Iker Muniain

He'd be surplus to requirements, especially when we're in need of midfielder or two. Martinez would be a much more logical buy, as would M'Vila or Strootman.

Martin Ferguson watching the game today.

Speculation on wheter it's Muniain or Herrera

Martin Ferguson watching the game today.

Have you seen him or is that just the report that he's there? I've heard that he was at Dortmund-Bayern and PSV-Ajax, so take it with a pinch of salt.

Well Ander is at least playing according to the site. Also Bilbao have 2 young fullbacks, could be one of them

Seen him. They cut to him on Sky a second ago.

Used to think Jeremy Clarkson had the best job in the world, but now realised it is M. Ferguson as he seems to be permanently based abroad watching players and best bit is....it's all expense paid!!

Well that's because he's a scout. That's what he's supposed to do.

Ander has a higher performance rating than Busquets and Xavi today, so we're clearly signing him. 7.6 when your team is 5-1 down? Whats he doing, juggling the ball past everyone?

Who are the fullbacks? Autenekxe (was never gonna spell it right!) and who's the other one?

Would love to see Ander Herrera or Muniain here, although the latter one would probably have something to do with Nani departing.

Don't think we can read too much into it tbh, unless it was Sir Alex there.

Martin Ferguson probably scouts a set of players every weekend.

Given the Nani situation and Fergie's love of wingers it wouldn't be surprising if we were watching him.

I can see us using Muniain as a wide striker in a 433, with Nani, Persie and Muniain in the front 3. Both Nani and Muniain can play wide and still come inside enough to provide goals and assists at the rate of a striker, like Sanchez or Pedro of Barca.

Wouldnt discount it being Susaeta under the microscope. I personally wouldnt want him but I think hes the kind of winger Sir Alex would like. Fairly hard working including without the ball making a couple of tackles. Can pass people through, can cross and has pretty good movement to get into shooting positions himself. A good all rounder he is but not the kind of talent to replace Nani if thats the case.

Then again we did go for expensive highly coveted youngsters in the summer and I suppose its possible Martin was there to talk to Bilbao about Muniain and he didnt have to be playing. But I dont know, normally a scout watches a player...

Llorente has said he is leaving at the end of his contract. Muniain to follow him out?

Why? Llorente hasnt even been playing in the team, just 1 start after he said he wanted to leave. Aduriz came into the team for them and has been scoring goals

Naive comment as i haven't watched Bilbao this season. But Llorente was one of their best last year and if they lose their best players, Muniain will leave sooner or later surely.

AS claim Bilbao think we want Muniain and that is why he didn't play the other night as they knew our scout was there.

What kind of season has this guy had?

Still think he'd be an excellent addition for us. Especially if Nani goes and Valencia continues to mess about.

One of the newbies was saying Carlos Vela has been more impressive than him which says a lot.

Haven't been watching the Spanish games much this season but I know in terms of end product, it hasn't been a great season for him. Still a very talented youngster though and would definately be a great buy for the future.

He has played 36 games this season (all comps including internationals) with a return of 3 goals and 6 assists.

In the La Liga he has played 23 games, 1 goal and 1 assist.

Very poor that really, then again, Bilbao have struggled I think with Martinez leaving and Llorente being omitted from the team due to his upcoming move to Juve.
