Thoughts on the tournament so far?

Sticking with my prediction that Australia will win it. They've got the best bowling attack for the conditions and it looks like that will decide it.

England have the best batting side but they concede too many runs. India will be dangerous with Bumrah and the two wrist spinners but lack of power hitters will hurt them.

I think it's far too early to judge.

It's been a great tournament so far.
 
Should be able to watch an hour of this match before I have to head out. Here’s hoping it starts off explosive :D

It's been a shame just how low on quality SA and SL have looked given the great batsmen they've had in the past, but overall I've really enjoyed the tournament so far.

I'm going to stick with England to win. I'll optimistically assume the Pakistan defeat will bring them back to earth, smarten their fielding and bowling up and get that little bit of attitude the likes of Roy seemed to be showing out of the camp. I'm excited for Aus v WI in a bit.

They do have that type of player. It's Mooen Ali.

If they had a better top order batsman who could also be picked up on the quality of his spin bowling alone don't you think they would have picked him?

Normally I'd agree but when you have a special guy like him who can lift a team.. a proven great (not just a media hyped player)- you have to be pragmatic and think what is best for the team. Based on their performance so far, it has proven to be a silly decision.
 
Oshane Thomas is genuinely one of the most entertaining fast bowlers to watch. When he's good he's awesome, when he's bad he's awful. Kinda similar to Wahab imo.

Don't agree. It's a team game. Rules have to apply to every individual or else they're pointless.

Had he said a year ago that he needed a break from international cricket until the World Cup I'm sure Saffers would have worked out a plan with AB in the squad. But the bloke retired and said at the time that returning for the WC is not an option. Then to make himself available for selection right before the squad announcement is quite a dick move. You can't just come and go as it pleases you regardless of whether you're AB or just a random nobody. Either you're committed or you're not.
 
So what's up with Trent Bridge? First the tournament's lowest score, then the highest, now back to being low. Surely it isn't just the Windies bowlers all of a sudden being so much better than everyone else?
 
Really hope this tournament is the last time I’m forced to watch Braithwaite :mad:

Pretty much agree with it. England need to stop conceding 350 in every game, if WI and specially Pakistan is able to do that to them on a regular basis, then it would be a bigger issue against better sides.

It will be interesting to see just how much India's bowling to turn games into their favour like yesterday. For one, they absolutely have to bat second in every game possible, allow their bowlers to get the teams out for low totals. I reckon they can restrict even Eng or Aus to something around 300 which should be chased despite our batting flaws. But our bowling definitely gives me more assurance, 4 good bowlers and Hardik/Kedar is enough for the support.

Why do you need ultra edge there you dumb feck. Third umpires need to stop wasting time for the sake of it.
 
I do respect players like your Smiths and your Roots who can come in one or two down and stay in to make a score after a few early wickets.

Carey gone, it looks like it's all on Smith now.

Aye they're great batsmen, I mentioned Smith and Root who've done it recently but yes probably all of the greatest 3s and 4s can do it. That ability to stay cool under pressure and dig out innings more often that not is brilliant.
