If De Gea wants to go, Which Real player would you want as part of the deal?

Which Real player would you want as part of the deal?

Varane is the most obvious one given his position, but I think Bale would be absolutely amazing for us.

Obviously want to keep De Gea above all, but of the options in the poll:

1. Varane
2. Isco
3. Modric
4. Bale

Varane is what we need; Isco is a muppet signing; Modric is class but I'd have concerns about his attitude if he were to join us from Madrid, and then Bale is Bale.

Don't think I've ever read the words "I'd have concerns about his attitude" in regards to Modric. Good reason why not; him being almost totally lacking in ego, one of the hardest working players in world football and utterly happy to sacrifice himself for what the team requires. Great player.

I choose Isco as i believe he is the most talented out of the bunch and yet he would also be the most possible option they would allow being part of a deal.

At the time he moved from you there was a fair bit of talk about him not rating us as a sufficiently big move from Spurs compared to Real (fair enough) and Chelsea (feck off). From that it makes me wonder if he would give to us the dedication that he gives Real, and certainly couldn't rule-out him sulking being disgarded for another player by Real where he clearly loves being (and rightly so) and taking a step down to us. As I say, it would just be a concern - not saying he definitely wouldn't have the right attitude here, but I'd be concerned if we were getting a fully committed Modric. If so, then I'd certainly move him up to second on my list; arguably top.

Haven't seen enough of Varane to know if he's nailed on to be a top defender. Trying to have a reasonable debate in my mind between Bale and Modric, but all I can think about is how great it would be to have genuine pace and strength on the wing again.

Varane is probably the closest to a sure thing that I've ever seen in that sense.

Didn't mean to jump on you there mate. Feel about Modric how United fans do about Scholes, Van Der Sar or Solskjaer.

Rio Ferdinand with even more pace basically. Tall, calm and wins the ball without over-committing himself. Would agree with Bale over Modric, but only because of your squad needs.

Don't worry, you didn't. It's a fair question and I may be reading too much into rumours from the time he was leaving Spurs, but I'd want to be sure that any incoming player wanted to play for us, otherwise that would be reflected in his performances. The step down from current Real is a big one afterall.

I don't blame you having fond regards towards Modric - he's a proper class player and would be an asset to most teams right now. I probably should've had him above Isco regardless of any fears I'd have about his commitment at this stage.

We won't be getting any player in a swap deal. Newspapers have a hard on for swap deals, but they virtually never happen.

Seriously, every day the papers are full potential swap deals, but outside of Italy (with all their complicated co-ownerships and book balancing) the only swap deals I can think of is Gallas and Cole, and that was 10 years ago, and Eto'o and Ibrahimovic.

1. ronaldo = sentimental value of course but play him as our CF and he could still end up with 40-50 goals a season at least for the next few years.

2. bale= would be perfect if we are going 4-3-3. even 4-4-2, any formation that have wingers that is.

3. varane = one of the best young defenders around.

If United value de Gea at around 50 mio pounds, then we should ask for Varane and Modric in return. That should be around the same then. Good deal for all parties.

Ffs, we aren't feckin Tesco! This business relationship we have only works one way. Di Maria was an anomaly.

That said though, you can have Khedira if you add Januzaj too. Deal?

Order now, and as a token of goodwill, we'll throw in an extra Madrid kit signed by Nicolas Cage!!! Free of charge!

Is this your way of saying you'll take De Gea and we'll get nothing but a pointless bag of cash stinking of Muppetino Perez aftershave?

We don't have a player like Isco at all IMO.
We need a CB (Varane) and a winger(Bale) far more imo.

Matic for David Luiz, but other than that your point is very correct.

Would love to know what Ronaldo could score back in the Premier League. Would guess in the 30s, rather than the 40s he's heading to in Spain.

For us to actually compete with Real/Bayern/Barca we actually need both a Varane and a Bale type player. (CB and RF/RW)
Modric is possibly the best CM in Europe today but I'd like to see Herrera get a long run in the CM spot...he could be great for us.

Strongly agree. Buying Modric a year after Herrera would be overkill really. Herrera just has to pull back ever so slightly within himself, without losing the free spirit thing. Impressed me so far.

Varane and Bale would get you very close to 2nd if not 1st on its own. Surely Van Gaal wouldn't keep 3 at the back with someone Varane's pace and class. Can't see Real being stupid enough to sell him though and if they did it would have to be getting up towards Di Maria, given his age.

Agree with that bit. Taking into account the strength of our team, relative to Madrid's & the fact that the English league is a little more competitive (not necessarily better in quality, but less skewed), 30's sounds about right.

He will have one year left on his contract in the summer.
Cant see Real paying more then 30 million for him. He is a great talent but United have to sell if he wants to go anyway.
Cant really see all those sums in the English press.

Ooooo the claws are coming out now.

We need someone who can take players on and craft chances in tight games as well IMO. Bale is a great counter attacking player but that is not our system under LvG.

I'm a huge fan of Varane but when it comes down to it, Bale is the best player out of the lot, so I'd pick him. I wouldn't pay them any extra money though because great goalkeepers are hard to come by.

LVG's reported preferred system was 4-3-3 which is Bale's fortay. I wouldn't by any means turn down Isco as he is a terrific player. However we have Di Maria, Mata and Januzaj that play in his position.

Voted Varane but could just as easily say Bale.

Varane because we need defenders that LVG feels comfortable playing in a back-4 and Varane ticks that box. Bale because signing him and shipping out RVP or Falcao would go a long way towards balancing our attack. We could put out a very strong 4-3-3 with Bale on the right, Mata/Rooney tucked in from the left and Di Maria playing that left-sided midfield role.

This sounds about right. We're not in a great negotiating position here. De Gea himself could do the decent thing and sign a new contract now, even if he plans to leave. It's not uncommon.

Think what Fergie would do and its obvious.

Were crying out for a world class, young centre back whose going to dominate for us for a very long time. It makes the most sense for the long term stability of the team.

Based on this we wouldn't sign anybody but Bale  because its all about the Manutd way of having the best attacking players possible.

De Gea.
(Has anyone else made that joke.)

Honestly, I'd want Varane plus money plus an apology.
