ICC Champions Trophy 2017

Just wow, how did India manage to lose to this lot.

May be the best thing that happened to India. Refocused them imo as the bowling and esp the fielding was not upto scratch.

England are going to batter the winner of this. England vs India final really is the best thing that could happen in terms of a match, and atmosphere.

Amir!!! He's played a terrific knock.

Malinga doesn't have the pace anymore to trouble batters with the yorker.

Well done Sarfraz & Amir. The imbecile batsmen before them should have taken notes how these 2 batted (even with the drops). The chase was not the hardest but typically we made it hard.

England will demolish us but at least they've shown some fight today.

Surely not. What is with you and over exaggerations? 'Worst fielding performance in recent ODI history', 'Surely they have taken money to throw the match' and you are not even a Sri Lankan.
You're telling me SL never threw that game away??? That was a shocking fielding performance which cost SL the game.

I respect what Lanka have done for the game. Amazingly...such a tiny island produced a team of world champions only 15 years after gaining international status. Shame they've let standards slip but I'm sure they'll turn it around.

What do you mean throwing the game away? That they conspired to lose the game intentionally without giving their best? Or they took money to throw the game?

Half the time I don't know if you are trolling or not.

Pakistani fans -- why does Yasir Shah not play ODIs?

I'm not quite sure why they're so reluctant to give him more time to improve, but he didn't cause England any problems whatsoever in the series against us.

My theory is that what makes him a good test spinner aren't the skills that make leg spinners dangerous in this format. He's not a big turner of the ball, he doesn't have a great googly, and what is 'good areas' in test cricket is 'predictable' to an ODI player these days.

My home country is going to win
Bye Srilanka, my home country has lost it.

off topic.. and is absolutely none of my business but why do you make it a point to refer to SL as your "home country" - why not say "my country" or "my team" or something? I'm guessing you are a citizen/resident of a different country but still kinda feels weird to make explicit reference to it :p

And he likes to annoy the Indians here :p

So do you watch Cubs game and say "Yay! We won!!" ;)
You'll probably be branded a glory hunter by the "local" Cubs fans

Maybe that should be his tagline.. "Annoying desis since Jan 17, 2009"

I've been living in NJ before but I've never taken a lot of interest in baseball. I do support NY Giants but I used to share my apartment with a Pakistani and he was a massive Cubs fan so I usually ended up watching Cubs matches anyway.

But yeah, Sri Lanka my home country

Perera's drop was fecking hilarious. You couldn't ask for an easier chance

England are by far the superior team so should really cakewalk the semi but Pakistan did do the impossible and chase down 300 on the same ground last year so you never know. I think the reason why Pakistan generally do well in ICC events despite their horrible batting is because of the neutral pitches. If these tournaments were batting shootouts on flat pancakes then they'd be the first team on the plane home every time.

Crazy game, Pakistan have to bat first, bowling is clicking at the right time.

Why ? Bangladesh fans have created a fantastic atmosphere this tournement and have played the most exciting cricket along with England. From a neutral pov I would prefer yo see a ban vs eng game.

Are you a neutral from Bangladesh or a neutral from England?

Pakistan vs India of course would be super awesome

England.

Pak vs India sounds great but Pakistan are abysmal against India in ICC competitions, you might aswell hand the trophy to India.

I really want Bangladesh to win it, young, fearless, have improved significantly and also the underdog.

So will Pakistan collapse to a humiliating defeat in the semi final or the final? Our boys never lose respectably - no; it has to be a real shit shower raining down on the optimism of the Pakistani public.

You're right about that. They are the Spurs of modern day ODI / t20 cricket. I've been following them closely over past few years and its a really beautiful story that is developing.

so much natural talent and becoming more consistent as every tournament passes. They are in a good form in this tournament: all major batsman having scored significant innings, a seam attack who will cause havoc if there are good bowling conditions and real game winning confidence from the huge struggle they overcame vs New Zealand.

Of course, India starts favourites, but if India bats first in overcast conditions, I can see a scenario where Bangladesh restrict them to below 300. If they can do that, Bangladesh have the batting firepower and experience to seriously compete. Of course, if it's blue skies all day long and becomes a bullyboy batting track, then India may post close to 400 and its game over.

India/Pakistan would be an abysmal final as India will humiliate them which is unpleasant, especially in a final. India/England is box office, but it has very little romance as its just the monied teams playing amongst themselves.
