It's so fecking bizarre. For example, he's played against Arsenal numerous times before so why is he all of a sudden incapable of doing that with us? I don't get it
It's just another bullshit excuse.

He better show up on Thursday. I feel like the gauntlet has been laid down, and now all eyes are going to be on him. Let's see if he'll show some guts, show up, and give us hope that he'll be a player willing to fight for the jersey. I hope so, we don't need anymore players who simply lay down.

It is very unusual circumstances though. We signed one of European footballs most creative players last season in the summer, for not an insignificant fee.
For him to be banished after one bad half in the derby and barely playing 30 minutes in the next 10 weeks is very odd.

I agree completely but my point is there are no performances to comment on and everything that could possibly have ben said has already been ad nauseam

Because Jose is trying to change his free roaming, instinctive playing style into something else.
Problem is he's not 18, he's 28.

Manchester United pressure is super pressure that only super people can overcome ?
At the age of 21 he was made the youngest captain ever for his Ukranian PL team.
Hes the captain of Armenia and he's by far the best Armenian player now, and probably in history. So all the attention/expectation is on him. His fame amongst amongst Armenians, transcends football.

This is the pu##y that cant handle pressure.

There's a huge difference between what he did in his home country and what he has to do here. His national team is a low standard and the Ukrainian league isn't even in the same ballpark.

I don't think you understand how pressure effects players. Everything is easy when you know you're the best in the team and you're untouchable, but when you have to play to your maximum every week to even have a chance of making it at your new team, with millions of people watchig and judging, it's different.

You missed my point Pocco.
Who would give a young player such responsibilty if they werent made of the right stuff?

Change? Mata has been playing on the right as a free roaming player.

I really hope he plays 90m on Thursday and impresses everybody and goes on to cement his place. This season needs turning around already and Miki has all the ability physically to do it, it's just a shame he's a bit of a mard arse by all accounts. To have started the season with Pogba and Ibra and to be a whole point above Watford is alarming.

whats the point buying him if hes not given the chance to play. If hes not the first teamer, he needs to play to give the other first team player a rest cause we are soon entering december.

Yeah, but if you buy a shirt and it don't fit you, what's the point in wearing it? Both Mourinho and Mhiki are to blame in this mess according to me.

to know if the shirt doesnt fit you, you just have to wear it first, the some logic applies in miki case.

And I guess his performance in training means Jose did wear his shirt and found out it didn't fit him? If he couldn't do it in training then most probably he wouldn't have been able to do it against real opposition and a crowd of over fifty thousand people. Are we saying that Jose likes to peform some kind of ritual wherever he goes by banishing a player he doesn't like? I thought he rubbished that notion by giving Mata a chance. Are we to think that Jose knows he has a world beater at his exposal but he won't unleash him on purpose? Especially in a time when Jose will kill for points?

There is only one realistic explanation here and that is Mkhi has failed to impress Mou on the training ground. And if his past record is anything to go by, Mkhi would have been more miserable had he started the games while under performing in training. It was on display whenever he came on. I hope he turns it around start from Thursday but as a professional player you have no one to blame but yourself for failing in grabbing a spot in the squad under a new manager. We see this with Carrick, Fellaini, Young, Valencia, etc. always surviving under new incoming manager despite being either thought of as too old to make it or being accused of being too limited. You just have to earn your manager's trust in training ground and during the odd chance you get.

If Jose will kill for points it makes sense that Mkhi will be left out in favour of "safer" options.

House hunting is a good sign.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is confident of succeeding at Manchester United despite a difficult start to his career at the club.

M.E.N. Sport understands Mkhitaryan's professionalism has impressed United coaches and the 27-year-old is house-hunting as he attempts to locate a permanent residence away from his temporary quarters at The Lowry Hotel.

Jose Mourinho is also residing under the same roof as Mkhitaryan but there is believed to be no friction between the pair, who also speak away from United's Carrington training complex at the hotel.

Mkhitaryan expects to get a fair chance to show why Mourinho spent £26.3million on him in the summer and is also unconcerned by suggestions he lacks intensity. Mkhitaryan played in a fervent Borussia Dortmund side and in the Champions League, scoring twice against Pep Guardiola's dominant Bayern Munich.

The Armenia international has made only one appearance since his full debut against City on September 10 but Mourinho confirmed Mkhitaryan would play in Thursday's Europa League tie against Feyenoord.

Another indication of Mkhitaryan's progress was the club website received clearance to conduct an interview with him on Monday ahead of a potential first Old Trafford start in over two months.

Mkhitaryan's desire to return to the first-team was highlighted by his decision to train alone at Carrington on a day off last month - a habit dating back to his stint at Shakhtar Donetsk - and a source described him as a 'perfectionist and a hard worker'.

