Higuain´s foul against Neuer

The keeper has every right to jump aggressively, to come out and catch the ball and take command of his own area. He got to the ball first and Higuian collided with him. No foul by either player.

If this is some sort of attempt to suggest it should have been a foul by the keeper...its very sad, tbh.
Germany were the better team on the night and throughout the whole tournament. Won it fair and square and very much deserved.

Is correct. From an Argentina standpoint the failure of Higuain, Messi or Palacio to take one of them chances was the difference in my opinion.

No, blaming the ref is the correct standpoint. /s

Was referring to the majority of posts in this thread and others.

i think that the best team won, that germany deserved to win this

in fact, before the game i was begging not to concede more than two goals,

and i'm delighted with the fact that argentina went to brazil -our archirival- and play the final game

would i have love to win the cup? of course, but i'm not stupid, i know there was a very slim chance of that

still i think Messi was better than most posters say he was, that argentina deserved to be in this final game and that if we had scored some of the chances we had we would have lifted the trophy

excuse me for being an argie

Honestly the ref got the decision wrong it wasn't a foul by Higuain.

It was neither a foul by Neuer though as he was the one who got to the ball first. A simple one on one that Neuer won. The ref should have given a throw in for Argentina and not a foul against them. But let's be honest that was about the only decision that went in our favor. The Argentine time really has no reason to complain about the ref after Masscherano and Agüero both escaped a clear second yellow card and a sending off.

Now concerning those points I agree with you 100%. It was a tough game to win for Germany because of Argentina's quality. It wouldn't have taken much and it could have been Argentina's Cup. Team Argentina were a worthy and deserving finalist.

He was good in the group stages became anonymous by the quarter final. He may as well have went home before the match with Switzerland because he didn't show up then or since.
Being honest, I'd say Argentina were a big let down. All that attacking talent, yet they got to the final by playing like Stoke and stifling the other teams.

thank you mate

i thought it was an interesting game, and for what was at stake, that both teams took many risks,

i'd like to know the point of view of neutrals about it

Messi was always a danger, we never controlled him as well as the Dutch did. And yes you gave us a good fight, especially in the first half you were the better team some of the counter attacks cost me more nerves than I would have liked.

I always knew this would be a tight game simply because your team has a great defensive organisation and for a long time I feared we would be the ones to concede from a counter and if Higuain would have kept his composure after Kroos mistake the game might have very well ended in your favor.

Non the less I felt we were the dominant team in the second half and in the extra time and probably deserved the win albeit only by a slight margin and well we only won by one goal so I think the result reflects the game quite fairly.

Despite all that I have to say that Messi won the player of the tournament award was a bit of a joke. Let's be frank he wasn't that good and someone like James, Neymar, Müller, Hummels, Boateng, Schweinsteiger or even Neuer were more deserving of that honor. Hell I would probably even have considered Masscherano or Demichelis over Messi in this tournament as your defense pretty much was the main reason you even got as far as you did.

All that being said I feel you gave us a great match, worthy of a World Cup final and I have a feeling it won't be the last time we meet in a final.

exactly, some posters would have love to see us do what brazil did

is like saying "germany played boring because they did everything to prevent messi from scoring"

I thought you got your tactics spot on and only failed because of shit finishing from several players.

yes, but i also think that germany was the best team through the whole cup and they deserved the victory

and, seriously, to have played this game in brazil, was more than i was hoping for

They were deffo the best team but that doesn't mean you have to suck their cocks. They were there for the taking and it would have been interesting to see them needing to come from behind.

Well they didn't exactly change anything in their tactics. 7 man defend and hoof a long ball forward for one of the three attackers to get on to. Okay they definitely made out our left defensive side with Höwedes and Özil to be a weakness but that was as obvious as anything from day one at the world cup but still cudos to Argentina for being the first team who really tried to exploit this.

They didn't thou, they allowed him far too much freedom for my liking. I thought Argentina's tactics were spot on and Germany was playing a little risky. If Argentina had they shooting boots on they could've won. Missing all those chances in a final against Germany is criminal - I can't remember Neuer making a single save.

As far as I know the keeper only gets the protection from refs in the 6 yard box. Sure, Neuer hits the ball but smashes Higuain with his knee, which in my opinion is dangerous play.

He didn't even hit him with his knee, more like with his ass, and he clearly got to the ball first, so bad luck for Higuain, end of story.

If people think that should have resulted in something for Argentina than the action against Kramer should have resulted in a penalty for us as well.

No thats not true. Protection for GKs comes from the fact that when they have their hands going for the ball they have no way of protecting themselves with their arms or hands. its also why GK when going for high balls raise a knee. If the ball comes over from the GK's left he will raise a left knee as he jumps, if it comes from the right he will raise a right knee as he jumps. The problem is that this is taught by every GK coach on the planet so the knee raising is instinctive. Players can use their hands and arms to protect themselves when challenging for aerial balls.

You know why Neuer smashed Higuain with his knee ? Because Higuain leaned his head towards Neuer.

If Higuain would not have leaned, Neuer would not had caught his head with the knee

Frikkin Higuain was trying very hard to get a penal, that is why he leaned his head that way.
He tried very hard to make the colision before Neuer could get to the ball, as that would have indeed been a pk. Laughable that some here are trying to make him look like he was a victim.

He didn't even really hit him with the knee it went pretty much right past him and it was more like his ass that knocked Higuain down. But let's be honest if two player run into each other and one gets to the ball first and the other one doesn't get to the ball at all the collision that follows is seldom called in favor for the one who didn't get to the ball at all and with good reason. Otherwise all you would need to do to get a foul as an attacking player would be to throw yourself into every ball you could possibly reach.

That being said it wasn't a foul by Higuain either though.

i see. you are an idiot

sorry
I'm not an idiot at all. If you want to discuss football, rationally, we can do that. If you want to throw your toys out of the pram, I can do that too.
There's nothing idiotic at all about suggesting that Messi wasn't a real threat tonight, or even since the quarter finals. The occasion was just too much for him. Not a big deal, though. He's still a very good player, at club level.

Exactly my point from hours ago: Higuain had not the slightest chance to get to the ball. And he knew it. He took into account to be hit. He got up immediately to ask for a penalty. When he didn't get it, he went down again in pain. 90 seconds later he was reborn.

Please close this bullsh.. thread.

Yes, forgot that he got up almost immediately. If he was hit with the knee in the face, he would have been like Kramer.

Absolutely. Neuer got to the ball, Higuain did not, and Neuer did not impede higuain to get to the ball, before he himself got to the ball. End of story.
