Aussie done probably in this game. Stoinis is their only hope. If they lose badly their NRR would be horrendous.
This is as bad as I've ever seen Australia. Certainly batting and definitely their fielding, some shocking drops.

Interestingly Australia only won 1 of their first 4 matches in the 99 WC (W1, L2, T1) then won the whole thing. Can't see the same thing happening here though.
They had champion players. you can never count those guys out. As long you have McGrath, Warne & Fleming in the bowling line up & Gillie, Ponting, Lehman, Bevan (what a cricketer he was).

I don't know what the solution is, maybe H2H record, but using NRR keeps leading to this happening. Especially as we've had so many one sided games.
A team knows they've lost about 25 overs in but to try and protect their NRR they just spend the next few hours blocking and nurdling and the game just dies as a result. It's really bad as a spectacle.

Started naming all the legends who have been the backbone of the team. Ponting, Border, Waugh, Clarke etc. Threw Finch's name in there too because he was sitting next to him
Bringing in Bonus points could be interesting as atleast SA can be a bit more attacking and will give Aus a bit more incentive to reach say 250 to avoid giving SA the bonus point.

Apart from Ind pak this Saturday, we are lined up for a probable boring one sided games till next week Friday when Australia take on Pakistan. Some may say Australia SL the coming Monday could be interesting but have a feeling that will also be one sided.
Typically a game on paper at some point will throw up a surprise. Otherwise sport would be this boring all the time. Fingers crossed.

Yep - test team and ODI team seem to be going in opposite directions.
India Pak is always one sided in ICC competitions. You guys trounced us in the Asia Cup just a few weeks ago.
In preparation Ill start drinking about 4-5 hours early so I am ready. This game is no asia cup. Important game, and its been a while.
We’ve got the monkey off our back so to speak in the ICC champions trophy and the 2021 T20 but they’re still exceptions, and not the rule. Hope we beat you but I’m not holding my breath.
