ICC World T20 2016

Fox Sports and channel 9 will show the tournament in Australia after all. Fox will show every game live, channel 9, in typical channel 9 fashion, will show Australia's games and the finals matches. A broadcast deal agreed better four days before the start then never.
Heh this used to be the case here in India as well, with the public broadcaster. Now things have changed

It'll never change with channel 9. Can understand the reasons they'll have for mainly showing Australia's games but non Aussies without Fox are short changed. Australia's warm up series vs South Africa didn't start well in Durban and they're staring at 6 straight twenty20 defeats if they lose in Johannesburg tonight.

Day 1: Hong Kong vs Zimbabwe | Afghanistan vs Scotland
30 mins until the off. How good are Hong Kong? Do they stand any sort of chance against Zimbabwe?

These are tough groups. Bangladesh have their work cut out. Netherlands are no pushovers in this format. Also Ireland are very good.

Zimbabwe are probably more consistent but the Afghan potential is immense. Afg just need one steady head who can anchor the innings. I'm taking a guess on Ireland and Afghanistan to quality.

 Masakadza. Test playing nations doing this deserve to have their whole match fee deducted.

How do professional cricketers forget to slide their fecking bat?

Well stone me, Hong Kong have taken two wickets. Fair fecks to them!

Well, that's an attackable score! Come on, Hong Kong!

Don't know whether to be happy that HK are competive or sad at how far Zim have fallen.

Both?

22 runs from the over needed to tie.

Man Sky's post match coverage of this is kinda racist.

What did they say?

Find it a bit strange they are 4 in the studio covering these minnow games. Other top series' Sky have covered recently haven't even had studio.

Just little snide comments here and there can't remember exact quotes, but they were surprised the Zimbabwe MOTM could speak English and had a snigger about that, said that you'd expect Zim to be good running between the wickets because they're athletic to sniggering about that, and then after the interview with the Afghani captains interview one of them said 'as he said, or at least I think he said HARHARHAR'.

Maybe racist isn't the right word, but it seemed a bit off to me.

 A recent British colony with English as an official language, being surprised that they can speak English is a bit over the top for sure.

Afghanistan must be the team with the highest percentage of runs in sixes. Fun to what when they're on song.

Damn Scotland are really going for it.

Yeah they're bottling it a bit... Makes for an interesting last few overs, though.

Where the feck are the LED stumps for this tournament? BCCI won't allow them because they aren't 100 % accurate?

We always always have Australia and Pakistan in our group. At least one of them in any major competition.

Kolkata: Dharamsala's loss may be Kolkata's gain as the marquee India-Pakistan encounter of the ICC T20 World Cup on March 19 is likely to be shifted to the iconic Eden Gardens here.

The official confirmation from the ICC is awaited but according to top a BCCI official, Kolkata has the "highest" chance compared to other prospective venues like Mohali and Bengaluru.

In a late night development, the Pakistan Cricket Board had put its team's departure to India on hold following security concerns for the marquee match originally scheduled to be played in Dharamsala.

"Logistically, and from security point of view, Kolkata is the ideal place for the match as they would not have to travel to Dharamshala... It's feasible from broadcasting point of view as they would not have to the cost for taking the expensive broadcasting kit to another venue," a BCCI official told PTI.

The West Bengal government led by Mamata Banerjee in the past too had shown keen interest to host BCCI's meeting with PCB after their proposed talk in Mumbai faced protest from Shiv Sena activists.

As per the ICC itinerary, Pakistani team is slated to camp in Kolkata where it will play two warm-up games (against Bengal, March 12 and Sri Lanka, March 14) and one in the main round against Group A qualifier March 16.

As per the schedule, Pakistan were to arrive late evening on Wednesday and fly out to Dharamsala on March 17 but if the match is shifted they will remain here till March 20 before heading to Mohali where they face New Zealand on March 22.

After a recce of Dharamsala, the PCB were reluctant to play there citing security concerns.

"The Himachal Pradesh chief minister has not committed full security for the match and the Indian government has also not come up with any assuring statement... Under the prevailing circumstances how can we allow our team to play there?" PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan said on Tuesday.

:nervous: From a 23k capacity crowd to 90k.

The indian goverment is a joke.

Absolutely correct for Pakistan not to play if there's no security guarantees. Poor form from India's government, this match has been scheduled for a long time so something adequate should've been in place long ago.

Eden Gardens would be a fantastic venue for a India-Pakistan game. 90,000 fans can see them crush us, before Shahid bhai reveals his joy at the good effort the boys put in.

Day 2: Bangladesh vs Netherlands | Ireland vs Oman
Netherlands put Bangladesh into bat.

Strong start from Netherlands. Kept it reasonably quiet over first three overs and now gotten a wicket.

So the reason ten Doeschate hasn't played international cricket for 5 years is because all players are required to play domestic cricket in Netherlands in order to be selected? Do they seriously believe that the quality of their domestic circuit is anywhere near the quality of cricket Tendo plays for Essex and in all kinds of T20 leagues across the world? Such waste of a top talent.

What exactly are the security concerns in Dharmashala? Because its closer to China/Tibet? That place is in the mountains. The Dalai Lama comes to watch cricket there. I would have thought its safer than most parts frankly

Really? That is an odd decision. I assumed it was that he'd declared for SA.

That's what Russell Arnold said on commentary at least.

I thought it had more to do with personal interests. He is already an established cricketer and has nothing to gain anymore from playing for an associate with little revenues. Besides maybe 1 % of the Netherlands know about cricket and it isn't even his country of birth.

That would be entirely understandable.

10 overs 83 runs needed for the Dutch. 8 wickets in hand. Not impossible.

As Pakistan know, the Dutch aren't strangers to pulling off an upset in World twnety20.

Don't fancy the Dutch, at all, here. Think they've been too careful in the early stages and a collapse trying to catch up is almost inevitable.

Hope I'm wrong. Would be good be good fun if they make it close.

EDIT - Three down, now. Getting harder.
