ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

Bowling is weak as it is already. Is the reasoning because Pathan is mentally stronger or India wanting to extend it's batting strength?

Bloody hell. I think it might be one of those '320 is a par score, 350 is a winning score' games. I really hope not.

Stats would disagree with such a game happening, too much pressure on the batsmen.

It's more funny when it comes to cricket though because you all support four teams. And there's only eight cricket teams all together.

I also used to love watching the Windies play. :D

I reckon it's because cricket fans are generally more intelligent and can appreciate a good team. :smirk:

The reason they cite is that Mohali's not expected to take turn. They should go for 3 seamers then.

So you are saying no Ashwin and have only Bhajji and Yuvi as our spinners? So we have Zaheer, Nehra and Munaf as our three seamers?

Pathan comes in for Ashwin according to rumours.

Only 2 seamers - Khan and another.

Calm Sultan is invincible Sultan.

If you stay calm India will win, I'm sure of it.

I can't find many reasons why India can't and won't win this game...

The dangermen from India's perspective who play fearless cricket are

-Afridi
-Gul
-Umar Akmal
-Kamran Akmal
-Hafeez

The rest just don't have it in them to cause much damage.

I can think one big reason.

Our bowling :nervous:

Rumours that Shoaib will play. Could be one last magic performance from him.

All their bowlers are tough to get away. If we bat first, we need a big score and it's not easy against this attack. If we chase, we need to restrict them and our bowling's simply not capable of it, even though their batting is quite bad. But if we chase, I would have faith even if they put up 350 on the board.

I have uni internal exams tomorrow

they changed the timing so we could get home in time for the match..

still, shit..
feck, I am nervous

Not going to happen against their attack and in such a high pressure game. In a bilateral series you see scores like that chased. Very rare to see it in a world cup semi and that too the kind of pressure on the players tomorrow.

Key factor tomorrow (well today now) - the openers. Our openers fire and it makes batting easy for the rest. If we can get their openers early we can get stuck into the very few good batsman they have.

I know what you're saying, I just have faith in our batting.

Fair enough. But I think your batting can only do so much.

That was one of the great one day innings.

What a day :D

Wow I remember that day but I had no idea Pakistan had Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Shoab Aktar. That is one hell of a pace attack.

Remember it as clear as day. He batted like a God.

Left the rest to have to score at 4 an over

Riaz is the weak-link in the attack but he is a better fielder than Akhtar and could offer a bit more control than Shoaib, although he does lack the express inswingers that Akhtar can produce.

I wonder if they'll stick with Ajmal or go with Rehman, Ajmal's the more threatening spinner but Rehman can offer something with the bat and in the field.

Im back in London now but was in Bangladesh for a few weeks catching the matches. There is a big debate there right now as to whom people will support tomorrow. The heinous actions of Pakistan are now over 40 years ago and given the age pyramid of Bangladesh the majority of people were born after the event.

Because of the nature of politics in Bangladesh (another long story), national history has focussed more on whom should take credit for liberation as opposed as opposed to ensuring that future generation never forget the tragedies their forefathers had inflicted upon them.

Confused within that is the modern day relationship with India which is not great and the propagated view that all Muslims are brothers. Tragically (IMO), that means that alot of people have become ambivalent about Pakistanis crimes (as heinous as the Nazi's over Europe's Jews) and the fact that is was Mother India who came to the rescue. Sure India had her own motivations, but no matter she still came and stopped the killing.

Net net, I'd imagine there is alot of people in Bangladesh supporting Pakistan over India tomorrow. I don't understand that, think its abhorrent and disrespectful to those who died to ensure liberation, but hey, thats just me.

And that is precisely why the dislike for bangladeshis is increasing here...although no where near the levels of pakistan. India could have occupied bangladesh but didn't, helped it to gain independence yet they will support pakistanis.

The awami league is the best of the lot.

India were looking after their own interests like most nations on earth would. However, let's no go there and enjoy what we have left of the WC.

PS: I have reinstated your permissions for the CE forum.

It will be an absolutely retarded decision to play Pathan instead of Ashwin tommorow, Ashwin's a better bowler than Pathan, and our batting is already strong enough without Pathan to attack any pace bowling attack in this world. Don't need the see to attack our batting lineup and weaken the bowling lineup anymore.

Btw only 12 hours or so remaining now, feck I'm getting tense now!

Agreed.

If they want pathan then drop a batsman.

There's no denying that...yes we were but we went about it better than most of the countries on earth. You may not know this but recently declassified documents claim that indira gandhi was planning to further divide pakistan and help balochs get there own piece of land but usa told her in clear words that it would not allow it.

Thanks but i think i will post very less there. :)

We really don't know the state of players minds.

As I've said before this is more about holding your nerve as much as skill. If anyone has played at a high level will know what pressure does to ones mind. I have seen players being physically sick before important games and are unable to perform.

You're proving my point. As classified documents prove India's only interest in dividing Pakistan was to weaken Pakistan so they had one less massive border to worry about. It would be folly to think they cared about the plight of Bangladeshi people from the tyranny of Paks armed forces.

So excited about tomorrow, best of luck to the Indian fans on the Caf.. even if I'm supporting Pakistan, just hope the game lives up to the hype.

I'm not sure you'll be able to hold back if a Pakistani thread crops up! :smirk:

Those pop up very rarely ;)

In world politics no one does anything from the goodness of there hearts! We had our motivations and since millions were crossing the border to escape the genocide we needed to take action. Not doing anything would have been bad for India both internally and externally and even worse for bangladeshis.

India shouldn't have been divided up in the first place. With no pakistan the world today would have been a better place. najam sethi is one pakistani that i dont consider "deluded".

I've always held the opinion India should never have been partitioned.
