Ibrahimovic's replacement for whenever he leaves? Could also be strikers we usually don't talk about

Lukaku, Belotti, Icardi... my guess is it'll be one of those. Rashford isnt a Mourinho type striker and I'm not sure if he really has it in him to become the type to lead the line on his own for a Mourinho team (or a top team for that matter).
Capello reckons bellotti is better than batigol. Sign him up quick!

This with Rashford getting 50% prem starts too - he needs a lot more practice right now
I think rashford ought to be loaned out to a club he would play for most games. He's not good enough for Utd yet as he's greatly inconsistent. He may yet be another macheda and I think away from the ot pressure a bit he may come good

Has anyone mentioned Modeste? Typical Mourinho striker, strong, pretty quick and a consistent finisher. Probably wouldn't cost more than £30m either.

He's another young player scoring in a crap league. Look at delay in Holland and France
But Depay is playing in a different position and he was never as prolific as Dembele is.

Not saying we must buy him but just asking how is doing now.

He was pretty consistent last season when LVG played him upfront.

You can't expect him to slide right in the CF position and dominate it after being played on the wings entire season, it's not LEGO blocks we're talking about.

Looks like Lukaku is our best bet. Finding the regular goal scorer must be the hardest thing in the game.

Some of the top scorers in top 5 leagues:

La Liga: Apart from Ronaldo, Messi, Suarez the next best scorers are
Aspas - 15 goals
Griezmann - 14 goals

Bundesliga:
Auba - 25 goals
Lewandowski - 24 goals
Modeste - 22 goals
Werner - 15 goals

La Liga:
Belotti - 23 goals
Dzeko - 23 goals
Mertnes - 20 goals
Icardi - 20 goals
Higuain - 19 goals
Immobile - 18 goals

Ligue 1:
Cavani - 27 goals
Lacazette - 24 goals
Gomis - 16 goals

Few of these players aren't good enough or old players and few of them are impossible to sign. Very small bracket to pick a good player.

Aubameyang looks like he's going to leave this summer. His preferred destination is Madrid but not sure if they are interested in him. Apart from them, only City have been linked to him. Shouldn't we be showing more concrete interest?

We need a world class striker to transform our play. Someone who can put away chances regularly and gets into goal scoring positions.

If we stick with Ibra and Rashford, we will be fighting for top 4 again next season.

Really hope not.

There aren't many good goalscorers who are available, especially someone who is young and can provide years of service. Only good goal scorers who might be available is Icardi and Belotti but even Icardi will cost a lot and he is near useless outside the box.

Zlatan has put away more chances than any other PL striker this season. Oh and he sure as hell gets into goalscoring positions. ;) I think what we need is the support cast helping out more in terms of goals scored. Martial, Rashford, Mkhi, Pogba...

There will always be good goalscorers on the brink of making it big. At a top club like United, someone with a better all round game is preferable.

Benzema would be a dream. If Madrid go for Hazard surely they'll have to fund it somehow, and I'm guessing Hazard would play on the left with Ronaldo through the middle.

I agree with that. Even in my post I wrote "hopefully we unearth some gem" and then deleted it before posting as the chances of that happening is like none.

I actually wouldn't mind Martial getting chances up top next season no matter who we sign. I still think there's some wonderful tools there to make for a great striker.

I believe Martial is better suited as Left winger. He will have space to attack the fullbacks.

Possibly. I do think he's young enough for it to still be conclusively decided. I can see him becoming a top player in either position.

Yeah. He should be, he is a superb talent. Hopefully he gets run of games without getting dropped. His development this season has been disappointing.

I was talking more the pressure hes under to score at ot when hes given the chance to play upfront. It may be better to take him out of the firing line and see if he can freely score at an Albion Watford or Stoke somewhere mid table. It might destroy any confidence he has if he keeps missing chances, and end up like Macheda for example. Thrust into the limelight then go astray.

Is there a reason they're all born in '91 ?

Yeah if we're replacing Ibra it can't be with a nobody. He brings more than footballing quality.
Nope, no reason whatsoever. Just coincidence. :)
I know that they may not be that interesting at the moment. Was mainly thinking of starting a discussion and also thought those strikers seemed interesting. And I was also wondering if they have good development potential, if so, they could still be interesting in the future. You don't have to buy 19-20 year old players all the time. Sometimes players develop late and start their 'real career' at older age. Drogba was 24 when he joined Chelsea. Not saying these are the next Drogba, just trying to make a point...:D

As a squad player back-up striker if Ibra legs it. Rashford will still be too raw. We always did great with an experienced 2nd striker. Many on here have suggested Defoe and he is on a free so the joke is on you mate
Defoe is nowhere near United quality. You're having a laugh.

He's been efficient and quite good in Bundesliga but don't know if I'd dare to get him in when knowing he 'failed' at Rovers the last time he played in the PL. Don't remember him from that period so I can't say if and how much he's developed.

You wrote La Liga twice :).Looks like it's the Serie A strikers that would be realistic to get by looking at the names and also be able to do a good job...

He played 9 games for Blackburn 5 years ago, I don't think it's anything to dwell on.

Don't think they'll sell Benzema. I'd think there list of potential sales (though I don't know much about Real Madrid so I could be totally wrong) if they have to sell are:
James Rodriguez, Lucas Vazquez, Danilo and Isco because of his contract situation and he doesn't extend.

Do you know why it was only 9 games? As I said, don't even remember him playing in the PL. :)

It was a loan deal from January to the end of the season, Blackburn got relegated as well so that should solidify the irrelevance of that spell.

Still think 9 games is a low number. But he's scored some nice goals this season...