While at Shakhtar, Mkhitaryan lived at the club's idyllic Kirsha Training Centre and, after returning at midnight following a Champions League tie, could not sleep due to adrenaline and decided to train in the gym on his own.

"Obviously he is not happy but he is transforming his frustration in a good way which is; close the mouth and work hard and try to adapt," Mourinho said. "He is trying.

"I told him this (game against Arsenal) was not the game for you, I don't think he needs 10 or 20 minutes from the bench I think you need a good game and you need to either start or if not to come for the second half.

"He needs less pressure and better conditions for him to express his qualities."

This article will hopefully put to rest the notion that he was lazy at training, had a bad attitude and that money and a United jersey had given him a big ego.

Some of us have been saying ad nauseam that hes the exact opposite.
A totally dedicated professional.

Hope Mourinho gives him more than one game to impress. He seems to be a hard worker and I think it would set a good example to other players

Waits for him to have a Memphis vs Midgetland performance and then the outrage when he doesn't feature vs West Ham.

And seriously that house hunting story is just stupid. He was bought on a long term contract by United so why would he not be house hunting.

Very excited to see him feature tomorrow, really hope it's a start.

If he can win Jose around and show what he's capable of it could be massive in terms of our attacking and all round play clicking. Particularly as Martial's current malaise shows no sign of ending!

Yeah really hope he starts. If he starts being integrated more into the team then he can become a key player for us on the right pretty quickly (or left even with Martial struggling a bit).

Because he's an established 28 year old quality player and if he'd be as completely out of favour as it seemed, he'd want to move, maybe even in January?

Even out of favour though its pretty unlikely we would sell him in January. He may not want to live in the Lowry indefinitely even if he is having a rubbish time in Manchester so far.

Nobody said that. Not that i'm aware of anyway.

What was up for debate was his ability to handle the pressure, expectation and scrutiny of being a Manchester United player.

Why aren't people more patient? He will get his playing time and he will come good.

I hope he goes on a proper tear, like 5 goals and 2 assists plus great all around play in his next ten games. Give Jose absolutely no reason to bench him.

That's just how people are these day. Something doesn't load up immediately on their computer and they close the tab. People haven't got a clue what goes on behind the scenes, reporters don't have a clue either. Doesn't even matter if you bring in past experiences.

It took SAF 7 years to win his first league title for United. 3 years to win his first cup which is the same amount of time as it took us to win a cup after he retired.
Despite him becoming a massive winner for us he also went 3 seasons without a league win.
It takes time for players to adapt and teams to gel. Ronaldo won the league in his 4th season, Rooney in his 3rd. We're in a similar position now in that our attack has many young players that are mixed with new players. Mata is the only one that isn't really new. Lingard, Depay, Rashford and Martial all started last season for us. Pogba, Zlatan and Mkhi joined this season and the manager.

People are obsessed with transfer fees, absolutely obsessed. Transfer fees and wages have never mattered as little as they do now yet it has become more the focus than ever. Chelsea had a good team when they were bought and they added 19 new players to that squad to win the title. City had a worse team and it took them 6 years of spending money on 42 different players to win the league. Now, United obviously had a good team after SAF left and have spent a good deal of money since then but more players have left than have been bought, 6 of them because of age and at least 4 of them are club legends. That doesn't matter however because X cost Y money.

Mkhitaryan hasn't given us any reason to doubt him really. He has ~150 minutes which is nothing. He got injured and missed a whole month of proper training. I'm not worried.

When we bought him I thought he might do for us what de Bruyne does for City, even if at a lesser rate. So I'm hoping that he impresses tomorrow and can carry some sort of form into the league. If Zlatan can start converting chances that he really should be converting, and if Mkhitaryan can play to something approaching his Dortmund form, then top four really wouldn't be much of a struggle. We'd be guaranteed a lot of goals. Plus these things have knock on effects. If one or two players start performing to a high level, it boosts the performances of everyone around them -- especially if those players are scoring goals.

hope he starts tonight, would be amazing if he starts performing .could be the piece missing to make the team click. fingers crossed

Good post.

He hasn't really played enough for people to form a proper opinion yet, but personally I"m a bit worried about how Jose is treating him so far. He shouldn't have to prove anything, in fact, Jose should be playing him often and proving to us that he was a good buy. But the way he is being treated is a bit like Januzaj, when he wasn't being played and coaches started questioning his commitment and attitude. I really hope that isn't the case, because the guy came from a club that has been stronger than us for the last few years and always competing for the title in high pressure situations. I hope he plays well today and cements a first team place and proves all his doubters wrong. It's been a very unusual start to his United career so far.
