Hypothetical: Would you reject a >£100m offer for Bruno from Saudi? | Same question but £200m?

Would you sell Bruno for...

Not a chance. Any realistic replacement would be a massive downgrade. I don't have numbers, but I would guess CL is worth more than £100m (incl. the indirect profits).

100m doesn’t even get you a full Declan these days. At 150-160m, maybe I’d consider.

We should really have the kind of squad that'll make most of us go "I'll drive him there myself for the price". But we don't. He stays even with that sort of a bid.

£100m on Declan Rice is the sort of crap massively overpriced deal Woodward would make. It's not representative of the true value of £100m

We’re shocking at spending anyway, so considering Bruno is the best creative midfielder in the world, there is no way I’d sell even if Saudi Arabia were to offer £1Bn for him, let alone £100m. We simply wouldn’t replace him adequately, albeit there might not even be a way to replace him properly. He is the brain of the team, and the heart of the club.

Two good midfielder just went for >£100m. No, I wouldn't take the same for an excellent one.

As much as he frustrates me sometimes, I wouldn't accept a 100m for him. He's still arguably our best player, and we should be aiming at having the best team possible. Selling him would make us weaker.

What would £300m get us? We'd flunk it.

He's the last player I'd sell. 100 million is nowhere near enough. Especially considering our success rate with transfers! How many significantly worse players have we signed since Fergie left? 40? 50? I do not like those odds...

£100m isn't even a good offer. Rice went for more and £150m was offered for a 31yr old Salah.

£180m and we're getting somewhere.

Painful. And a couple years later we were signing the exciting Phil Jones.
Pretty certain Varane and Jones went in the same summer. Varane turning us down citing the Jones signing as a block to first team minutes. That and the small matter that he was wanted by RM as well. Think he went for about 7/8M…madness

edit…yeah they both went summer 2011 and Varane fee was circa €10M

At the beginning of a transfer window for an almost 29 year old player - I would have sold him.

Our list of what ifs is almost as glorious as Wenger's.

Jones had nothing to do with it - I read that he wanted to go to United, until a certain Zidane entered the picture.

Bruno isn’t good enough technically. Would obviously take that.

How much would it cost to replace him?

100M may seem a lot but see what we just paid for Hojlund.

Different, yet more relevant hypothetical question…

Would you trust ETH and the current ownership to reinvest the £100m in anything approaching a wise manner…?
I don't think ETH is in the conversation. How long was it before we got any value out of Ronaldo's sale to Madrid ? The Glazers swallowed that whole. I would suggest a 100m for any of our players would disappear.

Bruno is wildly overrated by our fans and we already signed an overpriced player in his position. I'd have sold him in a heartbeat for good money. At least we could compensate the mistake we did with the Mount deal a bit. He's definitely not a player who should be indispensable like KdB at City etc.

Not that we'd have used the money wisely when you look at this summer's transfer business but you should sell when a player finds his value and you get a great offer. But we have a strange kink about holding onto players for far too long and try to sell them when their value is completely vanished. That's why clubs like Real, City, Chelsea, Liverpool etc get good money for their players and we got next to nothing when selling ours.

I'm pretty sure if a crazy offer came today for him we wouldn't even think about it and then regret it after 1-2 years as his value is only going to go down from here. That would be so typical of us.

If you think Mount is even half the player Bruno is you're mental.

As much as I respect Bruno, I would bite their hands off. Bruno is not a £100m player.

Salah for £200m changes the perspective wildly doesnt it.

If he's 200m in Saudi, Bruno is at least 140m. Rashford probably 240m.

Not really because half of that is because of his nationality and religion.

If a similar offer came in that Liverpool got for Salah, at a similar time (ie last couple of days) - would you accept?

Would you expect the club to accept?

Interesting to hear everyone's thoughts.

The offer is a giant reset button for Liverpool essentially, so it's interesting they've rejected it (and I get how late it is in the window so it won't allow them to find a replacement) but it's reminiscent of the Coutinho deal. I'd say Bruno is probably similar to Salah in the sense that they're both talismanic for their respective teams.

I wonder how we'd feel if we were on the receiving end of such a bid.

(Any chance of a poll as well, @mods)?
With the Glazers as our owners? 1m percent never! If we had owners who knew how to spend wisely to recruit team strengthening like FSG have proven they do? I'd bite their hands off. Its that simple.

ETH is absolutely in the conversation.

He’s being given carte blanche in the transfer window and is operating with no DOF above him.

If Utd have 100m to spend on transfers, it’ll be ETH who names the players.

And personally, I don’t rate him in that area at all.

We all know we would feck up the money and would never be able to buy a good replacement, so while I do believe Bruno isn't world class and doesn't deserve such sum of money, he's better than whatever option we'll scout to buy and replace him. No thanks, I'll take what I have rather than the unknown, especially for an awfully run club like United.
