This is how the 2019 WC started off. I mean its quite common in cricket to see one sided affairs.

What's been good? No drama at all so far.

Yeah, we saw England get battered by NZ with a tremendous innings from a young and exciting talent. We saw South Africa bludgeon Sri Lanka with some fight from the latter. Pakistan avoided a scare with a solid win over a hard fighting Dutch team. And the hosts beat Australia much to delight of a billion people.

Were you expecting some sand paper controversy?

Erm ok - It's a world cup, there's obviously good cricket, just objectively it's been a dull start - I wasn't going for a contreversial opinion!

I'm just unsure what you wanted? Then again, I'm sure we'll get more action as it goes on.

I'm sure we will too! It's just been a dull start! Some interesting results like NZ hammering England, but the match itself was crap.

I think this is generally how ODI matches run these days. Not the same quick thrill as T20s and not the same engrossment as a test match.

Might be controversial but I enjoyed today's game more than the 400 game between SL and SA. I was watching the 2003 cricket wc documentary and the quality of the game with all the 230 to 260 games were fun.

Agreed. Those were fun times for the format.

Nah, diff in quality, top 4 vs any one is usually similar. Within top 4 only two games so far, eng vs nz and today’s. The reason you find it boring can be attributed to Eng not up to it YET and outside top 4 may be only SA/pak can challenge them. Fact of world cricket at the moment.

All said and done, Eng in a spot of bother already.

I think people are forcing an argument about tournament being dull and also with these empty seats thing. Of course BCCI have done a crap job but even with their mess their has been a decent turnout so far. Eng NZ had 47k spectators which is not bad , SL SA had pretty good crowd as well. And today again we saw almost full house. It was expected that Pak Ned and Ban Afg would not attract crowd.

I think with the games coming thick and fast excitement will increase. Some of the games in the coming week are Pak SL, Ind Afg, Eng Ban, as well as SA Aus would be fun.

This point is stupid. I watched back on some previous world cups and there plenty of half filled stadiums.

Exactly. Like I said I was watching the 2003 wc documentary and even then not every match had crowd. Even the 2019 wc we had poor turnouts in some matches. Also, it is pretty hot so can't blame fans joining late.

Yes and that was a shite start too. Hopefully this picks up.

I don’t mind Holland but what a waste to have them on as the only match of the day. They should be playing the early fixture on days with two matches.

It is what it is, I don't think you can start predicting teams to be rubbish and moving the schedule to accomodate that as organisers.

It's NZ that are being dead boring. Holland should be everyone's attempt at 500. They're not going for it

I think India will win this competition quite easily. The team that has all bases covered in batting quality and depth, bowling quality and depth, fielding ability and the last three WCs have been won by the host nation and they're more or less unbeatable at home in this era. I don't think they'd have let Sri Lanka get close to 100 runs chasing over 400 as South Africa did. Just a few weeks ago they bowled Sri Lanka out for 50 in a final. Like England in 2019 where everything peaked and came together at the right time I think the same will happen here.

NZ after England have had a pretty favourable run. Could be 4/4 before they play India, with a win to guarantee a SF spot in the last 3 games.

This all feels a tad disappointing from NZ, obviously going to win the game but really should have been looking for a higher total than what they are looking at now.

Nice fightback from the Dutch, anything over 250 will likely be far to many for them though.

They are rightfully big Favs, but in reality about 6 teams could win it.

Yup NRR was the difference between Pak and NZ 4 years ago.

Yeah,
Feels like they are about 30 runs short of where they should have been

Well that killed any momentum the Dutch had . What a last over.

Oh so Santner does know you’re supposed to hit the final ball. Last time he batted in the WC he ducked under the final ball.

Probably got enough here already but the middle order hitters haven't turned up for us yet.

England again struggling in the last quarter of an innings. This is really becoming a poor habit and something that won't get them through to the end stage of the tournament if it continues.

If Livingstone doesn't maintain form we look a 'proper batsmen' short. Curran at 8 is good, but not that good.

Bit of a habit of tailing off in innings.
