ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

Livingstone has been complete shite this WC.

He's not an ODI player.

Sliding towards another defeat. 6 in 7, what can you even say
"Sliding towards" is generous. "Hurtling towards" is a bit closer to the truth unfortunately.

This could actually be a close game if these two stay in for the next over.

@Djemba-Djemba "Sliding" was more accurate after all. We did far better than I expected.
Wasted two very good to great bowling performances, they will be kicking themselves that that managed to keep both Australia and India under 300 but still your batters contrived to lose both matches. What a disastrous fall from grace.

Adil Rashid has 15 less total runs (And a higher strike rate) than Jos Buttler, they've both played 7 innings.

We've lost 8 of the last 9 chasing but Buttler keeps winning the toss and choosing to bowl first.

It's odd.

Teams Mat Won Lost Tied NR Pts NRR
Australia 7 5 2 0 0 10 +0.924
New Zealand 8 4 4 0 0 8 +0.398
Pakistan 8 4 4 0 0 8 +0.036
Afghanistan 7 4 3 0 0 8 -0.330

NZ yet to play SL.
Pak yet to play Eng.
Afghans yet to play Aus and SA.

Australia seem like they're through, and it seems like Afghanistan won't make it because their remaining games are Aus and SA.

So essentially, it's NZ's place to lose. If they lose to SL, Pak just need to beat England. If they win against SL, then Pak need to pull out a hammering against England to beat NRR. SL can play party poopers here.

NZ play first, so Pak will know what they need to do before their game against England.

This has to be England's worst wc performance. Disaster of a world cup.

But on the last two matches it's arguable that he was spot on, in a different set of circumstances and in this era its unbelievable that England lost those two matches after limiting both teams to 229 and 286.

Guess Buttler didn't have enough confidence in his batting unit to go about setting a competitive target. Its still strange that even in the series against New Zealand, England were still competitive but this collapse is shocking because it sort of came out of nowhere.

Which is extra strange because in a few months time, most of those guys will come and smash it in the IPL

No you are wrong . They will come again to India for the test series and stink up the place and moan about pitches.

Now I leave

Liam Livingstone's performance here will get him released from his contract. Flatters to deceive in the IPL as well

Moeen will be released, as will Stokes I think for different reasons - mainly down to high wages.

He was an ODI player when he started out. He's just become a six-or-bust merchant since he got into the IPL.

Well played.

Let's just have five flat pitches and see what happens. Then no need for moaning. Seems fair, right?

The pitch is not a batting paradise. Seems on a slower side. That rohit innings was amazing.

Great batting from these two. I think if Kohli plays like this for another 10 overs, we will be in a very strong position.

This has been a great watch. Smart of both batters to respect the turn and grip off the pitch that the spinners were gettings, and see it through without letting the run rate drop too much. Very strong foundation to launch off, now.

Ricky Ponting in the commentary box claiming that 300 for India would be very difficult to chase on this pitch.

Smart batting by these 2 - hope they can covert to big scores. Looking forward to seeing what Kuldeep and Jadeja do with the ball.

Worth bearing in mind that Iyer was 11 off 35 at one point. His resilience out there through Maharaj's difficult overs and then the counter attack over the last few overs to reach what is now 70 off 78 is quite remarkable. Inspires a lot of confidence, this innings, no matter what happens next.

Edit: Out at 77 off 87. Had to go after Ngidi, mistimed that heave. Good innings, nonetheless.

Doesn't look like India themselves feel that 300 is enough here. Feels like they want 350.

Felt like that was just Iyer trying to accelerate. I wonder if this WC's Kohli plays for that elusive 49th hundred on his birthday instead of taking risks for the team.

Right now Virat Kohli needs to up his scoring. The final analysis will be kind to him even if he plods along but in context of what the team needs, he has to hit boundaries now.

Kohli's been struggling to find any fluency the last few overs. He's faced over a hundred balls this innings, and his timing is still off.

Rahul looked lost as well - SA might regret having SKY out there instead.

Kohli puts his stats above anything and everything. He is becoming a joke with these ridiculously selfish innings every other game.
