The 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup will be the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup. It is scheduled to be co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States from 2 to 29 June 2024. It will be the first ICC World Cup tournament to feature matches played in the United States, and in any other country in the Americas outside the West Indies. England are the defending champions, having defeated Pakistan in the final of the previous edition.

The 20 qualifying teams will be divided into four groups of five teams; the top two teams in each group will advance to the Super 8 round. In this stage, the qualifying teams will be split into two groups of four; the top two teams from each group will qualify for the knockout stage, which will consist of two semi-finals and a final.

Tough to pick a winner I think - so you have to go for Australia.

Group D looks most interesting. You'd expect South Africa to comfortably get through but the 2nd spot could go to anyone. Sri Lanka are unpredictable, Bangladesh have just lost a series to the USA, Nepal and Netherlands are both capable of beating them on their day.

What is the buzz like in the States @Scarlett Dracarys? Do you think it will surpass the Super Bowl?
Nope not in a million years. Cricket isn't that big of a deal here. With the stadium going up hopefully it'll being some awareness to the sport and people will get more involved. At the moment it's only the West & East Indians that are over the moon and can't contain their excitement. People are camped out at the stadium during practice to catch a glimpse of the players.

Yeah T20 matches are tough to predict. India will rightfully go in as favorites, followed by the Aussies and England iirc. Can’t see past one of those 3 but wouldn’t write any surprises off either.

Given how absolutely sh*t the state of our team is right now, I fully expect Pakistan to reach the final.

India as favorites ? Our T20 team sucks!

@Ish Are you trying to reverse jinx South Africa? Because any team with Klaasen, Miller, Tristan Stubbs and De Kock as batsmen, and Rabada, Nortje (plus a couple of good spinners) is a pretty strong team and IMLTHO has a good shot to win it.

Oh no not this again.

fecking hell. a team with Rohit and Kohli at the top and we are favorites :wenger::wenger:

If India played our best team, we probably would be. However the team that is going is not our best team and not the favorite. No 5 bowler team (other than the Aussies maybe) are going to win this imo.

Our only hope is the selectors read the conditions and the west indies plays like a spinner's pitch.

Did you watch the IPL @Utd heap ? If so, you'd know our selected team isn't playing well at all

Just going according to the bookies, bud.

Hahaha I wish bud….we always have had very competitive cricket teams….but then you know….weve been experts at big tournament choking  Basically the reverse Australia when it comes to big tournament mentality

Tbf Kohli is a genuinely great T20 player. Rohit not so much, so he's going as a specialist captain. What do you think is India's best T20 team?

As expected. This event could change things. I'm sure most games will be sold out.

I'd have gone with Abhishek, Jaiswal, Kohli, Samson, SKY, Pant, Pandya, Varun C, Bumrah, Arshdeep and H Rana.

Rinku, and Parag also in and around the team.

They are. It's getting a pretty big turn out. Residents of Long Island got first dibs at the tickets. I didn't buy any because no West Indies games are being played there yet. Whenever they do I'll definitely go. I haven't gone to a game since I moved to the US.

Will they play there if they make it to the super 8s? If WI had Narine and Russell, Id have had them up there, too.

Hopefully. These are the games announced so far. I didn't even know the US had a cricket team. :D

Gudakesh Motie is decent and it's not only because he's from Guyana. We've produced some of the best players. Hooper, Chanderpaul, Sarwan.. just to name a few.

Yeah, I remember the US played in one of the champions trophies in the 2000s and were demolished by Aus and NZ, I think. Probably the same fate this time round.

It'd be nice to see WI do good. Still have some really good players - Mayers, Pooran, Hetymer if hes in the squad.

No game from Super 8 onwards is being played in the US.

I think India's biggest problem is that the Top 6 give them the square root of feck all in terms being able to get through a few overs. That's a massive issue, and Pandya's not reliable as the single 5th bowler.

While Australia have Marsh, Stoinis, Maxwell, Green who can squeeze an over or 2 out here and there.

I don't think we can win with the squad we've selected. Bang on about Pandya. His IPL showing was poor.

Looking forward to this. My predictions:

Semi finals - India, Australia, England, West Indies.

Winner - England (in reality anyone TBH but I will be biased).

Sri Lanka to be the dark horse if the pitches play slow and it's not a total slogathon. We should get plenty of mini shocks, I wouldn't be surprised to see Scotland give England a lot of trouble first game up.

Watch out for Motie for West Indies with the ball, and I like Brandon King for the bat for them to (backed both at big prices to be top wicket/run scorer).

Don't Fancy SA to much reliance on Klaasen with De Kock out of form. Not sure the bowling line up is at its peak.

Anyone watching the game?
I thought both Pandya and Jadeja were out.. not sure how the 3rd umpire gave both Not out...

Also, Bangladesh are terrible.. India have been poor, Bangladesh have been tragic.

Not watching but it should start becoming clear to people that we shouldn't be tagged as favourites.

Nahh mate. The Jokers in this thread think the bookies know better than people who actually watch the team

Yup, pretty crazy. Will need a lot of things going our way for us to have a decent chance.

I'm not sure you know how exchanges work.

India are favourites, this is a fact.

I don't think you'll win it.

India are shit at T20

The super 8s are pre seeded and we're going to get a hammering because we'll be in the same group as England, SA and WI

India even have their semi final venue confirmed if they make it that far - farcical.

I think it's structured in a way where India have a great chance of reaching the semis.. and India have picked a squad for the pitch/conditions..

This is far from a great T20 side.. but a couple of good days is all you need once you are that deep.. and the pitch will probably help.

I'd agree with that.

If England don't do it- would love to see the Windies.
