My $570 a month medication, with insurance is ..... $0Just had a look at what my €35 a month prescription would cost if I was living in the States.... around $700 a month
For the full dystopia in Technicolor, go to GoFundMe and search for people trying to raise money for life or death surgeries. That's just borderline dystopian. Poor people must literally shave years from their lives due to lack of coverage.

These are all the loudest dissenting voices that I've seen, and all have been chastising the public. They probably appear to many people as having very different outlooks (liberal/conservative, Dem/Rep, left/right, politician/journalist).
I think it's a good exercise in media literacy for people to think about the things these people loudly claim to disagree with each other on and how when it gets heated, what things they all fall in line behind.
Dogs come in many different breeds but are all dogs.
I don't know, if they have been paying attention to the online reaction, they may think twice about walking the streets of a major city alone. It will probably just result in extra security, but I don't think it's just going to be forgotten by these type, because the guy was caught.Either way, the fact he works for McDonald's is enough punishment.
Shame though he got caught, CEO's across the land can laugh again in their moneybags whilst not one damn single thing has been learnt other than greed is grand.
Copycatting is also a very real thing, so I doubt things will ever be as they were for these types again - they’re playing for the highest stakes with no do-overs.I don't know, if they have been paying attention to the online reaction, they may think twice about walking the streets of a major city alone. I wouldn't be surprised at all, if there are already people contemplating or planning a similar attack. I'm guessing the FBI will be monitoring who searches the names and whereabouts of major health insurance executives. But I guess Mangione was able to do it, because he had the element of complete surprise - any copy-cat certainly won't have that for the foreseeable future.Copycatting is also a very real thing, so I doubt things will ever be as they were for these types again - they’re playing for the highest stakes with no do-overs.
crazy that he manages to walk around shooting people then
Correct me if I'm wrong as I've experienced neither, but I don't think that erectile dysfunction prevents you from firing a gun?

Apparently people are calling his lawyer offering to pay his legal fees. He's got quite the fan club. I've seen him described as Cutie McShootie.
It is similar except he arguably has more support than John Brown who split the racial divide. This guy is lionized by almost everyone who has had a run in with an insurance company and is not a millionaire nor a billionaire. It's not a perfect analogy but there's a bit of the John Brown about this guy. Who for those that don't know was an abolitionist primarily in Kanses that committed some pretty heinous crimes against pro-slavery people including murder. He's now venerated as an anti-hero because his cause was just.
What does a sane person do when the law/the situation is insane. Clearly the answer for most is do nothing, but a few lash out.
So it's not really $0. $200 a month, plus I imagine several times that paid by your employer is crazy.
It costs me less than $200 a month though it does cost the company I work for much more
Nobody doubts the US system is fecked but blaming the insurance sector ignores the rest of the industry which are just as culpable, comparing prices across countires is pointless, there's too many variables involved
That $200 covers a lot more than just the drugs I need, I did post earlier in this thread that it's a total of $800 + per month between what I pay and what my company paysSo it's not really $0. $200 a month, plus I imagine several times that paid by your employer is crazy.
The insurance companies are a major part of the machinery and get their slice. They're not non-profit organisations.

Obviously true but I still don't see why there's such resistance to the Government providing a public option, even the general populace appear to be against that, you would still have a choiceYes, that's why its such an uphill slog to switch to Universal healthcare in the states. The entire industry is currently private and all of them have lobbying arms in Congress to prevent any substantial changes to the system.

A sizeable section of the population would prefer to be charged ever higher premiums as long as their money does not benefit the uninsured. They would literally prefer to make corporations with billions in revenue even more profitable than any portion of their money subsidise those with less means.Obviously true but I still don't see why there's such resistance to the Government providing a public option, even the general populace appear to be against that, you would still have a choice
Yet the very same people railed against the part of the ACA that penalised you via the tax system if you didn't have insurance - it really amazes me how so many can be so stupid!A sizeable section of the population would prefer to be charged ever higher premiums as long as their money does not benefit the uninsured. For many in the US, healthcare not being available to all is not a bug - it’s a feature.
