Has political correctness actually gone mad?

But since I like dropping pebbles... do you think that two young attractive girls with blood on their face getting disproportionate media coverage relative to other violent crimes, homophobic or otherwise, has a clear causal link to the existence of a heteronormative cisgendered white supremacist patriarchal capitalist colonialist tyranny? Do you think the police only turned up and did their jobs because the victims were white and cisgendered?

You got the causal link the wrong way round. The attack itself and the media treatment thereafter is symptomatic not causal. I would agree with her though: people who are different are more likely to suffer persecution and their stories more likely to be ignored while trials of fit white women continue to be the more marketable commodity.

Although the headline says he was sacked for Islamophobia, the sketch he shared was slating all religions.

Brian Leach has been accused of Islamophobia after being hauled into a meeting with bosses.

Not one quote within the article that actually suggests that he was sacked for Islamophobia. All it says is that what he posted was offensive, which he acknowledged, and he was removed as a result. All seems a bit ridiculous to lose his job over it but the headline is pure clickbait.

Absolutely ridiculous, should never have ended up with the hearing in the first place let alone leading to his sacking.

They're acting like he shared some violent far-right material rather than a popular comedian doing a stand up piece about religion.

It kinda makes me wonder whether he was a poor employee and they used this as an excuse to get rid, because it seems incredibly harsh. I might just be being naive though.

Nike pulls early independence US flag trainers after Colin Kaepernick complains. Seems that US Nazis co-opted that flag a while back.
To me it looks like they're letting the racists win?

For me: it was the best designed flag that the US has ever had.
I guess this is what they’re talking about...

So, there's two flag designs there. Do we allow the Nazis to keep both or tell them to go F themselves and use them as normal?

I don't think that's a case of PC gone mad, I mean it's at least worth a debate hence why you are asking that question. Understandably Kaepernick wouldn't be keen on it and Nike as a private company probably don't want any association with the American Nazi Party either.

They can keep an image of GW and the eagle ;) but yeah, the two flags.....
I think Nike backed down here and Kaepernick is allowing the nazis to own the 13 star flag.

Some of my best friends (yeah, I went there :boring:) have 13 star flags that they fly each July 4th and they're not Nazis, just proud that they're living in one of the original colonies.

Same here.

Like I said, I’d thought we’d stopped the damn Nazis from stealing our shit.

That's my point though. It's got nothing to do with nazis, or at least shouldn't. By even bringing them up CK has let them take that flag.

I like the design on the shoes so if they've already made them I'll take a pair; size 11 please and another pair size 11, extra wide, for my son :)

Im sure I saw they were already sent out to stores. Nike has asked for them to be returned, so Im sure youll be able to grab a pair or two on ebay soon for few million bucks .

Problem is thought it does despite whether or not you think it should. I agree though it shouldn't be either but but clearly Kaepernick sees it as a fact and he comes from a different background to me on this subject so I'm trying to see his point of view. That's why I think it merits a debate here and it's not your typical standard PC gone mad.

Its essentially the swasitka argument. It didnt mean nazi before, and to a lot of people it still doesnt, but you see one, you think nazi. So if youve seen the betsy in you life next to a burning cross and hooded gentlemen with rather pernicious intentions, its not unreasonable to have an issue with it being celebrated.

For the debate: Does it have more or less connection to the Nazis than Bayer aspirin, Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, etc.?

More probably, given those are much bigger brand names so the associations have gone past the Nazis.

I was under the impression they used both, and that was the connection?

I think it's more about the German American Bund, although there are some unfortunate connections with America First as well.

Dammit they did use it last year. fecking assholes.

Oh. Well, in that case that flag is definitely lost. It's a bit like tattoos of Norse symbols in Norway. If you have one, there's a 50% chance you're a Nazi. Nazis and the far-right love playing on old symbolism.

that's the spirit CR, and feck CK for giving in (even though that's not how he meant it to go).
I mean... what ever happened to fighting against shitheads like the KKK and Nazis?

Screw then and screw how they want to steal and subvert peoples symbols. Fight back against them and keep things like the Betsy Ross flag meaning what they should mean. A symbol of the Revolution.
