ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

Now they only need to get Gill, Kohli, Rahul, Iyer, SKY, Jadeja out quickly and we might have a game on our hands..

This is a very ordinary bowling attack. Boult apart they’re all rubbish (Lockie not suited for a pitch like this).

Kohli 25 from 30. Something about being selfish and trying to get a score or something...

As usual NZ are a very average side who perform well as a unit. Qualifying for three consecutive semi finals in ODIs is a mad effort.

They'll now likely get beat. And pretty comfortably today.

The questions over his earlier innings were largely completely reasonable other than the odd person who may have an agenda against him or whatever.

Noone is criticising innings building.

i think people would give kohli less of a hard time if he didn’t bring out a piece of paper and a calculator after every delivery to check what it’s done to his average and strike rate.

Whilst it was a joke, mate, I wont agree regarding questions over it. Id hardly question it even if India had squeakybum close matches as a result of his innings (which they werent even that)

Gill retired hurt. Does that mean he can come back later?

Think it's been talked over enough in here so won't go over old ground.

Can a retired hurt batter bat again?
A retired hurt batter or absent hurt is permitted to return to the crease if they recover before their team’s innings end. However, it must be noted that retired hurt batter can resume his/her innings only at the fall of a wicket or the retirement of another batter in their respective team.

What is the main difference between retired hurt and retired out in cricket?
While a retired hurt batter is provisionally allowed to bat once again during their team’s innings across any format, a retired out batter is deemed out under the Marylebone Cricket Club’s (MCC) laws of cricket.

Has the feeling of a procession about it. Id want 100/1 on Kohli NOT making a hundred here.

This is a really big score

160 off the last 20 should be doable and no team gets 380 chasing in a WC semi surely

South Africa could dream of it. England three years ago. Australia on a perfect day.

New Zealand...nah.

This is so impressive from India. Them v Australia in a final of a world cup would be something to watch, given its Australia.

The "used pitch" narrative not looking very bright right now, is it

SA / Aus better do better against India.. matches this one sided are so boring.

I don't like to judge until both sides have batted tbh. New Zealand looked like they would thump Pakistan after a big score and we all saw what happened there.

Three? This is their 5th successive WC SF appearance.

Even Boult hasn't been great. Just very ordinary all round. Nobody can get timely wickets.

The Daily Mail reported that Atkinson has become frustrated by changes to pre-agreed plans throughout the World Cup, and that he speculated in a leaked email whether the pitch for the final in Ahmedabad on Sunday "will be the first ever ICC CWC final to have a pitch which has been specifically chosen and prepared to their stipulation at the request of the team management and/or the hierarchy of the home nation board."

Surely if India are as good as everyone says they are, they don't need to do this, right?

Speaking to Sportstar, an ICC spokesperson said, “Changes to planned pitch rotations are common towards the end of an event of this length, and has already happened a couple of times. This change was made on the recommendation of the venue curator in conjunction with our host.”

“The ICC independent pitch consultant was apprised of the change and has no reason to believe the pitch won’t play well,” the spokesperson added.

If its the Daily Mail, you always need to look for other sources..

1. The daily mail
2. England changed all the pitches in the world cup in 2019 but you don't hear the rest of the world complaining about it.
