Hugo Lloris

Well Domenech must be the only person with this opinion, as I'd assume most of the footballing world would agree United are one of the biggest.

I bet that even Domenech doesn't believe that, he tends to say things just to make the buzz.

One league cup win in the last 15 years cement just how big a club Tottenham are compared to Manchester United. Not forgetting the other league cup they won in the previous 10 years before that.

The only truth is we are not as strong as Chelsea, City and Arsenal right now the league proved that but apart from that the rest of that interview proves Domenech is a crazy white haired bellend.

must have been over excited watching all his prospective new team mates fly out to america on sky sports news this afternoon. he only has himself to blame.

Was this in their first training session of preseason?

Surely decreases the likelihood of him coming here, and which in turn will strengthen our resolve to keep De Gea. Good.

I was surprised that Hugo Lloris was a sub today. You'd think that if he were fit enough to play, he'd start.

Just a theory, but maybe the clubs had a deal that neither De Gea nor Lloris would play today because one is destined to replace the other and they didn't want to risk injury. That would make sense if United were the instigators of the deal.

It's an interesting theory

Pretty sure such a deal would be against pl rules and liable to a hefty fine / points deduction

No doubt. But if we sell De Gea and then sign Lloris in the next few days I'm going to assume it's true.

Nah if he was on the bench because of the transfer it was to prevent any injury same as every club do when a transfers is close to conclusion. Nothing wrong if this was the case.

Can you recover from a broken wrist in 3 weeks?

I had a hairline fracture on my wrist once, hand was in a cast for four weeks, also you lose a lot of strength while in cast, I needed physiotherapy to get some strength.
So far a PL goalkeeper I guess it will take around 6 weeks to be back in action

Pretty odd that he's even on the bench then. Should've asked us for a GK. We've got loads.

If he does have a fractured bone, it is very strange that he was on the bench.
I'd like to see Romero in goal again.
He was decent yesterday. Made some great saves. And he did all of this without knowing English and being told only a few days ago that he would be in goal. Once he gets settled, I think this guy could be great for us.
At this stage, I'm not convinced that Lloris will be an upgrade over Romero.

He is going to cost us upwards of 40m. Spurs don't need the money and I cant even see this happening unless lloris forces the move.

Not really. He played some of our last pre-season game, so he was clearly able to come on if Vorm had got injured or sent off. It's just that his wrist may not yet be quite up to full strength/healing, so Poch thought it better to take the long view and not risk it.

Overrated, overpriced. Do not want. I'd rather we went for an unproven gem again than sign soon to be 29 Lloris for 30M

And play who in net until he proves himself? Romero? No thanks. I'd be up for signing a young keeper but one that has proven himself.

At 29 you'd get another 6-10 years out of a keeper, anyway.

I would tend to agree because I'm a Lloris fan but I think one of his best qualities.. if not his best is sweeping up when bolting off his line, something he may not be able to do as quickly and effectively once he strays into his 30's.
Edit, just something to think about anyway.

One of Lloris, Oblak or Leno. Surely we can get one of them if de Gea leaves.

He also makes a lot of mistakes when coming out. So it wouldnt be that bad if he would chose the right moment, instead of doing it all the time.

what and hope they come good, we wait for them to develop over a few seasons like De Gea?. now thanks I want someone who can hit the ground running.

Unproven gem?

DDG was hardly unproven. He was a regular at Atletico and won the Europa league with them. You could all see the potential he had. It's whether he could handle the premier league.

But of course some people want us to sign unproven goalkeepers like Taibi, Howard and Carroll.

He's still a great shot blocker and all round keeper. Definitely prone to a few mistakes though, but nothing Frans can't iron out.

He's not a worth anywhere near 20M and Spurs will want way more than that. Not even world class.

Do not want - gonna be too expensive. Why pay all that money for someone prone to clangers? Plus he'll no doubt want a huge salary.

Rather we spend that money on someone like Oblak.

Goalkeeper is definitely NOT the position you take a punt on an unknown gem. Lunacy

I couldn't give a shit how much we pay for a decent De Gea replacement, which Lloris would be. We wouldn't miss £30m.

I'd rather we get someone in like Timo Horn, Leno, Oblak or even Mattia Perin who looks like a young version of Lloris if you're into sweeper keepers.

Spot on. I remember praying Ferguson wouldn't be swayed by Neuer's performances and kept on de Gea...but now looking back on it, it might've bit us in the arse a bit. :(

Im just glad we're not linked with him at the moment. Spurs are a nightmare to conduct business with. They'll keep us waiting until the final hour. Lloris is not worth that mess for me.
