I don't think Rooney's touch is bad.

Don't really care what he earns unless it stops us from getting rid of him when we want to and it's not like we look like getting rid of him any time soon, so....

He's always been a weirdly streaky player though. Even at his best he was capable of games where some basics like touch and short passing just went haywire. The opposite of someone like Iniesta, whose passing/touch is always on point even when he isn't playing well. His mindset always seemed a bit erratic too. He could go from looking totally over confident in one game to totally shorn of confidence in the next.

Rooney's 1st touch is bad, but not as bad as people like to make it out, some of us just really love to put him down. It's like everytime we play, some here just waited for him to make a mistake.

Although I'm a newbie, I have been around this forum for quite some time. Even if the topic of this thread is a bit far fetched, some positive on our captain is nice lol. Rather see this than a thread on how dull Rooney's statement/interview is.

I think Rooneys biggest issue now is not his touch but his ability to explode into a burst of speed when he gets the ball. He is like your first car. You loved it and you have a lot of memories, but it's older and while it runs fine... It takes a while to get going.
I also think he will have a really good year next season. His long passes are getting better and better and he does a lot of things that make him valuable.

Its not his touch that is bad but the attitude. In a lot of game he doesn't play with the desire of old Rooney. When you don't play with desire, you become casual and end up doing really silly things. Passing straight to opposition is one of those :D Desire and self belief and a bit of arrogance are a must for a good first touch, a first touch pass or a half turn. Once you make one wrong pass, if you're not mentally strong (or if your heart's not into it), you will end up being crap throughout the game which is what Rooney suffers from more often than not.

We all saw what he did in the FA cup final with his dribbling for the Mata's goal. Just for a brief period, Rooney was arsed (because he knew FA cup is one trophy he hasn't won) and all his touches were exceptional. You just have to concentrate real hard to get your touches and dribbling right. You'd expect Rooney to be able to do that since he is a professional.
