Well of course he is going to see out the year, he has to unless the club terminates his contract and admits he doesn't know if he'll stay beyond the contract. Confirms a deal is on the deal and matter of fact states its not decided yet, because well that's just common sense that the club could of bent over for him and parted cheeks and gave him what he wanted, they didn't and rightly so.
That's pretty much what I took from his statement personally.

Not really, I mean if he loved the club as he professed, leaving wouldn't of even been on his mind 13 months ago...but it was. It quite clearly was a very real option to him and there is also a chance he was just being professional and giving lip service about (something he is overly fond of doing anyway) "nothing is decided", which seems most likely.
Put it this way, he had a year left on his deal... if he said something quite insulting to the club with a year remaining do you think he would of played often? He had to keep professional, to still get appearances to essentially sell himself to other clubs.

You're right. I'd go as far as to say, it is going to be a problem for at least a season or two even after we let him go. Because United hand is clear for everyone to see. Players will know the kind of ridiculous money we're willing to shell out. And it will take a few transfer seasons' worth of negotiations to convince players otherwise.
It's possible yeah, all the more reasons to get rid of Sanchez as the earliest time possible.
The point remains that it is shambles for woodward, you don't let good players run down their contracts and leave on a free. Herrera may not be world class, but he's a type of player that excels in a well structured team. At worst you make some money for his market value if you can't agree on a deal.

LVG and Mourinho never fully trusted him and its possible this was the reason the club delayed opening contract talks, I don't know.
