ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

Would've had one hell of a cricket team as well.

Have a feeling we're going to hammer them- bat first and score 300+.

And then Tendulkar to get his 100th hundred in Bombay to win the WC.

edit - 9k posts :nervous: where did all the time go?

And that is precisely why the dislike for bangladeshis is increasing here...although no where near the levels of pakistan. India could have occupied bangladesh but didn't, helped it to gain independence yet they will support pakistanis.

The awami league is the best of the lot.

India were looking after their own interests like most nations on earth would. However, let's no go there and enjoy what we have left of the WC.

PS: I have reinstated your permissions for the CE forum.

I agree we should keep this out of this thread .... even though in southAsia it is virtually impossible to separate cricket with politics!!

But I reckon we should thrash this out some time in a separate thread in CE some time? As I have understood more about history and what really happened, i have developed some very definitive views on the partition of India and the liberation and creation of Bangladesh.

Should get all those interested involved - I think it would be a great debate.

I've always held the opinion India should never have been partitioned.

Bro, I agree with you 100%. The worst possible decision that could have been made at that time was to partition India. And in this instance, even I am not sure I can blame the Britsih! :p

feel like a little school boy who has an school outing tomorrow .... cant sleep!!!! Have not looked forward to a game of sport like this since 25th May 1999. Nerves just jangling!!!

And Im quite ambivalent about who wins. I'd prefer India win and Pakistan lose, but I just know this will be a massive game with players and fans who will be serving up every single ounce of energy that they possess. It feels like looking forward to a heavyweight boxing match of epic proportions.

God I wish I had tickets!!! How the hell are the players going to deal with the pressure and adrenalin if I sitting here far removed in London feel like I do. Insane!

I've been enjoying the rest of the matches, but the world cup ended for me when we went out. How do you get so excited/nervous about a neutral game?

The time difference is a killer here on the West coast and I have an 8 am meeting. The Indians living in the apartment below are throwing a massive party, the junta downstairs seems to be pissed already and are screaming:
"gali gali mein shor hai ki aaj haramkhoron ki bari hai"

I have a feeling the cops are going to come by to put an end to this soon.

I'm off to bed. Hope it's not all over by the time the sun rises..

Imran Khan is starting to piss me off. Always wants to have the last word on everything.

Barkha Dutt saying 'THIS is the defining moment of the day' as she tries to coerce two people to bring India and Pakistan flags together.

feck off. This is about cricket not a one day temporary bonding session.

Oh I misread.

It's not about what he says he seems to have not an iota of humility in him. Always wanting the last word on the panel. He's like the goodish version of the evil Navjot Singh Sidhu. The two of them in the studio would have been hilarious if only to wind up Imran Khan.

I'll be honest I generally like her.

But this is about cricket you losers (not you btv).

I don't, she used to be ok, I think she has become a bit grandiose now.

I want the match today to be about war/hate/Kashmir/Kargil/Mubai/Hotel Oberoi etc etc

Beat each other black and blue.

A real rivalry :D

@the Imran comments, he has been a politician for what 15 years now right? Sounds about right.

I want us to beat them black and blue

No but seriously I'm not liking all this peace nonsense right now. We all know it's going to lead to feck all. I want the players to come out firing and the ground to feel like a bloody Cauldron. I'm not liking the friendly nature of the buildup. All the make our guests feel at home is all well and good but this is still a world cup semi against your arch enemies.

I'd like for India to win, but for it to go down right to the end, loads of twists, and complete heartbreak for the loser.

Like someone getting bowled out with 1 run needed to tie, or for a bowler to get a wicket to win the match, only for it to be a front foot no-ball, and then the freehit to be hit for a 6, and win the match for the opposition.

Th tears would be awesome to watch.

Oh and for Ratmal to get his teeth knocked in.

That is all.

You're pure evil.

Had called a few friends over to watch this at home. Thought it would be a good tension killer as well. That's got cancelled. Not a good sign.

Never heard of poonam pandey. A pointless nobody looking for attention.

So, any pre-match rituals?

I don't have a good feeling about this. I was actually more confident against Australia. Pakistan's bowlers, Afridi, Ajmal and Gul have freaking good bowling averages in this tournament.

I'm quite ambivalent about cricket but don't think i've been this excited/tense about a game since United - Barca in Rome.
