In what way a injury prone Player with limited body of work is the right player for right price when he is costing 35 m.
35 m release clause paid upfront in this financial Climate when Cash flows have been seriously impacted for a player who has hardly played in last 2 season and may not even be better than our Current CB's isn't prudent and you can't blame Club for not going for him.
It's a big gamble rather keep Bailly and Jones if we are so keen to keep our medical staff busy.

Why's everyone got their knickers in a twist over this transfer? Could you imagine if we spent £35m on a CB with an injury record worse than bailly's? There's no way we could ever gamble on this lad.
It's closer to 30m I think, which for his potential is extremely modest. His injury record is a concern, but at that price, given his quality and age is quite a tasty deal.
Sure, for someone who can take on that risk, but if we were waste another 30m on another CB who wont help us, it would be utterly criminal. No one could seriously say we should be taking such a risk.
I think a lot of people are viewing this transfer in the eyes that it all works out rosy, which is by no means a given.
I know what you're saying. I agree that we have to get it right. Outside of Varane, I don't really know what sure bet is left. Upamecano would have been the one, in my view. People rave about Pau Torres, but I haven't really seen enough. It's all academic with Konate anyway, he's heading to the scouse.
There were meltdowns over Minamino, likewise Keita. Let's just see jow it works out.
Yeah, it's tough. Varane would definitely be the best option, but hence the pretty penny you have to pay for him.

When I’ve seen him play he’s honestly not been particularly good. I know you are paying for potential and he’s only 21, but I haven’t been as impressed as most on here seemingly. His injury record is awful too. Lot of question marks over this transfer.

Why are people pressed over this signing? 35 mill on Bailly the 2nd (we're selling the original). As far as I'm concerned Leipzig are discreetly rubbing their hands behind closed doors over a more than welcome trade-off.

Konate is a good defender but too much of a gamble given his injuries he has sustained throughout his career. It's a risky decision given that Gomez is also injury prone. Bundesliga doesn't seem physically challenging either so with a heightened emphasis of this in English football it could back fire. Only time will tell.

Yes agree. He was subbed for Upamecano at half time which is a bit strange sub to make at 0-0. Maybe they just wanted to play both CBs.

As I said earlier today why sign Konate of all players after a season where all your defenders have been injured?
He is meant to be more talented than Upamecano, but a total piece of glass for the rest.
His issue was just one injury that caused him many issues. He's since had surgery on it and thus far he's been injury free.
He's 'only' been back from injury for three months and in that time hardly played. Very good signing if he can stay fit but its a gamble.

Him not playing is understandable due to Nagelsmann having worked extensively with the regular backline.
It's a gamble that Liverpool need to take because they aren't gonna compete in the transfer market with City. So signing Konate for £30m gives them wiggle room. Because if they can keep him fit he could prove to be a absolute bargain for them, due to his ability to play in a low block or high line whilst enforcing the press. He's also aerially very dominant which is something Klopp likes along with physicality and pace if reports are to be believed.
And so it begins…rivals tying up transfer targets while we no doubt dither through the summer...
There's also the fact that, apparently, whenever he has appeared this season, he's looked shaky more often than not. Maybe he'll be more assertive at Liverpool, but his recent performances only made things more difficult for him at Leipzig.
Still, I think that he's a great signing for them, and I expect him to make a big impact.
