How much would you pay for Ronaldo?

Nothing in this current setup. He would get castrated and it wouldnt work. Bale on the other hand could play the Memphis role.....

castrated

Louis' philosophy going to strange new places

I don't think going over £65m (including wages) would be worth it tbh, considering his age.

£80m. Would win us a couple of titles and a title for £80m is very cheap considering it cost City almost 1 billion. Not to mention new sponsorships, shirt sales.. he'd nearly pay for half his own wages.

£86M. Think that would be the world record fee and it would do wonders for his ego:D - so it would be a good start.
I'm serious about the cost because I know we'd make shitloads off the pitch - from him coming back and being here. He will also perform on the pitch as well. I would do it. Far more of a certainty than getting Bale (and before anyone has a go at me - it's just my personal opinion that Bale hasn't shown he's got that 'superstar' quality on or off the pitch).

An honest price would be €70m, but that's only considering his age. As a footballer he's worth €130m - with the assumption he'd stay in this shape for eternity. The problem I see is he's going to have to adjust within 5 years to play a slower game than today. He can probably go on building on his body - he's shown the world already that he's able to create unrealistic results with his training. We don't know if Ronaldo is able to play a role that older strikers usually have to accept. Injuries will also be a huge factor to decide his future. He gets a knock and it could be over from that day.

A BPL title (which we wouldn't be guaranteed) would only get us about £25m, and in truth only about £3.5m more than we'd get by finishing 4th which we could do without Ronaldo. If he resulted in us winning a treble, that would be a different story, but frankly, even with Ronaldo, I can't see that happening. Merchandise and sponsorship would cover a decent amount of the expenses but not as much as a half. I wouldn't be happy with us paying £80m for Ronaldo, especially considering we'd actually be paying closer to £92m when wages are taken into consideration (which they absolutely should be).

As much as I'd love to see Ronaldo at Utd again, I really can't see any reason for the club to bring him back unless Madrid are prepared to be reasonable. It would also severely hurt us in FFP terms, and since Ronaldo will likely only last 3/4 years max at the absolute top, we would have to replace him with another superstar. No point even considering this imo. Despite his injury problems, Reus would probably be a better, cheaper option.

40-60M

He is an unrivaled athlete, will last long into his thirties.

Titles shouldn't ever be measured in financial terms.

If Ronaldo would help us to win titles, and we have money to sign him, then go for it. Same for any other top player that would suit our play.

The problem though is that Madrid won't sell him for at least an another season, and by then Ronaldo would be 31.5 years old and probably near the point when he'll start declining.

There has to be a balance though. I don't know if the amount it would cost to bring in Ronaldo would be worth it to win just 1 or possibly 2 more titles. I feel there are other players who could help us do that who would represent better value for money. Personally, I'd include Bale in that list. The only situation in which I'd consider buying Ronaldo for those type of fees would be if he won us Champions Leagues or trebles, and I can't see that atm honestly.

Ronaldo coming back would score at least 30 league goals, that including or newly strengthened midfield would win the title. Not even the goals but the fear factor stops lower teams from pressing too high forward and scoring every now and then (which has happened us a lot since SAF) Assists, double marking & creating space and of course his invincible injury record.

I agree we'd probably win the league, but that isn't guaranteed to happen. There's still plenty risk and as the years go on, the likelihood of Ronaldo developing injury problems increases. The likelihood of his ability, pace, and strength decreasing increases also.

I agree with what someone said, Madrid need ronaldo more than we do, its too late to get ronaldo there is no benefit and too much of a gamble. And Madrid will need him this season that is for sure

£100m easily. The man would win us a league or 2. Europe is a another story. I'm much less sure of Bale doing that right away.
In all his time in Madrid he's won 1 league title with them which is astonishing considering his goal scoring record, so its not a guarantee of success, but in the EPL I think he would win us the league. Also cant see him leaving Madrid as he is so close to becoming their all time top goal scorer, maybe when he breaks the record he could come back next season but for this season I don't think any amount of money would be enough for him to come home.

Leaving Madrid and joining United would basically increase the chance of Barcelona sweeping up all the trophies again. And would he match Messi's goals in this team?

I may be completely wrong, but these are the things that I imagine matter to Ronaldo and his brand.

Nothing..I think that ship sailed past a long time ago..I can see him passing Raul's record and maybe going for 400 goals there..then moving to America where he will be bigger than Beckham..and make lots of money..He has nothing to prove here, and he has said so himself, Manchester are in the past..

I think there is a chance he may look to move on next summer. I can only see us and PSG as feasible destinations.

His wages would be around £600k+ pw

He would be worth every penny. Bring back a bit of prestige and glamour to the club.

I can only see him retiring at Real. It's his dream club and I don't think he will move away from there unless the club doesn't want him anymore.

I doubt it. He'll be the still-really-talented elephant in the room in the next couple seasons when the new batch of 23 year old superstars are ready to come in. Barely anyone retires at Madrid, and I can't see Ronaldo getting that treatment.

He's worth around £50-60million given his age. His wages could be anything we could afford whilst he's still able to play.

Nothing in this current setup. He would get castrated and it wouldnt work. Bale on the other hand could play the Memphis role.....

Thats mildly suggesting Bale is a better player, he is not. Bale has been playing behind the striker the whole pre season and has been crap.

I would buy him and play him as a number 9 in our setup.

Think he would thrive.

This. With SAF around, I can't see the emotional appeal for him.

Likewise it makes little sense for his career legacy - he should remain at Madrid til he becomes their leading scorer and he would probably enjoy the American or French league as a flat track bully in his final years rather than getting kicked to pieces in the EPL.

If we were to sign him, it would be next summer and should be for no more than £40m as he would only offer us 2 years as a top player.
