Ibrahimovic + Thiago Silva

Cheap for the two of them imo would think about 70-75 would be sound.

And no bad word from fair play Platini and Blatter....

Anyway Rioala seems to have done it again. This deal may end up bad news for us, since Allegri had already said that he wants a quality replacement for Pirlo.

Didn't Thiago Silva come out and say he didn't want to play for PSG when the deal for him fell through a few weeks ago?

A lot of money for two players who will be 28 and 31 in the early months of the season.

Milan are done spending crazy amounts.

Berlusconi will have to spend now. Dont forget that AC Milan has lost the old guard (Gattuso, Nesta, Zambrotta, Inzaghi, Van Bommel and Seedorf), which need to be replaced.

Christ Ibrahimovic has had some money splashed on him during his career.

Is he the record holder now (total transfers) ?

I know Vieri was up there up at one point.

It was all posturing by Berlusconi who said Thiago Silva will remain. I guess not.

This is touted as 170MM transaction for AC Milan - 62 transfer fees + 108 in wages savings. Milan and Inter have done a good job of getting rid of their highest earners.

Yeah, what people don't realise is that Milan need to save and the wages play a huge part in that. Good deal for them imo if they can get 2-3 exciting young names in.

I don't get it, Milan wouldn't sell Silva for 46 million euros last month but they'll sell Ibra and Silva for 62m? Surely someone would have given Milan more than 16 mil for Ibra?

UEFA shouldn't be expected to comment on the financial transactions of clubs. Just as your government doesn't dictate how you spend your money - provided, when your financial returns are examined, you've paid your due taxes.

UEFA's say will come (if it does) when clubs across Europe submit their accounts for scrutiny to determine eligibility for the Champions League.

Zlatan earns 12 million euro a year, only 6-7 clubs can afford paying that in wages. Milan the other day set a internal wage cap that no player should earn more than 6 million euro a year so they need to get rid of Zlatan or get him to reduce his wages with 50% good luck with that... So instead Milan cash in on him, 16 million euro isn't that bad for a 31 year old that they need to get rid of. Zlatan is reluctant to move though and seems to be asking for 16 million euro a year from PSG.

He never was worth 30 million quid

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Tickled me that one.

Anyway, Milan are in a bad, bad way with regards to finances at the moment, so a massive payday and the wage reductions are vital to them, the whole Thiago Silva alone bids is a bit baffling, as Zlatan is easily worth more than the differences in the bids, whereas one was seemingly turned down and the other seemingly accepted.

More than what meets the eyes I'd suspect, Silva probably asked for a wage hike, which has led to Milan seeing him as expendable now rather than waiting for his contract to run down.

Milan can probably invest in five or six good young-ish players with that money, if they want to. I can see the logic behind it, though stripping your team of its best two players is extremely risky.

Its not confirmed, is it? Risky move but can work great if they can get good players in. Will see them struggle a bit short term though. Quite comfortably their 2 best players these guys.

Weren't there rumours that they're going to spunk quite a bit of cash on Julio Cesar? How much would he cost?

That makes sense, PSG was probably the only club who wanted him who was willing to pay those wages. To make up for it Milan take a few million off the price for each year of the contract and you have a fair price.

Though that 16m price is assuming Silva was only 46m of the deal, he could have been a lot more, 46m was the number the turned down earlier.

Hard to imagine anyone challenging PSG domestically in the long term, not unless another billionaire buys a French club. With Monaco and Auxerre playing in the second division, Marseille struggling and Strasbourg essentially in the Conference, hierarchy has changed.

£62m for both? That's actually a very good price when you see some fees flying about now.

€62m for the duo is a great deal for both teams. PSG don't care about money all that much and €62m isn't really all that much for one of the best defenders and one of the best strikers in the world. For Milan it'll free up funds to build a young new squad but admittedly they'll be left with no true stars. Their defence was carried by Thiago Silva and their attack was carried by Zlatan. It'll be a very average squad.

I think their attack is fine with still Cassano, Robinho and Pato left. Its the defense they have to worry about.

It's not a good deal for AC Milan at all in my opinion. They're basically losing their two star players who they could probably get more for: one of the best strikers in the world and one of the best defenders in the world. They're really going to struggle to replace both. I can really see them struggling to win the title next season.

They're skint though and have plenty of areas to improve and on the basis of last season it'll take quite an effort to make a step up to a level they were at in 2003-2007. They'll have to make some shrewd signings to be back there at the top, they need to learn a lesson or two from Newcastle on how to use the excess of money. They could buy four or five very good talented young players for that kind of money or they could go down the Liverpool path and buy some crap, let's just wait and see.

They still have the pull of being a huge club and it'd be wise to make the best of it by signing players like Dzeko, Sahin, Diarra etc. that they've been linked with, the ones that have been rejected by big clubs already and are available on the cheap.
