Ibrahimovic's replacement for whenever he leaves? Could also be strikers we usually don't talk about

Aboubakar? To be fair I've only seen him play once, but he was excellent in that match.

Aaron Wilbraham.

Is he still 'active'? Isn't he close to 40 now?
Yeah, he's at Bristol City. Plays only the occasional game now. Great to have around though, definition of the model professional as club captain.

Ah, the Championship, haven't followed it for quite some time. Glad to hear that he's still playing in a good division.

Definitely, very popular figure in Bristol, does his fair share of charity work off the pitch too, seems a great guy overall.

Always great to hear that players take their time and use their 'fame' for something good. More players should be doing this more instead of focusing on their looks and what cars they should buy.

I like the look of Belotti from my very limited viewing. Seems like the type of striker Mourinho would like too.

I agree, a really good player who can still develop into a top player. Capello likes him too and he should know:
"He is one of the best strikers in Europe, he knows how to move and can do everything.
"He is fast and powerful, and technically perhaps he is even better than Batistuta."

I must say that he has a funny way of celebrating :). He's known as 'the Rooster'. His 'gesture':

Seems to have both feet on the ground too. About his nickname:
"It's a way of fighting back to those who say one day I'll get big headed"

He's actually one of my favourites if it's going to be an expensive player to replace Ibrahimovic and the biggest names aren't available.

Is he better than Ciro Immobile?
In my opinion, yes, Belotti has a lot of 'development potential' but is still really good at the moment. By the way, great to see Ciro doing so well at Lazio. He's on fire. Really good player.

Andy Carroll as a plan B for the inevitable long diagonal assault late in games at Old Trafford next season.

Only half joking.....

Lukaku it will be. With Jose and Mino being BFF's now then the smart money would be on Lukaku and there has been rumours that Conte prefers Alvaro Morata if Real are willing to sell him. If Conte goes for Lukaku then maybe we can go for Morata instead which would be great. One of those two and Jermaine Defoe or Ibra playing the Chicharito/Ole role with Rashford covering the wings and we'd have great options up front.

I like the look of Icardi but haven't been following Serie A to know the material difference between him and say Belotti.

Kasper Dolberg could be one for the future. Let him develop at Ajax and move to another top European B-side (Dortmund, Inter, Atleti, etc.) and prove himself before buying him in his early 20s - especially if Rashford disappoints.

Defoe? :lol::lol:

Is there a reason they're all born in '91 ?

Yeah if we're replacing Ibra it can't be with a nobody. He brings more than footballing quality.

Nobody. As what would happen to Rashford? We don't need any attackers in the summer. Rashford and Lingard are the future.

Rashford is simply not good enough to lead the line. And Lingard is just not good enough to start for United. Bench player at best.

Defoe as a back up striker isn't a mad idea, we're crying out for finishers and he's been excellent with a serious lack of service.

I've always liked him too and bought he could be a surprise option.

I really like a Icardi, as he comes alive in the penalty box, but Belotti is increasing in my estimation, as he seems to be a bit more dynamic outside of it too. Icardi is the more cultured and clinical finisher I think though.

What I will say too is I think we'd be comfortably in the top 4 if we still had the option of Chicharito in the squad. The amount of times we have nobody in the six yard box on the end of these crosses, as all of our strikers are pretend strikers who like to spend half their time in the number 10, 7 or 11 positions. Hernandez would probably have turned at least two of these draws into wins, and that's all it would take.

Belotti is looking the real deal, but he'd cost a feckload of cash though, I'm assuming.

From what little I've seen of Bellotti (1 game + youtube vids) he looks like he'd bring exactly what you are talking about with Hernandez, that hunger to get in the box, in addition to looking like a more accomplished footballer outside the box. Looks like he's a pretty strong header too, not that we'd see any of that unless we bring in a winger and a fullback that can cross the ball. I'm going to try to catch more of his games now.

Lukaku Lukaku Lukaku.

We need to splash the cash for him. But personally I'm hoping Ibra stays for another season. So if that happens, Chelsea will probably get him sadly....

Lukaku is a dumb forward.

If, a big IF, Rashford was going on loan for a season, I would certainly not turn my nose up at taking Jermaine Defoe for a pittance as a squad player and buying a new, top-class striker to rotate with Ibra for 1 season before Ibra leaves.

Reliable goal scorers tend to.

Haven't seen much of him before this season, so can't comment on the reliable, but he's still relatively young, any chance it could just be a purple patch? Why it could be risky to blow that kind of cash on him.

He's sustained this period for close to 24 months now, so it's a reasonable sample I think.

I wasn't sold at first, and still have some reservations, only because there is very little 'beauty' to his game, I think. He doesn't look particularly 'talented' in the conventional sense of the word. That said, he reminds me of Diego Costa, who I also considered to be averaged, despite all the goals he got in Spain. Just very little finesse. Belotti seems to get a lot of scruffy goals (typical Italian centre forward perhaps in that sense), but this leads me to fear that it may not necessarily work all the time. Icardi, for instance, has far more grace and precision with his finishing.

That said, I'm just appreciating that every striker can't be of the R9 variety. Someone like Ruud was levels below Henry in terms of ability, but was the goalscorer we needed at the time. Perhaps we have a bit too much style and grace in attack as it stands, and not enough Belotti- so perhaps his efficiency would complete us.
