I think that with our current squad and promoting some of the youngsters we have a good enough team to finish top 6. Even if we go out and spend 150-200M there is no guarantee we will finish top 4, so to give ETH a season to adjust to the PL and hopefully improve the players, and more importantly show the potential transfer targets that we are on the right track makes good sense to me. To panic buy some players who would rather be somewhere else but cannot resist the salaries that United are offering is hopefully a thing of the past.
Chelsea at least have the ownership change excuse...
Apply to united for a job. You may not realise it but you have a very high ceiling.I think that with our current squad and promoting some of the youngsters we have a good enough team to finish top 6. People literally don't understand that the transfer window for majority of UEFA domestic leagues officially open on 1 July. And that many contracts officially expire on 30 June.
The transfer window closes 1 September...that's inclusive of 5 matchdays. Then a mid-season break due to WC. This year is another fragmented, start, stop, condensed season.

We have the a lot of change but just as incompetent excuse.
You can't be talking like that, we got ETH, new board too . Got to be excited, be excited
PR spin worked well recently, got to give them that. Even the shambles of the Rangnick situation didn't scream alarm bells to people on here
One problem with being so late with transfers is that our targets won't necessarily be waiting for us, and neither are the back up options.
We want Anthony for example, and it seems that it's gonna be complicated, by the time we decide to move on from that deal most available players will be gone. The likes of Raphinha etc won't be around forever, while if we act decisive, even by walking away from deals, we could still salvage something.
I hate negativity honestly but I can't bring myself to be positive at all. We're trying to hire a guy to help us with transfers in the middle of summer. Why have we sacked so many without a proper replacement in place? I'm not against sacking anyone, but you always line up a replacement first.
It just feels like most people at the club don't really know what they're doing.
Apart from the obvious free transfers, i'm not actually hearing much about players actually being sold, which might be a factor.
Awb, Martial, Henderson (ok, looks like a loan move), Bailly etc.
It doesn't even make any sense. If we have to wait until De Jong is signed before we do anything else, it means we're on a very very tight budget. We're literally afraid to commit funds elsewhere before we know the exact price of De Jong, the idea that we'll be able to go on a spending spree after De Jong has signed doesn't seem very logical.Seen posts saying after we get De Jong then the remaining signings will fall like dominoes but I wouldn't be so sure. We still have to bring the price down for Antony and Martinez and we are problem going to have to wait to sell a few players before making a third signing
To assist with negotiations this summer. Of course now, not a week ago or a month or two ago, but now.
Prepared.
I'm actually fuming that City have signed Phillips as a fecking backup and yet we're still stuck with Fred and McTominay the fraudulent footballer. Call me kneejerk, I don't care, but it just shows how far we've fallen.
Look at City and Liverpool. Look at their Jan business as well.
Then look at us...... Joke is an understatement
He obviously hasn't heard that we have a new manager to be excited about.Shut up Rene, you obviously have no idea how these transfers work. There is MASSIVE money involved meaning there are MANY complicated steps beyond your understanding. Murtough is working nonstop 16 hours every day. It's only natural that these things take time. Let the experts do their work.

Where the hell are we finding the money for De Jong, Anthony, Martinez, a striker, a DM, a RB to replace AWB? The signings we do end making may be positive, but we won't make nearly enough of them. Or in the most pressing positions. A goalkeeper to replace Henderson and Eriksen doesn't actually address any of the 6 major areas we needed improvement. We've left ourselves with so many holes in the team and nowhere near enough funds to fix it.

I think it clear as feck we only have very limited money to spend this summer, that's the only explanation. I'd say we only have 100-120m max, hence we could only move on to other deals after FDJ deal is done. If we bought FDJ for 80m, we are only left with 20-40m to make other signings, which is why we need to make sure we don't overpay for FDJ. 60m would be best deal for us, as we will have 40-60m to spend on others. It doesn't even make any sense.
