Have you ever bought an opposition teams shirt?

I bought a Dortmund one when I was a kid, I loved Marco Reus so had his name on the back. Was gutted we never signed him.
Well thanks for the reminder that Reus at Dortmund started long enough ago that people had his shirts as kids fecks sake.

I've got a couple of Liverpool and City shirts in my wardrobe...

...only kidding! But I did own some knock off Juventus and Real shirts bought from some market on holiday when I was a kid.

Every time I travel to a different country I buy a football shirt of the local side or national team but I buy the knock off versions never official. I then use them in rotation for any sporting activity I do.

My wife, when we were just dating, went to Rome with her family and knew this about me. She brought me a knock off AS Roma shirt. Still one of the best souvenirs I’ve been gifted.

I’d never buy another PL or English club shirt though I did get bought a Liverpool shirt by an Uncle who isn’t an uncle (funnily enough @tob he also said it’s because I reminded him of Owen). He also bought me my first ever football kit (Barca with Ronaldo on the back).

I’ll continue this tradition with my two boys (the foreign knock off kits) but they’ll only have official United ones, from me at least.
That's a nice tradition, me thinks. And as you mentioned, they're quite a good wear when doing sport activities. They come of use, and it looks better than a plain shirt.

My only Utd shirt was the Sharp one, but not an original. My kids had Utd shirts and European shirts every year we went abroad. I stopped buying genuine Utd shirts for the kids when the Glazers arrived and gave up my season ticket. Looks like a good decision to me. Only watch on TV now.

My dad was a Birmingham City fan since his Uni days. By the time I turned up he wasn't really following football anymore so he left me to decide on what team to follow. My favourite colour was Red, and Giggsy was the best Welsh player out there, and so it goes.

When I was a teenager then and playing myself he started getting us season tickets. I'd play in the morning then straight in the car for the 2.5hr journey to St Andrews to watch them inevitably lose 2:1 to Middlesborough in the cold and rain. Loved it though, most of the time ..

I often bought their shirts and treated them as a second team. Still do, despite the stick I get for it from some quarters.

I remember Ruud scoring to make it 2:1 right in front of us when i was about 13, my Ruud shirt on underneath the Brum one to stop either me or Dad from catching a stray headbutt. And I jumped in the air and started screaming..

Good times.

Used to have some in my younger days: Ajax 1995 & 1996 away shirts, Juventus 1996 & 1997 away blue ones (with the stars on the shoulders), Milan 2004 white shirt, Germany 1994 and Croatia 1998.

Nope... but I've always wanted a Fiorentina shirt with Batistuta on the back. Always had a soft spot for them...

Only shirt I ever had non United was the Inter Fiorucci home top of 1992.

Saturday mornings football Italia and the legend of Ruben Sosa / Inter team.

Toto, Orlando, Fontolan, Sammer, Bianchi and Zenga in the goal.

As a kid I had many.

Everton (grandad was an Evertonian), Liverpool (dad is a Liverpool fan), Arsenal, Blackburn (mum was a Blackburn fan) plus used to get a shirt whenever we went on holiday so Barca/Real if we went to Spain, AC/Inter for Italy, etc

As a grown man I’ve bought some European tops but never a Prem rival.
