I understand your point but it's still the wrong approach. The bowlers can't always bail out, as has happened today.
180 from the last 20 is hardly unattainable.
80 from this 10..
100 from the last 10.
Obviously losing wickets can wreck our chances, but this isnt the stupidest way to approach the chase.
Its a small ground and a pretty flat track.. Also, they don't have a Bumrah to bowl 5 off the last 10..
England are still favorites, but its far from over.. 120 off the last 10 would kill it imo. Need to make sure we dont let it slip too far.
Think we were 20 runs too slow at all points.. I am in the Rohit approach camp - he knows his game and is one of the ODI greats, but today we were 20 short and I think that's what crappy is saying.

Problem is Rahul, I would have Pant open against Bangladesh and have Karthick in place of Rahul.
I actually typed out that the problem starts with Rahul and then deleted it. You're right, if Rahul is going to struggle while opening, might as well try something different as a backup option for the big games.

One batsman has to go for it in first 10 if you are chasing 300. Normally that would have been Dhawan. 338 chase on this pitch was on IMO but we reduce the margins to wafer thin with those first 15 overs.
Pant is pants
Rohit's tempo works very well for him - I'd put that onus on his batting partner. I'd like to see Pant opening and Rahul at 4.
Also, if Pant was preferred to Karthick, why pick the latter ahead? I know we needed a left handed batsman but still...

Additionally this approach seems to be hampering Kohli too imo. That clarity of thought seems to be missing despite getting a load of runs. Normally you'd back to set the tone in chases like these but he looks a bit lost. He's also said in the presentation a couple of times already that he doesn't mind playing this role but I feel it's not ideal.
