Have we signed anyone yet? | Yes, with stupid tax

At this stage, I’d get excited at a departure let alone a signing. It’s early days but this window is just so stale.

If we don't sort out our defence first it's useless going after Antony. FDJ etc

Don't agree with this. The midfield is the biggest issue by a country mile. We also need a RW as we really cannot be relying on Elanga (before anyone says 'Play Sancho at RW', he prefers the Left and that is probably his best position).

This De Jong hold up on seemingly all other signings/activities is becoming a joke, and we are getting left behind. Shock horror.

The defense is weak in the first place because

1. Lack a midfield (Mctominay belongs in the championship, Fred is mediocre, and Bruno's basically a striker these days).

2. Lack a thoroughbred RW.

3. Lack a quality RB.

I promise you if we improve the midfield with 3 quality signings, get a RW, and a quality RB then the defense will massively improve. Though I agree I'd like better options than Maguire, Lindelof, and Varane. At the very least I don't think it's a priority. It's all about balance and we at the very moment lack that.

Kindly remember that last season our defence let in lotsa lotsa goals!

A good/great team is always built from the defence.

Really don’t understand why United only do one deal at a time. Been that way for years now

If the De Jong deal falls through now, as deals between United and Barca always do, I feel like United are going to be bent over when they’re looking for other players as they’ll know how badly United need players

Are we considering preparing a bid yet or are we still monitoring the situation?

Because we have appointed incompetent people at every level. Starting from the owners right down to the players. Won't say the same for the manager though.

Give the likes of Murtough and co the time needed to explore and monitor. We're such an impatient bunch of supporters.

It’s not just about balance, it’s about having 4 CBs who are fit and available. None of those 3 could say that they met that last season. Lindelof is carrying his back injury and Varane is made of glass

Murtough is tentatively exploring the logistics involved in making a bid as we speak.

Is Ben Foster retiring? Maybe we could convince him to hang around for a season.

No he's not retiring he just left Watford to become a free agent and even mentioned he still feels good to join up with another team. Whether he would return to United or even be good enough for EtH to want him back at the club is another discussion.

The season before 20/21 we had the 4th lowest goals against in the league, that is prior to the addition of Varane and the return of Dalot, not everything is black and white, many things went wrong last season the defence was both symptom and cause I feel

Maybe because we only have one fax machine in our office all these years.

We're going to get bent over regardless of if and when De Jong goes through. Sounds like ETH is very keen to bring in some players he trusts from Ajax, but they're going to be demanding the earth for the likes of Antony and Timber. They don't need to sell because they've already raised funds this window.

We may save a bit on De Jong in the long run but will be spending more for other targets.

It's fecking pathetic compared to our rivals, and this is before we get onto the state of how we ship players off...

Prepared, Planning, Considering, Exploring... Just fecking get a shake on. We have just had our worst season in 30 years, hired a new manager and are - at this point - setting him up to fail.

Apparently Murtough was at is desk at 6am this morning, on the phone to Judge and negotiating team who are in 5 star Barcelona hotel. These guys couldnt close a pair of curtains.

Its pi55ing off the fans, they are literally setting ETH up to fail

As we speak there is a deep philosophical debate in the transfer war room of “what is a bid? and “what does it mean to bid?”. Some very deep topics and exploration on purpose of “bid” that none of you can understand because you aren’t on the level of Murtough aka Muristotle.

Don't forget our Portugese mind, Dalotcrates.

2 midfield signings along with a RW and RB would be perfect for me, yes I get the concerns about no cover for Ronny and LCB too

Zero activity in this thread is worrying because it means most of us have lost faith, I have but I didn't expect it to hit critical mass this soon.

We are mess, so nothing new. Waiting for the only June posts, until we are July and pre season started, and we have only brought in a reserve keeper that can't catch a ball. Good times, seems we want to fight permanently for the EL spots.

We've "bid" on a bunch of players just like Amber Heard "donated" her divorce settlement. It's all in the eye of the beholder. I guess we're pledging to bid on players now!

It's nice to see we had since November to start to execute a well thought out plan and even then we are floundering about.

Some things never change

I can think of other things Amber Heard has done that remind me of Manchester United right now...

Munich 3 signings
Real 2 signings
Dortmund 5 signings
Liverpool 3 signings
City 2 signings
Arsenal 2 signings ( and 2 very close)
Spurs 3 signings

Only we and Chelsea (for known reasons) have not signed anyone yet.

ETH signed for us on April 21. Makes you wonder what happen since then on pursuing transfers.

We are currently stuck in a transfer merry go round for a groundsman apparently working at cheshire didsbury cricket club. They are holding out for 45 million, pretty good value considering, he moved from the parks department in 2015 for an extra £5 per hour.

So depressing, I've just spent close to 1k on tickets to see the games in Melbourne and Perth, 1k in travel, 1.5k in accomodation, and I'll probably have to look forward to seeing Andreas fecking Pereira and Phil Jones instead of a De Jong or Timber.
