ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

Trott should be no way near the one day team. England are going back to their pre Flower mentality.
Only place you can fault Trott today is not being able to change gears in the end.

Basically English still do not know how to play Spin. Sweep is not the answer, using your feet is.

Bell, Morgan and Bopara are very good at playing spin. I think England have a number of standard journey men cricketers in the present set-up.

Bopara is a sub standard player. England needed someone to take on the spinners especially part time one like Dilshan and SRL's third spinner Hearth on in the first 15. No one stood up.

Bopara plays with fear of being dropped. He's very good when playing for his county side.

Great piece of business? You've done nothing, lucky in a draw and then exploited people's love for the game..cnut just about sums it up.

More like a risk that paid off, and I took the risk because I wanted to watch the match. And I didn't look to sell. People offered to buy. Big difference. The kept upping the sum until I could not say no.

I'm calling bullshit. You don't 'book' them. The website crashed and they made it into a lottery like the CL final tickets, with 2 tickets per credit card.

I'll post photos from the match later.

Boring match. England getting schooled on how to play spin.

Not sure how posting photos from the match is gonna prove something. Zing is merely disputing your claim that you got 20 passes in advance.

Btw what you did was Ticket Touting, not sure how can you justify that, basically you've ripped off people by selling tickets at a price 20times more at the price value. Good business strategy but still a cnutish thing to do.s

I have a pic of all the tickets together. Shall post it for you. And mate about your claim, I wasn't looking to sell. They wanted to buy. And at that price I could not say no. Sorry if that makes you feel it was a cnut move. But as football fans we all know everything has a price.

Just one question, how did you book them when it went up for a lottery with 2 per credit card?

World cup 2011: Public ballots to decide ticket distribution | Cricket News | ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 | ESPN Cricinfo

A limit of two tickets applies to each application. Once completed and submitted, the applicant will receive a Ballot Application Number, which will be part of the draw made by computer on March 10. Successful applicants will be informed on March 11 and following an online payment through the Kyazoonga website, the tickets would be sent from the third week of March.

Have connections.

PS: You would be naive to think that is the only way to get tickets. Its India man, come on.

Basically, only one shock in the quarters. No one predicted it would've been New Zealand. But there you go.

This is embarrassing for England.

Anyone think it's a bit of a fix? just throwing it out there....

What I have been hearing is that everything is kind of fixed. And India will meet NZ in the final. Which I don't believe myself. But a lot of people have been saying this, and a few people are quite believable. It can turn out to be a bookie generated rumor to misguide betters, it most likely is.

Wow, total domination by Sri Lanka, great performance.

Sri Lanka will get to the final without facing a really tough challenge. Weird route to a final..

Thrashed.

England have a lot of thinking to do.

No, not really. Let's be honest, it's only cricket. It's a sport where the likes of Sri Lanka have won a world cup, would that be possible in any other sport? I've decided that it's not a proper game. We've got the likes of Ireland, who don;t even play the game beating England in the group stages. A game in which Holland with its 15 cricketers look anything but no-hopers. A game where its only a religion in one region of the world. This isn't a proper game. It's glorified kabaddi.

At least make it believable!

For all the doubters.

Cricket is brilliant. I take back all the rants I've made over the last two years. In fact mohali is the best place I've ever visited anywhere in the world.:D

Come on, it's not a proper game. On a more serious note, something must be done to globalise the sport.

Well yeah, cricket is a game played by people not good enough to play football, and Indians. So yeah, people not good enough to play football.

Cracking performance from our boys, fielding aside.

Bob Willis. He's such a good moaner.

 "England swimming in a treacle tin of mediocrity".

"Trott's match losing innings". Thought that one was very harsh IMO. Without Trott there to hold the innings together, things could have been a lot worse.

I don't think something must be done. It's been a brilliant sport the last 20 or so years with only an over commercialization ruining it a bit of late. This world cup has been great so far and pisses all over the football one last year. If anything the most important thing is to keep its roots strong in terms of a good contest between bat and ball, less complication formats etc. Next priority would be to globalize it. But as I said its been great so far and this world cup has been superior to the football one.

With the tournament being in India, can't look past them. Subcontinent conditions always tend to catch out the likes of Australia and England. S Africa will at some point shoot themselves in the foot like always and as will Pakistan.

May I just point to my first post in this thread some months ago.

I've been right about everything except Pakistan thus far. And Pakistan have plenty opportunity to prove me right still.
