. The MP was not wearing a mask during her address.

“If we drink the urine of Indian cows, it reduces infection in our lungs,” Thakur said. “I drink it every day. That is why I do not have coronavirus right now.”

Thakur’s statement comes at a time when the Indian Medical Association has clearly specified that there is no scientific evidence to prove that cow dung or urine helps with the treatment or prevention of Covid-19.

“There is no concrete scientific evidence that cow dung or urine work to boost immunity against COVID-19, it is based entirely on belief,” Dr JA Jayalal, national president at the Indian Medical Association, was quoted as saying by The Wire.

BJP MP Pragya Thakur Airlifted to Mumbai for Treatment After Complains of 'Breathing Problems'
BJP Bhopal MP Pragya Singh Thakur was on Saturday airlifted to Mumbai for treatment after she complained of breathing problems, NDTV reported.
Her office informed that she has been admitted to the city’s Kokilaben Hospital. This is the second time in less than a month that Thakur has been admitted to a hospital for treatment. On February 19, two months after her discharge in December, Thakur had been re-admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after she complained of chest congestion and a slight breathing issue.

She had been kept in a private ward and AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria had supervised her case, reports had said. In December last year, Thakur was admitted to the AIIMS after she complained of Covid induced symptoms. Incidentally, her hearing for the 2008 Malegaon blast case, where she is an accused, was scheduled the next day (December 19) in the special National Investigation Agency court.

During her February admission, doctors reportedly said that she complained of slight breathing issue, pain in her chest and high blood pressure as well. But she was not found to be exhibiting any symptoms of Covid-19.

The 50-year-old MP reportedly has multiple co-morbidities. “She has asthma, hypertension, diabetes and several other underlying conditions," a doctor from the team monitoring her health at AIIMS had told IANS on the condition of anonymity.

I was reading the Israeli tweets in Cartman's voice in my head. Hilarious.

Even our stupid government has had the better sense to distance ourselves from Israeli actions.
The bhakts were shocked to see the Indian govt response. They thought that the govt will jump in and ask to kill all Muslims.

Here is the whole problem with our part of the world. Why should an MLA be treated any differently to the common man? He shouldn't, but that's how it goes. I don't know what it's like in India but in Pakistan, the model of governance is basically colonialism by brown faces. The elites look down on the rest of the population as shit on their shoe.

I don't think it's a problem peculiar to our part of the world , whether we like it or not people in power or people with money and influence do tend have better access to resources unfortunately.

Not as blatantly as our part of the world though. In India, an influential man can come with a bunch of policemen and physically throw you out of the hospital bed and make the bed available for that person or his family. If you resist, they can make you and your family disappear with no consequences.

Brazenness is something which might be unique to Indian Subcontinent I can agree on that .

When it eventually happens, are we gonna call it the Indian Spring?
