what a shocking performance. he has to come off and start against a weaker team. by far the worst player on the pitch even worse than blind and lingard

Writing him off because of 45mins. Oh well.

Anyways, he's clearly been terrible. Needs to be taken off and rashford brought in. Ditto with martial on the other flank.

well some people have been proclaiming him as God after a few 2nd half cameo's. Its simply proportionate to that.

Was a strange decision to give him his first start here. Doesn't help the lad or the team.

Terrible first half and he should've done better, but I'm not going to be tough on him. First start, in the derby in a new league.

We had people wanting to drop Ibra after 20 mins against Leicester, having a go at Pogba in his second game so no surprise people will have a go at Mkhi and rightly so because that has to be up with one of the worst first half's ever for him if you ask him.

People who've watched him at Dortmund have been calling out for him because of that. He's shown nothing in these cameos that matches it.

Who has been writing him off? He's been terrible today and pointing that out isn't the same as writing him off.

This is a good and fair post, just because he's struggled on his first start against tough opposition doesn't mean he should be written off in the way that some have.

Also, bloody hell Dax, you were in the newbs when I was still down there!

Bit harsh. Quite clear he's not 100% fit...

A little early to write him off isn't it? He's had a poor 45 minute's against a good side. In the minutes he's had this season before, I thought he looked good.

Maybe it's a bit early, however, as I'm German I've been able to follow Mkhi during his time with BVB and as I said I've never rated him and was kind of "shockes/disappointed" when we went for him. I support him like I have with all our lads over the years but I simply don't believe he will be the player the majority of United fans think.

Nevertheless when he is not at 100% what is he doing on the pitch then? There has to be a reason why he was barely used so far and he's shown it in this first half.

Read some of the posts. I'm not talking about calling him terrible because he clearly had been.

Big fan of his, but that was probably one of the worst halves of football in a United shirt I can recall.

Well he was the best assister in that league you know. So he must be good right away for epl too.

Seriously though it showed why he hadn't started. He will come good.

Fair enough, I've not seen him play bar this season.
Hopefully he can replicate his last lesson for us.

Hahaha yeah fierce amount of time since I first posted. Didn't post for a good 4 years, I think. Newbs were a little too much for me.

He is starting to feel the pressure of playing at a real elite level club (in terms of exposure and expectations) and giving him his debut at the most hyped game of the EPL season is not helping either.

He was always a mentally fragile player, which held him back in his career. Given his immense raw skill set he would have been way more successful overall with a tougher attitude. He is someone who needs to be pampered and put in a comfort zone. Dortmund and especially Tuchel created that for him and backed him in all situations.

For his sake, he can only hope he was really a wish player of Mourinho and not just part of the Raiola package deal. The manager needs to treat this situation very carefully from a man managing aspect or Mkhitaryan will simply implode there and become one of the biggest frustrations for the fans.

So many people wanted him to start after Hull, where are they now...

Off day. Rooney has had worse half and he still stayed on and redeemed himself in the second half.

I feel Mhkitaryan has it in him to grow into a game and improve his performance. I still need to see a highlight because I do not believe he was as bad as people made him out to be. He would have benefited with the three in the midfield change Mourinho made at half time with the forward thinking, energetic Herrera in midfield

I was not referring today, but games he played in the past. "Has had"
Then sure, but that because Rooney is proven winner, a proven United quality player, you know he can do stuff, like he had in the Hull game. As for Micki, we have to wait and see, if he is an United player or a kagawa.

You have shamed Armenia :(

Just kidding, but he was terrible.

Just sloppy and not up to the intensity overall today. He'll be fine long term as he is really talented, but it might not be instant.

Feck me, that was diabolical

I've read that he is a player who pressure can get to sometimes and he needs to be settled to perform well. Throwing him into the derby was the wrong choice. He needs to start at home to mid-table teams and slowly settled into the side. I thought that was what Mourinho was doing, but then today's game threw me off.

Maybe it was a test for him, but he failed miserably.

Play a player just getting fit and without much match fitness in one of our difficult games, big mistake Jose. Lingard the same.
