ICC World T20 2016

Not as long as this Noor Ali guy is there

As long as he sees of Tahir it doesn't really matter I don't think. They've got Nabi and Sami to come who are both good hitters. Just need to do what England did (and they tried damn hard not to) and thats not let Tahir win the game.

Afghanistan have been brilliant so far. Don't think they'll win but what an effort

Fecks sake.

If they'd built a slightly stronger base I'd have fancied this pair to win it. Think its just beyond them though.

Gotta love how gutsy these Afghan lads are. Some of the other teams could learn a thing or two from them

FFS all my hopes pinned on Nabi and he goes and plays an Eoin Morgan of a knock. Think thats game over now (if it wasn't already).

It was a pathetic display. Firstly the inability to read the pitch. Rob Key had a look at the pitch an hour before the toss and said that it is dry as hell and will turn square. Key has played a lot of cricket especially as captain so odds were he knew what he was talking about. So why couldn't Afridi or his management see it? Afridi has been playing cricket since the 80s. Reading pitches should come naturally to him.

Secondly why on earth go with FOUR seamers on a subcontinent pitch anyway? Was it grass on it? Was it going to swing and seam? Uneven bounce? No. There was nothing to suggest any of that.

Thirdly did they even watch Ind-NZ the other day? Spinners took all the first 9 wickets. Santner was MOTM. You've got your own version of Santner in Imad Wasim, who I believe is the better bowler of the two, so why leave him out of this game? It's the same ground where Imad took 4 wickets on Monday vs SL (good players of spin historically). Even if you didn't believe it will turn much, why leave out a spinner who is in good form and probably would have caused some havoc vs a team obviously struggling against left-arm spinners? Add to that Imad's T20I economy is marginally above 6 so it's not like he would have been smashed around the park either.

Going into a match with Afridi and Malik as the only spin options is criminal. Afridi was past his prime after WC 2011 and Malik is a part timer. Said when the squad was announced that they are lacking a specialist spinner. Why weren't guys like Asghar and Gohar considered? Even Babar would have been a handful. If there wasn't any good spinners available then fair enough but I can think of 5-6 guys not picked who would walk into most teams at this WT20.

Why did Amir only bowl 3 overs? 2 overs 1/3 and then he doesn't bowl again until the game is done and dusted? If you've put up a low target then the only way you are winning is if you take 10 wickets. You don't get 10 wickets by taking the game deep. You have to bowl out your best bowlers up front. Kohli in the shorter formats is an all time great. You let him settle you lose the game. The only way he could have been dismissed with yesterday's bowling lineup was if Amir bowled his 4 overs up front.

Afridi batting at 3 was a joke. The guy has no technique or ability to rotate the strike, how come he walking in at 3? At 3 you need an anchor. Hafeez scored 70* (49) on Monday and 64 (42) on Wednesday, both on the same venue. Why change something that is working? Why is the most in-form batsman walking in at 7 (!) to face the final over?!

The good thing is that Afridi is retiring on Friday. His bowling is way over the top, his batting is non-existent and his captaincy is shit. Can't recall I've ever witnessed a more braindead cricketer.

I'd add to that the field placements and tactical approach after India lost 2 wickets in their first over. Afridi spread the field with only 4 men in the circle and gave them easy singles. The RR was around 7 an over - if you give 6 easy singles in an over, then their going to easily cruise to the total and that's what happened. Ridiculous, amateur stuff.

He also seems to have fallen victim to his own hype - being a good captain doesn't mean trying to do everything yourself. It's his last tournament and he pushes himself up the order and keeps bringing himself into the attack whenever a wicket falls because he wants to "lead from the front,"

fecking cnut.

Honestly, if I was a PCB chairman and saw the shit Afridi pulled yesterday, i would have walked into the dressing room, stripped him off the captaincy and sent him home on the next flight.

Edit: I forgot to add that our best player of spin didn't even come in until the last few overs. Sarfaraz is such a good player of the sweep shot, you need to play that or use your feet well against this kind of spin.

Instead, our batsmen showed zero adaptability and sat in their creases saying "oi teri toh" after each ball. Idiots.

Knew I forgot something, the field placement was as bad as anything. Just look at the difference between the two captains. Dhoni was cutting down the angles and cramping the batsmen for room. For Ashwin and Jadeja he had a short fine leg who was unusually fine. He had a long leg and a deep mid wicket. The leg side was well covered and bowlers were bowling according it. If Afridi had Ashwin in the powerplay he would place his two boundary riders at long on and long off meaning no protection behind square. Afridi knows nothing at all about captaincy. No pressure applied at all.

NZ are clear favourites vs Pak, not because their team is that much better but simply because it's the worst captain in the WT20 vs what's proving out to be the best.

Badree and Benn bowled 8 overs, 3/25. Spinners doing the trick in the subcontinent, who would have thought?

Who needs Gayle?!

Great start from the Windies

The ball bounced in his gloves for fecks sake. THAT WAS OUT! Can these fecking useless 3rd umpires stop ruining the game?

Don't usually watch women's cricket, but some of the shots in the Aus vs NZ match have been awesome.

Poor from Australia. Ellyse Perry needs to open the innings so that we get to watch proper eyecandy for 20 overs the most explosive batsman in the team gets to face the most amount of overs.

Day 13: Bangladesh vs Australia
This Bangla team is there for the taking all of a sudden without the two chuckers and Tamim. Australia should look to boost their NRR heavily in case it will be required later on (probably won't as it's likely to be winner takes it all between Ind-Aus).

Coulter Nile has missed his length in this final over. Bangladesh has set Australia 157 to win. AUS will fancy themselves but Bangladesh aren't out of it by any stretch of the imagination.

Khwaja and Watson are such polar opposites. Watson is effective but ugly in his batting style, Khwaja is the most elegant Aussie batsmen I've seen after Mark Waugh.

Warner gone. Aussies having a bit of a collapse.
